I have launched my first free WordPress theme for public use. It is called, Digs’em. It combines some personal design inspiration for the huge successful site, Digg.com, coupled with very search engine friendly coding. This WordPress theme is optimal for all the Internet marketers and search engine marketing people who need a great tool towards getting their content indexed and ranked in the search engines.
Digs’em stands for Digg and SEM.
I have always felt that Digg.com has one of the most search engine friendly website designs online, and SEM which stands for search engine marketing. Combine the two and you get Digs’em for WordPress.
The Digs’em WordPress Theme is available for free and can be downloaded by visiting www.DigSEM.com where you can see a live running example, get support and ask me questions related to the theme. I have started a Digg.com page and if you enjoy what I have done, I would love to catch your thumbs up dig vote here.
I look forward to hearing all your comments. I would like to direct all comments related to the theme here. I look forward to you checking out Digs’em and downloading it for your own personal use! If you should have any comments, questions or suggestions, I’ll be standing by at www.digsem.com to help you.

Life is pretty good for bloggers who have another experienced blogger standing by and ready to answer questions… But could life be even better? What could be better than having open access to being able to ask a full time blogger a question? How could this process be improved?
These are a few questions that I asked myself. For those just tuning in, My name is Garry Conn. I am a full time professional blogger and have a service called, AskGarry! This is a free service where I openly accept questions from my readers and then turn around and publish their questions and my answers live on AskGarry!
AskGarry! has been a huge success so far and has gained the interest of many readers. Reflecting back on the last two weeks, I asked myself how I could make AskGarry! even better and easier to use. The solution was simple.
Formally, I allowed readers to send me an email to garryconn@gmail.com with their questions. This worked well, but it adds work I have to do towards answering the question. The process for me to acquire the email, copy it and then paste it on my blog, remove personal and sensitive information from the email and then proceed to answer it is very involved and can take quite a bit of time on a per question basis.
The new system, which is now in effect, allows my readers to Register For a Free Account where they can easily create a post with their question. When the question is saved, I will receive a notification and answer the question and publish it live on AskGarry! How simple is that!
It doesn’t get much easier than that, does it? Are you ready to ask Garry a question? I am here to help you learn more about blogging, making money online and search engine marketing and optimization. Ask me a question today, I am here to help and in the process of doing so, I can get you more traffic to your blog!

I am an active LinkShare.com member and use their affiliate based program to make money online. LinkShare.com is a program similar to Commission Junction and Amazon Associates. They give me open access thousands of different products that are sold in trusted brick and mortar businesses such as Best Buy and Wal-Mart.
I have subscribed to many of the retailers email newsletters so that I can get fresh and hot material to blog about on many of my deal related blogs. I discovered that the newsletter I receive from eToys.com is the same newsletter I receive from KBToys.com.

I thought that this was real unusual and I wanted to investigate the reason why these two newsletters were the same. Doing a Google search I was able to get quite a bit of information about eToys.com and KBToys.com, it was almost overwhelming.

According to a report published on Wired News back on May of 2001, KB Toys actually purchased eToys.com for a totally sweet deal of only $3.4 million. On Wikipedia I learned that the CEO Toby Lenk performed the classic Titanic, “I’m going down with the ship” bit as he refused to dump his shares and expected his staff to do the same.

Linking to the document on Wikipedia that covered some information about KB Toys, I learned that it was just three short years later when KB Toys found themselves in the same financial “Titanic” boat as their formerly acquired company eToys.com:

Is there a difference between the two websites? That was the question I wanted answered.
“eToys.com Has similar Products as KB but also offers things not found on KBtoys.com. They have PC Software with a few games, but also the fun learning games and programs for younger kids.” - betterpricedgames.blogspot.com
You tell me, I can’t see a difference. The categories on each site vary a little bit but present the same products being sold. I would suspect that the The KB Toys branding holds more weight than the eToys.com name, but that would be just my own opinion. The terms of service pages between the two sites are practically exact duplicates:

No matter if there is a difference between the two sites, one thing was quick to jump to my attention: KB Holdings, LLC doesn’t seem to be doing very well financially.

Now knowing more about KB Toys and their financial situation, do you think that this is a company that you will do business with by promoting their affiliate commission based products on your blog or website? How do you think this situation will effect other companies in the same market such as Toys R Us and Walmart? Do you know more about the eToys.com and KBToys.com story? Is there something that you can add to this by dropping a comment? $3.4 Million dollars is dirt cheap to purchase eToys.com, if you were in charge at the time, what are some things that you would have done differently?

According to a recent poll I did, over 50% of my readers are not members of Bidvertiser. I was actually quite surprised to see that. Bidvertiser is a great program that gives you more options and diversity for your website. It breaks up the monotony of having just Google Adsense on your site and allows for different level of having control on displaying advertisements on your site. Here is a screen shot, you can click on it to view it full size:
Look closely at each section as the content and ads have been blended:
Is is hard to spot out the ads from the content? It should be and the reason why is because I have truly incorporated Bidvertiser as part of my system for helping provide readers with the service I offer on this particular site. Here is another screen shot:
All the circled sections in the screen shot are money makers for me. Even the yellow highlighted links make money. Bidvertiser is yet another program that gives me the ability to offer my visitors more options.
Why do you say that?
Problem: Most people that feel like Bidvertiser sucks is because the advertisements on their site are not relevant to the content.
Solution: Write content that is relevant to the ads.
When you’re looking for a job in the classified ads section of your local paper, a lot of the times, you’ll inquire about a job listing not because it is something that you want to do, but rather because it is something that pays well.
Bidvertiser pays well… very well. If you want to make money online, I would advice that you sign up for Bidvertiser and see what kind of advertiser base they have and start producing content that is relevant to their ads. If you do that, you’ll make quite a bit of money.
Bidvertiser gives you all the tools to setup and display the advertisements exactly the way you want them to appear on your website. A very unique and effective system to Bidvertiser is the fact that users have the ability to create and design their own templates.
Monetize your Website or Blog with BidVertiser. Signing up is a snap and it’s free! Please use my referral link above so that I can get credit for the referral. I really enjoy using Bidvertiser and feel that you will too!

Female bloggers, search engine marketing and sex… do the three go hand in hand? Not really… but in this article I talk about these topics and how all three can get you more traffic to your blog.
Attached below is a screen shot of an email submitted in by a reader. If it is hard to read, simply click on it to view the full size:
There is a lot to address is this email that can help not only CardioGirl but all my readers as well. So let me quickly knock out a few things.
First off, regarding using your FeedBurner address in the comments of other blogs instead of using the URL of your blog… I have one thing that I want to address with my readers about that.
If you do decide to do this form in marketing, I do think that the odds of you increasing your FeedBurner numbers are in your favor. However, this can also have negative effects too. If you do decide to use your FeedBurner URL in comment forms in stead of your blog URL, then I would suggest taking advantage of all the options in your FeedBurner account to make your feed look pretty and attractive to the people that are clicking in. The above screen shot is an example of what a standard FeedBurner feed looks like in the FireFox web browser. It looks pretty much the same in Internet Explorer. Below is a screen shot of a FeedBurner URL using the BrowserFriendly feature, see the difference?
Making your FeedBurner more attractive to readers and using BrowserFriendly is easy, here is a screen shot that shows you where these options are located in your account:
Feedburner numbers drop and increase day to day because it counts how many people have read your content within FeedBurner within a 24 hour period. If you are like me and want more consistent numbers, start promoting your email notification service. The email notification service counts each subscriber daily regardless if they read it or not. If you have 1000 email subscribers, then your chicklet will reflect the 1000 readers plus any RSS readers you had in a 24 hour period.
John Chow actually covered this topic very well about back in Nov. 2007. Please read this post here. John is a very smart guy and you can learn a lot from him, my only issue is having to deal with reading about lobster dinners and things that don’t really help me pay the bills.
CardioGirl is interested in a new way of marketing herself. She said in the email that overall traffic is low, no PageRank and long story short, her blog is the best kept secret on the Internet as many other blogs are too. So lets try to fix that for her as well as many of my readers, especially the female ones.
As my title suggests, I have some interesting observations that I want to share with you about female bloggers. I am sorry to say, and I am not sexist, but out of the box, female bloggers have more potential to get traffic compared to male bloggers.
Men typically are pigs and constantly think about sex. Many visual things cause men to be reminded about sex. And in the world of blogging, men are attracted to blogs written by female authors. Why? Because it stimulates sexual desire. I didn’t make man, God did… I am a guy too, but I am smart enough to analyse and recognize the natural tendencies of men. Male bloggers tend to read and follow female bloggers.
I am not sure if this is the type of attention you want; however, I am a firm believer that “Bad breath is better than no breath at all”, meaning… having girl crazy blogger traffic is better than no traffic at all.
Capitalizing on this gender angle, a female blogger can do a lot of little things that bring in a huge flow of traffic. Here are a few suggestions:
Now for CardioGirl and other female bloggers, I am not saying make yourself appear like an easy chick or anything like that. All I am saying is that there is a market that takes advantage of idiot guys who drool about sex. If you want to capitalize on that market, it is pretty easy to do so. Taking advantage of idiot men can make you money online! A lot of men are pretty stupid creatures and use their little brain to operate their lives compared to using their big brain located within their skull.
Ok, moving on to search engine marketing. This isn’t really gender specific and applies to all bloggers. I had a Gmail Talk conversation a few nights ago with Fred Peters who owns a site titled, Newest on The Net:

Fred Peters has started a new blog that targets the golfing niche. This is a very excellent choice market for the fact that the type of audience that is attracted to blogs like this don’t really know too much about making money online, nor do they have an interest in this market. They just want to learn how to play golf better and buy things that will help improve their game.
Fred and I exchanged a lot of information; however, one of the main things he wanted my insight on was how to gain more search engine traffic. His question is a pretty common question that many other people want to know too. So here is a tip that will help you increase your search engine traffic.
Post Titles: How you word and title your post is VERY important. Here is the thing about social blogs. The trend is pretty standard and the result is unfortunate. When a blog author publishes a new article on their blog, this article is visible on the home page of their blog. Secondly, all the RSS subscribers get a copy in their RSS reader and email subscribers get their copy via email. Once a new blog article is read and consumed by all the social subscribers and readers it quickly dies on the vine and gets buried in the blog archives.
It doesn’t have to be like that! If you were to carefully title your posts in a way that appeared more attractive to search engine users, you can get a steady “second life” of traffic to these socially “DEAD” articles. Again, once your content is buried by newer content, you basically sentence your older stuff to a “Death Sentence”. Let me show you a few examples:

Fred wrote a post titled, “My Diet Facebook Application“. Fred has a readership of close to 300 people. Once these 300 readers consume this article and once this article drops off his home page it will hit the “Blog Archive Graveyard” and will never get read again.
But wait… that isn’t true in this case! Why? Because Fred titled his post in a way that will enable him to gain traffic from search engines by using a logical keyword phrase for his title that commonly can be searched for in Google. Here is an example, click to view full size:
If you are interested in getting a “Second Life” from your articles, I suggest that you title your posts so that they form logical exact phrases of things the people search for in Google or all other search engines for that matter.
What are some things that you feel could help others score more search engine traffic? What are some things that have worked well for you? What do you think about social media networks such as places like MyBlogLog, BlogCatalog and DIGG? In what ways have social media networks given you traffic to your blog? I look forward to you sharing your input in the comments!
