A Little Heart to Heart Message To My Readers Regarding Advertising On My Blog
As many readers know, I have been working quite a bit on the advertisement system on my blog. I really feel like my advertisement system is very unique compared to others. Quite honestly, the system has been built for you in mind. My prices are dirt cheap for one reason and one reason alone, and that is to help my readers get some really good exposure at a very affordable price.
I sell banner ads on my blog for $5.95 per month. These banners are strategically positioned on the hottest spots on my blog. I even go so far as to provide a free banner graphic design for my readers who either don’t have a graphic or simply don’t have the ability to create one. Along with the banner advertisement service, I also provide contextual link advertisements and article submission services.
All of these services are designed for you. The prices are set very low so that no one feels like they are turned down. I want to provide an affordable service to any reader regardless of how much or how little money they have in their back pocket. It wasn’t very long ago when I first started blogging. I clearly remember how it was.
Back when I first started blogging, the bigger blogs would never interact with me, nor would they be nice and give me a break. In fact, most of the bigger blogs wouldn’t even give me the time of day. Quite honestly, that sucked. I can’t really put it any other way. And because of how I was treated back in the early days is why I am: a.) Extremely aggressive with my competitors and, b.) Why I am very kind to my readers and new bloggers who are struggling.
Today, my blog attracts the interest of really high profile people such as Joel Comm, Kris Jones, Andy Beard and Thor Schrock. I stir up a lot of controversy, I speak my mind and that seems to capture the attention of many people. But I am not all about publishing content that creates emotion among people, especially high profile figures. I am more about providing information that help bloggers who are in the early stages of things, just like I was not too long ago.
Consequently, the advertisement system I have created also follows these standards. My ad system is in place for my readers. With that being said, I have to set some rules and boundaries regarding my advertisement system. For some time now, I thought that maybe some behaviors would settle down over time, but I was wrong. So now, I have to address this publicly.
I do not provide an advertisement service for people who want to exploit my cheap pricing by signing up and advertising affiliate based products. Quite honestly, if I wanted to sell these same products, I would. The reason why I don’t is because most of them are scams or totally waste my reader’s time.
Time and time again, I continue to reject advertisement requests. My services are here for my readers and bloggers who just need a little break in life. To be forward with you, the pricing of my various advertisement services could very well be triple the prices reflected on my advertisement rate card.
My advertisement services are NOT for people who are looking for a loop hole in the system. Many marketers are attracted to my advertisement system for the simple fact that they know that they can generate a tons of money by advertising so cheaply on my blog. And that is NOT why I provide an advertisement service on my blog.
In closing of this announcement, I want to let everyone know that I have created a wonderful system that I only wish existed two years ago when I first started blogging. My goal is to cater to my readers and provide them with a very affordable and effective advertisement service.
The advertisement services provided on my personal blog is not going to make me rich. I have other blogs that focus on making huge amounts of money. My advertisement services are designed to help you gain more exposure and increase your readership so that one day you too can reap the benefits of running a successful blog.
Please do not sign up for any of my advertisement services if you intend to exploit my cheap prices by requesting to advertise a product or service that you don’t own. Do not sign up and request to point links to affiliate based products such as items found in ClickBank. This is a service that caters to the folks who need effective advertising for a price that is very reasonable for their budget.

Hi Garry,
I do agree that what you’re doing here is pretty unique, compared to what other bloggers provide on their sites. Advertising is expensive, so I really think that your price of $5.95 is more than affordable, it’s a good break for those who are looking for a break as you mentioned. It must be tough however keeping up with making sure the destination links are good. Unfortunately I think you can expect that with anything you do, there’s always going to be someone who will take advantage and push it.
Keep it up Garry, your service is very well appreciated!

Charlie,
Thank you so much for the supportive comment. It is actually pretty time consuming to provide this service as it does require quite a bit of maintenance. When an advertisers signs up, I have to immediately add their information into a Google Docs spreadsheet, then compile the information submitted and work towards getting the advertisement places into my system. In some cases I’ll even crack open PhotoShop and create the graphic for the advertiser.
All in all, I enjoy doing the work because I know that in the long run it totally helps the people that have put trust into my towards providing them with a service that I only wish existed back two years ago when I was first getting started.
Thanks again for the comment and for reading my blog and supporting my advertisement programs.

Hey Gary good to see some rooting for the underdog. I’m going to get a cool 125×125 ad done and I’ll be contacting you shortly. I’m curious are you doing this manually, or using a software to rotate the ads. I’m sure you’ll have all sorts of demand for this product. Any other requirements ie traffic figures and what not.

Hey Garry,
This is the reason I decided to go with your advertising campaign. Because I know I’ll be sitting beside other bloggers who are trying to scratch out an existance on the net, instead of fighting my way through hoards of get rich schemes.
I’ve never met anyone else that would decline advertisers based on what they were trying to get noticed, and that is the main reason I love this site. No nonsense advertising, at a price that the little guy (or gal) can afford, and placement in all the right places.
I wish more A-listers thought like you.

For the months that I have been reading your blog and working with you Garry, you’ve always given me good advice (even though I couldn’t afford to pay you) and you’ve helped me grow as a blogger in so many ways.
As for the ads on your site, I found three new blogs that I gain great value from and I had never heard of them til they advertised on your site.
It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to figure out that if you wanted affiliate ads on your site, you would have said so, or done it yourself.
You really do try to help people and that puts you in a position to be taken advantage of. But you are still a better person because of your helping attitude. And, quite honestly, I prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes new affiliates are DESPERATE to make money and will try every avenue.
Now that you’ve explained your policies, it should occur to EVERYONE that you are offering an advantage to popularize the advertiser’s OWN site and products.
Thank you again for all your help,
Brennan

Hello Garry,
tonight an email has dropped to my mailbox:
—
My name is XY and I am looking to buy links from good websites as yours.
I will be glad if I can have a text link or a text box 120×60 or 125×125 on your site. Please advise what what will be the price for each of these ads, if it is placed:
1. On your homepage only
2. On all site pages
—
So, what would should i do, in your opinion?
- Nicola
Date/Time: 3-30-2008 11:05:09 Comment #12981
I wouldn’t do anything about it. XY simply is just trying to buy ranking to his site. Let’s pretend that you have a blog about laptops and rank #1 organically for the keyword phrase, “laptop tips and tricks”.
Let’s also pretend that you don’t have a lot of money and can not pay for any kind of sponsored listing services in the search engines. The only thing that you have is your organic ranking which you work very hard to keep.
Suddenly you see some jerk who goes by the name of XY who has just overtaken your spot in Google. “How did that happen!!!”, you ask yourself.
It happened because XY is rich and has a lot of money to spend on buying his way to the top of a natural and organic search engine. XY uses his money to cheat they system and the publishers who organically rank for the words in the system.
So you asked me what I do when I receive emails like this?
Answer: I report them to Google and at many times I trick the sender by sounding interested in their offer. From there, they are eager to spill the beans and give me excellent information that will end up getting used towards submitting into Google.
These people are cheaters and I can’t stand people who cheat.

Hello Garry, i replied to that email with these words:
—
Hello Sir, thanks for contacting me.
I could place a 125×125 box in my homepage and also in all site pages, but please i would like to know more about your business: what exactly do you own or sell? I would like to be sure that your business is perfectly matched to mine, to get the most from advertising.
—
So, let’s see what is gonna happen….
p.s. XY it was just posted by me to hide his name here, he signed the email actually with a real name
Date/Time: 3-30-2008 14:42:59 Comment #12988
p.s. i can send you privately the URL, you should try to help me understanding if it is a scam or not… i whois-ed the domain name and it seems registered 1995!
