In June I am going to be placing a lot of focus on guest blogging. I really want to expand and gain more readers to my site and commenting and contributing on other blogger’s sites is the number one thing you can do to get more regular readers to your site. In many ways this is even more important than having great rankings in the search engines. By contributing on other sites, you allow other readers to learn more about you under the safety of someone else’s site. Meaning, the things you write about and the things you say are a direct reflection on what a reader can expect to see on your main site. If a reader doesn’t like what they see on the guest site, more likely they won’t like what they see on your main site. The people that click over to view your site are already sold before they even reach your front door! In June, I am going out recruiting for new readers. If you would like for me to make guest appearances on your blog, drop me a comment and let me know. Also, I am still looking for guest bloggers who want to write here on my site. Below are examples of the level of quality you can expect to see from me being a guest writer on your site.
Today I posted a wonderful article on Blog about Your Blog that talks all about the mystery of website traffic. I can’t go a single day in the blogosphere without hearing people talk about “More traffic this…. more traffic that”. Yet, I don’t hear many people talk about traffic conversion. Meaning the percentage of traffic you convert into regular readers. In my opinion that is by far the most important attribute towards being successful blogging. It doesn’t matter if you have 10 visits per day or 10,000 visits per day. You have to convert, otherwise you aren’t capturing the interest of the people coming into your site. People visit my site for a reason. It is my job to identify what they want or what they expect. If I can’t deliver, then I fail. So, all in all… it’s not about how much traffic you get to your site, its more about how much traffic you convert. You can read the full story here, “It’s Not Always About Traffic“.

Participating in affiliate programs can be fun and can make a lot of money online… Being successful in affiliate programs can bring you as well as your family tons of enjoyment! But, on the flip side… they can be dangerous. And every time you fill out an online form and submit your personal information, you put yourself as well as your family at risk. I needed to take the night off to have a little fun with my kids. They are off on summer vacation. So lately we have all been staying up late, hanging out playing video games and watching YouTube videos. Anyway, after they went to sleep I got to thinking, “Man, this really is what typical family life is like”. It doesn’t get much more “Real” than this. And then that lead me to start thinking about the times when I read John Chow dot Com. Every time I visit the site, I have flashed in front of me two fancy cars and tons of posts that include high detail photos of elegant food that you couldn’t pay any amount of money me to eat. Now, first off… don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with John or his site. The parody here is the simple fact how extremely different our life styles are. Enjoy, and I am sure, in good humor, that Mr. Chow will like it too, or not, who knows? Below is a post I wrote that pokes some fun at the “typical posts” I read at John Chow dot Com.

“K-Mart, Kids, and Quick Food”
I will be headed to K-Mart tomorrow morning to catch a sale on Pampers diapers. I am going to have to head out quick because I know that in ClarksVegas extremely sales like this don’t last long. The supply is extremely limited and I know it will be well worth the effort scoring a deal like this.
Yesterday was a pretty adventurous day. Exhaustingly enough, after hosting an inflatable swimming pool party for my kids and a few of the neighborhood kids, I dug deep to find that second wind to prepare a most tasteful dinner party consisting of 80/20 ground beef, purchased on sale at Wal-mart, formed into thick pucks. These thick “pucks” if you will, are actually a very gourmet tasteful treat commonly called Cheeseburgers. They are seared to perfection on my $19.95 scratch and dented and discounted charcoal grill. When cooked correctly, the burning smell of ground up cow flesh and muscle tends to make kids and parents drool. I was going to take a picture of this delight, but unfortunately, the crowd of pool swimmers tacked me and stole the serving plate. I was able to capture an image after one my guests had to make a quick run to the restroom. (image shown above)
On a different note, I have to take a moment to tell you about my new header graphic. On the left is our 1996 Honda Civic. What a work horse of a vehicle, classy, sporty and makes a great gas efficient 110 mile round trip daily. On the right, we have our 2001 Dodge Caravan, where I personally haul smelly kids around town all down to their various social and sporting events.
Tomorrow after the morning events of fighting the crowds over discounted diapers, I will be returning home to prepare a most nutritious meal for the kids and myself. The process can be quite challenging for some, however, being an out of the box thinking I can prepare out of the box meals in less than 15 minutes. Lunch will consist of two boxes of Great Value Mac and Cheese mixed with pinto beans. The side is a standard garden salad. The beverage selection will be as follows: Kids 9 and up, water, skim milk, or…. water! The child who is 1 and under will have whole milk and have the luxury of eating chopped up green beans mixed with spinach (she isn’t old enough to reject my offers by throwing them at me… Not! I clean the walls everyday!). After the main course we will all enjoy fresh chopped up fruit in a bowl. (see picture above).
Tonight was a most wonderful night… it was action packed. The night consisted of a Wii Sports competition. We engaged into a bowling competition and quickly moved onto golf and then later baseball. From there we had some snacks consisting of McDonald’s milk shakes, Coke, Pepsi, Pringles and sunflower seeds. The events ended after a few hours of watching YouTube videos consisting mainly of beatboxing videos.
