Blogging Success Comes With A Purpose

Without a purpose, your blog is nothing. It doesn’t matter how much you know about search engines, optimizing and meta tags.  The foundation of your blog is it’s purpose. A successful blog is a blog that is optimized to communicate to a mass audience about it’s purpose. Again, without a purpose, your blog is nothing. Once your blog has a purpose, you will then have something to market and something that will grow into a success.

The MyBlogLog Avatar Contest!

Register for a free MyBlogLog account. Here is a fun contest that I am hosting. It’s called The MyBlogLog Avatar Contest. The contest is actually very simple and very fun to play! Everyone who is a MyBlogLog member is welcome to play (also if you haven’t joined MyBlogLog you can register for a free account and then join in on the fun). If you don’t know what MyBlogLog is, you can visit Kyle’s Cove and read his post to learn more about it. Here is how the contest works:

  • The goal is simple. We want to to see who has the best MyBlogLog avatar.
  • To participate in the contest, all you have to do is submit a comment on this post. I have installed a plugin called myavatars which will display your MyBlogLog avatar in your comment block here on the site. When you leave a comment, tell me that you are in and want to participate in the contest and maybe drop a line or two about how your created your avatar, how you found it, or why you use it. Basically, give us all just a real quick short story about your avatar.
  • All other comments (chat related comments) will be removed. Please only comment if you would like to participate in the contest. I am only accepting comments that state participation into the contest. All other comments at this time will be removed.
  • Depending on how quickly this contest hits off will determine the cut off limit on the contest. We will have to just play that by ear. I may only accept 25, 50, or 100 participates into the content. Naturally if it takes a month to get 25 participants, then the limit will be set to 25 and we can move onto the next stage of the contest… Voting!!!
  • The voting process is equally as simple as the participating process. Once we have our 25, 50, or 100 contest participants we will begin the voting process. To vote, you have to place one more comment to cast your vote. The only rule to voting is that you can NOT vote for yourself. When you place your vote by comment, you are voting for which person’s avatar you feel is the best. It’s that simple… nothing complicated.
  • Once the voting process begins, you CAN NOT update or change your MyBlogLog avatar. If you do so, you will be automatically disqualified from the contest. Immediately after the voting is open, I will be capturing copies of the participants avatars and keeping them on file. Again, if you modify or change your avatar during the voting process, you will be disqualified.
  • After all contest participants have voted, I will tally up the votes and crown the winner.
  • I am the host and I am not allowed to participate or vote.
  • In the situation of a tie, I will be the deciding vote. This is the only situation where I will have any ability to vote or participate in this contest in any way.
  • My role in this contest is the host. I am the moderator and my job is to make sure that the contest runs smoothly and stays clean and fun!
  • If you should have any questions about the contest, please do not comment here, but rather contact me directly, or find any post on the site to comment on to get in touch with me.
  • This is NOT required, but requested: I am requesting that you add this page to your blogroll and title it MyBlogLog Avatar Contest. Again, this isn’t mandatory. It is just a small request. By adding this page to your blogroll it will help speed up the process of finding participants. If you would be willing to create a small blog post about the contest, that would be great also. Whatever you can do to help would be greatly appreciated. If you do add this post page to your blogroll or create a post about it, contact me directly and I will add your site to my blogroll or create a post about your site.

NOW LETS TALK ABOUT PRIZES!!!!

  • First Place (Winner of The MyBlogLog Avatar Contest) will receive a $20.00 PayPal.com payment directly from me! * I will send you a $20.00 payment. I am not sure what fees PayPal.com charges, but my payment to you will be in the amount of $20.00. (example: If PayPal.com charges $1.00 fee, then the amount you actually receive will be $19.00)

Alexa and Technorati Trade

My site is only a few month old, yet it receives in the area of 200,000 page views per month now. The site still has a Google PageRank of 2; however, prediction reports are indicating that this will update to a PageRank of 5 (hopefully).

Even with the low Google PageRank, ReviewMe.com has still approved my site and feels that my personal posts and reviews are worth $60. In my opinion, that is really not bad for a blog being only a few months old.

The reason why my site got approved on ReviewMe.com despite having a low Google PageRank I believe is because my Alexa and Technorati rankings covered the difference. I am not too sure how ReviewMe.com determines which sites to approve and which sites to decline, but I do now that there are three important factorizations: Google PageRank, Technorati Ranking, and Alexa Ranking. Luckily for my site, the latter of the two were high enough to get approved. Maybe ReviewMe.com also can get a general idea of a site’s traffic?

Anyway, I wrote this post because I would like your help. In exchange for your help, I will help you in return. I am looking for people who will visit Alexa.com and write a review for my site. In exchange I will do the same for you on your site. Secondly, I am looking for people who will add my site to their Technorati Favorites… and again, I will do the same for you.

Write A Review On My Site At Alexa.com

Visit Alexa [click here] and scroll down to the bottom of the page. Look for the “Write a Review” link towards the bottom. Please write a nice review about my site. It doesn’t have to be a novel… just something short and sweet. After you write an Alexa review for my site, just drop me a quick comment using the form below to let me know. From there, I will do the same for you.

Kyle, at Kyle’s Cove has recently offered to write Alexa site reviews too. If you would like a second review written for your site, take a look at Kyle’s post.

Add My Site To Your Technorati Faves

Add to Technorati FavoritesIf you add my site to your Technorati favorites, I will do the same for you. [click here] to add my site to your technorati favorites.

Drop me a quick comment and let me know that you have adding my site to your Technorati favorites and have written an Alexa review about my site. Once you leave a comment and let me know, then I will do the same for you.

My goal is to continue to grow my ranking with Alexa and Technorati and also help you in the process as well. If you review my site and add it to your favorites, I will do the same for you! I look forward to exchanging these services with you!

Best Regards,
Garry Conn
