How Many eBook Downloads Does It Take To Screw In A Light Bulb?

For once, I am just going to throw down and speak my mind. I have a new series of posts that I’ll be publishing over the span of whatever… called, “How many FILL IN WORD Does It Take To Screw In A Light Bulb?”

The reason why I am doing this series is simple. I am totally fed up and sick of all the freaking garbage, noise and pollution that is being published on many of the blogs that supposedly are intended to help people learn about making money online, Internet and search engine marketing, search engine optimization and business blogging strategies.

So many blog authors, and I literally mean a countless number of them, are projecting themselves to be experts in the business while they fail to find success in the propaganda they write about and offer to others. It’s stupid. It is totally misleading, misguiding and it needs to stop. People turn to the Internet to seek online careers for very valid and important reasons and when uneducated and inspiring individuals have to be subjected to garbage, it honestly kind of aggravates me.

So anyway, I wrote this post immediately after I received an email from someone asking me to review their brand new e-book that promises to change the world. So knowing in advanced, that this eBook would totally suck, I downloaded it anyway to get confirmation.

The question remains, “How Many eBook Downloads Does It Take To Screw In A Light Bulb?” In other words to paraphrase this question in less sarcastic terms: How many more eBook downloads does it take before people stop the madness of pretending to be experts and releasing garbage into the blogosphere?

Once again, I downloaded yet another eBook that makes me want to puke.Yet another eBook that offers nothing but noise, propaganda, misleading information and is packed full of affiliate links that point to even more mindless bullshit eBooks that waste millions of dollars from people who only want to learn the business of making money online.

This whole eBook thing is a joke. And that is partly the reason why I trashed my eBook in the works a few months ago. I was more than half way done with my eBook and I quickly found that almost half of the book provided more education on what NOT to look for in an eBook than what it was originally intended for.

I don’t know… I might start a new eBook and title it, “How Many Light Bulbs Does It Take To Shine On A Fake” or “How Many Light Bulbs Does It Take To Get A Bright Idea” You know, the things of that nature… which are typical of the things I tend to rant about time to time on my blog.

For those out there who develop strategies, bullshit products and scams who rob from the uneducated and ignorant, it’s time that you stop. It is time that you pack your bags and get off the blogosphere. This is something that has bothered me more and more over time. As the months go by, I continue to bite my tongue, I continue to be respectful and continue to hold my thoughts and keep them reserved to myself.

But I must say this… it is getting very difficult to do so. It is getting even more difficult to keep myself from dropping “Call Out Bombs” on all the idiots out here in the blogosphere who are claimed to be experts but in reality are fakes. I can’t stand people who mislead others. I don’t like people who trick others and I sure as hell can’t stand people that lie.

I very well might say screw it and start calling out some names of the people who reside in what I call the StupidoSphere. So let this be a warning to anyone who sends me an email, drops me an IM or visits my blog: If you’re a fake, and pretend to be someone you’re not, take this as an official warning that I very well may blog about you and call you out on your bluff and publicly display you as the true fake and liar you are.

Have a nice day! LOL!!!

How Many Button Banner Ads Does It Take To Screw In A Light Bulb?

I just find this very entertaining, enough so for me to actually waste about ten minutes of my life to write about it on my blog. What the hell is up with 125×125 button banner ads on blogs? They are a sickness, a disease, they’re Satan in a digital dot Com form. LOL!!! Seriously, it was just last month where I fell into the trap and had them all over my blog like it was going out of style. I caught myself though… I was looking into the light and said, “Dude… don’t look into the button banner ad light!”

Anyway, I might sound like I am joking and I obviously sound like I am writing this in fun and in good nature; but I am serious! What the hell is going on with 125×125 button banner ads. First off, these things were way popular in the mid 90’s and some how they have creeped back into style again, which is fine! There is nothing wrong with the actual 125×125 button banner.

But the problem is not in the banner itself but it how much it is being used. It’s almost like crack or some other widely abused drug. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a new show appear on A&E called Bannervention. I have seen blogs start to use these buttons, taking up a little bit of space on their sidebar… usually it would be typical to see only one button per row.

Today’s blogs are much different. I am seeing blogs proudly displaying their 125×125 button banner ads three wide which takes up a minimum of 325 pixels of space, assuming there is no additional CSS margins, padding or spacing involved. Heck, it is evident that new WordPress themes are being created just for the purpose of displaying these little square crack rock jewels.

So what’s next? We started with single wide… it wasn’t long after, bloggers decided to upgrade and live the white trash trailer life and live it up “Double Wide” and now I am starting to see blogs going “Triple Wide”, so what’s next… are we going to eventually make our sidebars wider than our web page body column?

What are your thoughts? Are sidebar advertisements getting a little bit out of control? Are you really making any freaking money with them? Do you think that the 125×125 button banner ads are getting out of control? Drop me a comment with your thoughts either way… I wan to hear what you have to say about this one for sure!

BTW: This is my last post until I get back from Disney World on March 3rd. Play nice… drop me tons of comments and I’ll see you all when I return. You can call and leave me a voice mail at 931-368-4120 with any questions for my blog. When I get back I’ll answer your questions live on my blog.

Top Five Ways To Better Invest Your Time Blogging

David Cooley asks, “how many hours do I spend blogging?” that is a pretty good question to ask. My answer is, Too many! All kidding aside, I usually have a computer up and running very close to 24 hours a day. Whether I am conscious when the computer is running, thats another question. It is funny that David called in this question. A few months ago I ran a survey and asked my readers the same question. The results were amazing. Over 54% of my readers invest 41 hours per week blogging. To me that is some shocking news. I fall right around that bracket, although I didn’t take my own survey.

So David brings up a really good question: How many hours do you spend each week blogging? And I can quickly see how this question can help me extend to you some other questions. How well are you using your time blogging? Time is something that we can’t control. It will always be and it will always slowly tick away.

As bloggers we can control a lot of things. But one thing that can’t be controlled is time. What are some things that you’re doing as a blogger to better manage your time online? Here are a few thoughts of mind that come to mind.

  1. Don’t check your email first thing in the morning. If there is really anything truly urgent or pressing in your inbox, the sender will go to extended lengths to contact you. Checking your email first thing in the morning basically dictates how you’re going to invest your time.
  2. Before doing anything, ask yourself what you want to do today with blogging. Have a plan, have some goals and spend the day ‘On Task’. When you have completed your goals then aimlessly surf the Internet.
  3. Turn your Instant Messengers OFF until you have completed your ‘Self Assigned’ work for the day. Instant messengers are just like email and have the same effects as checking email, but they’re much worse… they’re instant!
  4. Invest your time and money smartly. If you know that in your life you can only invest two hours per day blogging, then don’t get your hands into projects that will take 1500 hours to complete. If you feel very strongly that the project will be successful, hire someone to do it for you. If you’re not willing to invest money into an idea that you thoughts of, then it’s probably a crappy idea and won’t work! Look at it this way… if you were asking a lender for money to support your idea, he would ask the same thing, “would you be willing to invest money into your own project if you had it?” Whether you’d answer truthful, that’s your deal, but deep inside you know the truth… and if the answer was NO, then your idea sucks and move on.
  5. Barter, Exchange and Swap Professional Services. There is no reason in the world why you should expect yourself to rule the world by yourself. Ask a friend or trusted partner for help. Two heads are better than one. For example, let’s say that you need someone to help with writing content on your blog. Strike a deal with a writer so that they can begin writing quality content on your blog. They might want something that you can do that they can’t. An example of this is with me. Many writers want to become bloggers, but they don’t know the first thing with starting a blog, let alone designing them. So in my search for writers, I exchange out my professional service for theirs. I find writers who need me and my skills with building blogs. I build them their blog and exchange they write content for me.

Five Tips on How To Increase FeedBurner Subscribers

Here is a free style article that offers some pure insight and suggestion on how you can increase your FeedBurner RSS subscribers.

  1. Don’t refer to this as “Increasing Your FeedBurner RSS Subscription numbers. These are real people, with real feeling, thoughts and emotions. They are not to be associated with numbers. If I want to be associated with a number, I’ll go sit in the waiting room of a doctor’s office.
  2. Consider the fact that many of the people visiting your site for the first time are not really bloggers. They are people who landed on a post page within your blog who are simply searching for information. The information they seek happens to be written on your blog. Invite these people to visit often and explain to them how the best way to do that is. Provide a written paragraph at the bottom of your pages briefly explaining about your RSS feed and how it can benefit the users who stumbled on one of your posts from a search engine.
  3. Stay on topic. People typically read your blog because they are interested in your expertise in the topic you blog about. They too share a common interest and will tend to link to you numerous times from their own blog. For the people that link to you on many occasions, you should contact them and thank them and also ask if they wouldn’t mind mentioning about your RSS feed next time they plan on writing about you.
  4. Word of Mouth Marketing: Very important! I am sure that most of us have a decent sized email address list. However, within that list, there may only be a handful of people that we’re really close to. That is absolutely perfect for tip #4, which again is, Word of Mouth Marketing is Powerful. Take 10 people, your most closest email buddies and send them an individual email and ask them if they wouldn’t mind taking a moment to send an email to a few of their closets friends explaining about your blog. For example, If I received an email from David Cooley, Mark Sierra, Christine Senter or Joel Comm telling me about a personal favorite blog that they like to read, I would definitely check it out and I am very sure that I would subscribe to it. Why? Because a close friend sent me an email with a recommendation. I truth my friend’s judgment. Word of mouth marketing is very powerful. Send an email to ten trusted and well known friends and ask them to help spread the word about you.
  5. How has monetizing been working for you? Not too good… that’s ok! Ask yourself if you would be more successful winning clicks into your RSS subscription form or more clicks into Google Adsense. If you think that you would get more clicks into your RSS subscription form compared to monetizing campaign clicks, then lose the monetization and self promote your RSS feed instead.

After reading this post, what else can you think of? What I have written is a great start, but I am sure there are tons of more tips. What can you think of? It doesn’t matter how big or small or even how stupid it might seem. A tip is a tip and I would love for you to share yours. Drop me a comment and help me expand on this topic. How else can a blogger increase their Feedburner Subscribers?
