An Alternative Way To Make Money Online by Building Micro Niche Websites That Target Localized Traffic
There are many ways to make money online. If you have been reading my blog for some time now, you know that I make money by building micro niche websites that target high paying keyword phrases which people actively search for in search engines. Money is earned by monetizing the content using programs such as Google AdSense. With that said, here is another spin on how you can make money online by building micro niche websites.
In this article, I am going to show you how you can easily build a micro niche lawn care website that can be used to target localized traffic in your home town. The difference between what I am going to show you today, compared to other articles I have written covering this topic is how you get paid.
Typically, in the past, when I cover the topic of building micro niche websites, the method of earning money is with using programs such as Google AdSense. The object to the game with building micro niche websites is to develop a site, write content, and rank for profitable keywords that yield a high monthly search count. In my experience with doing keyword research, finding keywords that closely match this perfect blend can be challenging.
So what would happen if you build a site based off researched keywords that have a decent volume of monthly searches, have a very low level of competition, but don’t pay very well? Well, I believe that the result would end with the site earning much less compared to other micro niche websites that target keywords that yield a higher per click. That’s obvious right? With that said, let’s think out of the box for a moment. It is easy to have narrow vision on making money online. In actuality there are many ways to make money online. Furthermore, there are many ways to make money online with a micro niche website. It isn’t always about Google AdSense, right?
Here is the idea I have and want to share with you. Recently, I hired a lawn care guy to start cutting my lawn. I found him because he left a flier in my mailbox and I decided to call him. Is that effective marketing? Maybe so… but in my opinion, that is a lot of hard work to travel across town inserting fliers into mailboxes all day. But, the lawn care guy really doesn’t know any other form of marketing. Also, it is obvious that he doesn’t know about search engines, especially Google. That is where you kick in! And no… you’re not going to pitch him on building a website for him. I mean you can, but that in itself leads to an entire different article.
The idea is to build a micro niche website that targets localized lawn care keywords within your home town. Unlike other micro niche websites that earn money using Google AdSense, the localized lawn care site that you build will earn money when lawn care businesses pay you to be listed on them. Your goal is to build a localized lawn care website and get the site to rank well for localized keywords typical of what people would search for in Google to find lawn care businesses in your local home town. Once that happens, then you have created something that lawn care businesses need: An affordable and effective place to advertise their business.
Once you have built and established ranking in search engines for the localized keyword phrases you want, then it is simply a matter of contacting the local lawn care businesses and presenting the amazing advertisement opportunity you have for them. You can easily present them with traffic reports that illustrate how much traffic your site receives. Most importantly, you can illustrate the level of “Quality Leads” your traffic can generate for them. From there, you would need to already have an established pricing structure. My suggestion would be to create your site as a simple one page design and offer 25 ad spots available and charge more money for the higher positions and decrease the price for the lower positions.
An Example Could Look Like This:
Lawn Care Business Listing #1 – A twenty word description about this business goes here. Also included is their phone number and website address if they have one. The cost = $125/ month.
Lawn Care Business Listing #2 – A twenty word description about this business goes here. Also included is their phone number and website address if they have one. The cost = $120/ month.
Lawn Care Business Listing #3 – A twenty word description about this business goes here. Also included is their phone number and website address if they have one. The cost = $115/ month.
Lawn Care Business Listing #4 – A twenty word description about this business goes here. Also included is their phone number and website address if they have one. The cost = $110/ month.
Lawn Care Business Listing #5 – A twenty word description about this business goes here. Also included is their phone number and website address if they have one. The cost = $105/ month.
Lawn Care Business Listing #6 – A twenty word description about this business goes here. Also included is their phone number and website address if they have one. The cost = $100/ month.
Lawn Care Business Listing #7 – A twenty word description about this business goes here. Also included is their phone number and website address if they have one. The cost = $95/ month.
Lawn Care Business Listing #8 – A twenty word description about this business goes here. Also included is their phone number and website address if they have one. The cost = $90/ month.
Lawn Care Business Listing #9 – A twenty word description about this business goes here. Also included is their phone number and website address if they have one. The cost = $85/ month.
Lawn Care Business Listing #10 – A twenty word description about this business goes here. Also included is their phone number and website address if they have one. The cost = $80/ month.
Lawn Care Business Listing #11 – A twenty word description about this business goes here. Also included is their phone number and website address if they have one. The cost = $75/ month.
Lawn Care Business Listing #12 – A twenty word description about this business goes here. Also included is their phone number and website address if they have one. The cost = $70/ month.
Lawn Care Business Listing #13 – A twenty word description about this business goes here. Also included is their phone number and website address if they have one. The cost = $65/ month.
Lawn Care Business Listing #14 – A twenty word description about this business goes here. Also included is their phone number and website address if they have one. The cost = $60/ month.
Lawn Care Business Listing #15 – A twenty word description about this business goes here. Also included is their phone number and website address if they have one. The cost = $55/ month.
Lawn Care Business Listing #16 – A twenty word description about this business goes here. Also included is their phone number and website address if they have one. The cost = $50/ month.
Lawn Care Business Listing #17 – A twenty word description about this business goes here. Also included is their phone number and website address if they have one. The cost = $45/ month.
Lawn Care Business Listing #18 – A twenty word description about this business goes here. Also included is their phone number and website address if they have one. The cost = $40/ month.
Lawn Care Business Listing #19 – A twenty word description about this business goes here. Also included is their phone number and website address if they have one. The cost = $35/ month.
Lawn Care Business Listing #20 – A twenty word description about this business goes here. Also included is their phone number and website address if they have one. The cost = $30/ month.
Lawn Care Business Listing #21 – A twenty word description about this business goes here. Also included is their phone number and website address if they have one. The cost = $25/ month.
Lawn Care Business Listing #22 – A twenty word description about this business goes here. Also included is their phone number and website address if they have one. The cost = $20/ month.
Lawn Care Business Listing #23 – A twenty word description about this business goes here. Also included is their phone number and website address if they have one. The cost = $15/ month.
Lawn Care Business Listing #24 – A twenty word description about this business goes here. Also included is their phone number and website address if they have one. The cost = $10/ month.
Lawn Care Business Listing #25 – A twenty word description about this business goes here. Also included is their phone number and website address if they have one. The cost = $5/ month.
If you do the math, and assuming I did the math correctly, this one simple webpage could make a maximum of $1,625 per month, based off the pricing structure above. All this, because you created a site that provides an excellent medium for lawn care businesses to effectively advertise their localized lawn care services.
Here is one thing that may concern you, and believe me, it concerns me too. I hate cold calling. I am NOT good at sales, nor am I good at CLOSING DEALS. But that is ok! If you are like me, then you may find it a huge challenge to fill these ad spots up. Recognizing this is half the battle.
The solution: Ask a friend or family member to do it for you and offer them a percentage of the sales or an incentive to do so. For example: Let’s say that you’re a stay at home mom, very passive, and shy. You say to yourself, “There is NO WAY, I am going to pick up the phone and cold call!” Instead of stressing about it, ask your husband or boyfriend to do it each evening when he gets home from work. Tell him, “Honey, if you close these sales for me, you can get the 60 LCD Flat-Screen you have always wanted!”
The key element to realize is that you may be very good at doing what you do, such as building amazing websites. But you might not be good at doing other things, such as calling a lawn care professional with the aim of selling him an advertisement. My advice is for you to do what you do best, and then to find other people who do the other things best that you need in order to make your idea work. If you don’t have any problems with selling, then that just means more money in your pocket.
In summary, the concept behind this idea is to take a skill that you already know very well: Building Micro Niche Websites, and using this skill to earn money in a different way other than Google AdSense. By doing this, you will discover a world of keywords that deliver amazing amounts of traffic without worrying whether the AdSense clicks pay good or not. Also, doing something like this gives you the freedom to control and KNOW exactly how much your site can potentially make month to month. One last thing to mention is the fact that this method can work for many different localized business niches: Car Sales, Computer Repair, Day Care, Home Improvement, Heating and Air, House Cleaning, Landscaping, Plumbing, and more.
Additional Tips On Ranking
Here are some additional tips that can totally help you with ranking and dominating your localized search result page for lawn care keywords. Observe the screen shot below:
The first section comes from Google Maps. Did you know that local businesses are able to submit their business into Google Maps for free? When they do, their business pulls up on the map listings above the organic listings. You can get your micro niche lawn care web site listed here too! All you need is a physical mailing address and a phone number. I understand that you might not want to use your own mailing address. The solution: Get a PO Box, or a UPS Store Mailbox. I understand that you might not want to use your own telephone number. Solution: Get a free telephone number from places such as GrandCentral (coming soon). In the mean time, you can search for GrandCentral Alternatives. The process of getting your business registered and listed in Google Maps takes about two weeks. Once again, it is free and eventually you will take a spot on the map.
The next section is the Sponsored Links section. This is controlled with the Google AdWords Program. You may want to consider throwing in $50 to $100 dollars into the Google AdWords Program and at a minimum, at least observe the cost to include your site in this section as well. You may be surprised to discover how cheap the current bids are.
The last section is the organic ranking. I have provided you with many previously published articles that provide amazing tips on how to gain superior organic ranking. However, let me summarize a few things of importance.
Domain Name Selection
Don’t believe the hype. Choosing a domain name does influence your search engine ranking. Ideally it is best to choose a domain name that matches your target keyword phrase exactly. Examples would include: YourTownLawnCare.com, Your-Town-Lawn-Care.com, LawnCareInYourTown.com, Lawn-Care-In-Your-Town.com. In reference to the use of hyphens, I always select in this order:
- YourName.com
- YourName.net
- Your-Name.com
- Your-Name.net
Typically, I never purchase .org, .info, .me, or .biz domain names because they really don’t hold a lot of value and in my experience I don’t see a lot of these domain names pull up well in the search results.
Content Writing
Writing excellent and unique content is very important. The trick to writing content geared towards ranking for keywords is balancing a natural writing style with lightly packing in keywords and coming in un-detected by Google’s AI. Google is very smart and they can sniff out un-natural writing very easily. Some of the things that Google looks for are examples such as this:
Example #1 – Keyword Stuffing / Un-natural Writing:
Lawn Care In Clarksville Tennessee
If you are looking for lawn care in Clarksville Tennessee, there are many lawn care providers who perform lawn care services in Clarksville Tennessee who do a wonderful job in the lawn care business within the city of Clarksville Tennessee. This website was created to give residents of Clarksville Tennessee who need lawn care service in Clarksville Tennessee a listing of available lawn care businesses who provide lawn care services within Clarksville Tennessee.
The above is an example of keyword stuffing. Google does not like this because it doesn’t reflect natural writing and it is obvious that the content is geared towards targeting the keywords rather than providing anything useful for end users. A better way to write content that is useful while also balancing keyword targeting would be something like this:
Example #2 – Balanced Keyword Targeting / Natural Writing:
Lawn Care In Clarksville Tennessee
Are you looking for lawn care in Clarksville Tennessee? This page has a complete listing of affordable and dependable lawn care businesses who serve residents in Clarksville Tennessee and surrounding areas. Finding a lawn care professional to provide you with professional service can sometimes be a challenge. We recognize that, and once again, that is why we created this site. Our goal is to help you find the best lawn care service for your home in Clarksville Tennessee and surrounding areas. If you should have any comments, questions or even suggestions, please feel free to contact us.
The second example serves the same purpose as the first example. The primary difference is the fact that the second example is well written, natural, and does an excellent job explaining about the purpose of the site and what people can expect to see while also balancing the strategy of keyword targeting.
Keyword Density
Keyword density is another element that Google pays a lot of attention to. In my experience, the sweet spot keyword density percentage should be around 1.5% to 2.5%. Meaning whatever your primary keyword phrase is that you are targeting, you should NOT take up more than 1.5% to 2.5% of your actual content. If it exceeds this percentage, then it can put your content and ability to successfully rank for your keyword phrase at risk. You are welcome to use my favorite place for inspecting content keyword density.
The other element with keyword density is in how you choose to use your keyword phrases in your content itself. Various levels of WEIGHT are placed on where and how your keyword phrases are found within your content. In my experience, the most important areas to have your primary keyword phrases in a standard HTML document include:
- title Tag
- meta description
- meta title
- H1 and H2 Tag
- a title Tag
- img alt Tag
- Strong Tag
- permalink / URL
Let’s put all these elements into a simple example HTML document. Please observe below:
Example of a Simple HTML Document
<head>
<title>Primary Keyword Phrase</title>
<meta name=”description” content=”Describe your site and include your Primary Keyword Phrase” />
<meta name=”keywords” content=”Primary Keyword Phrase, Related Keywords, Similar Keywords, Found In Your Content” />
</head>
<body>
<a title=”Primary Keyword Phrase” href=”http://www.PrimaryKeywordPrases.com/”><img alt=”Primary Keyword Phrase” src=”images/primary-keyword-phrase.jpg”></a>
<h1>Primary Keyword Phrase</h1>
<p>Paragraphs of text that should include your <strong>Primary Keyword Phrase</strong>. This content should be unique, very useful, and should provide excellent value and information to end users while also targeting your Primary Keyword Phrase. </p>
</body>
</html>
In the above example, you can see how I have used the primary keyword phrase is the areas of the HTML document where they count the most. Your web page title should match your primary keyword phrase, your meta description and meta keywords should have an your primary keyword phrase included, an image should be named your primary-keyword-phrase.jpg, your image mouse over text should be your primary keyword phrase, your actual primary keyword phrase should be hyperlinked and the alt (or also referred to as your mouse over text) should be your primary keyword phrase, somewhere in your HTML document another instance of your primary keyword phrase should be encased in strong tags, your domain name itself / the permalink should be your primary keyword phrase.
This is SEO! That is why I have said many times in the past that people tend to over-complicate SEO. Creating a search engine friendly web page is nothing more than using proper HTML code and carefully writing content in a way that is natural but also creatively packs in the keyword phrases you want to target. Of course, the last elements include submitting your site into Google, Yahoo, and other search engines and registering your site with services such as Google Webmaster Tools and Yahoo Site Explorer. Additionally, link building is something that you should strongly consider doing as well.
I hope that you take a lot from reading this article. I know that I covered a lot of ground so if you have any questions, please by all means, feel free to ask. I would enjoy your feedback and comments, and also I would like to see if there is anything you can add. Hi Garry,
It is a great idea that anyone can use to create a new stream of income.
You explained it in details, so that now anyone can use the info you share here and start doing this.
There are lot of way to make money online… Only your imagination can limit you
Thanks,
^PV Reymond
Garry,
This is great information on both a new idea and SEO! I started thinking “Why limit this to lawn care?” Carpet cleaning, home repair, garage door installation, auto repair, auto detailing, etc.. There are so many ways to market. The cold calling thing sort of sucks. However, most of these businesses are mom and pop. They probably are not internet savvy. When they find out that advertising will only cost them $5-$15 a month, they will think they are getting a steal…which they are. The sales pitch will not matter much if you can save them money and show them a way to generate more income. Yellow page advertising is pricey! Newspaper add cost a lot and may not work.
Have a great weekend!
Mark
Awesome article. You are always ahead of the crowd.
Now you are speaking my language.
Some additional info for your readers.
On your locally targeted page, include all of the zip codes in your local community. Something like this:
“We service these areas: 37167, 37129, 37198 etc…”
Include the area code in your local phone number.
Contact local bloggers through Google’s blog search tool and request links, ask for a content contribution where you basically submit a post for their blog that would look like a local press release. A blogroll link would be nice to get as well from local blogs.
If you can afford to, host the site in the same city you are targeting. Google offers significant relevance to locally hosted sites in a local search. Point geographically targeted anchor text links to the site, this will help the Google local listing show up beside the map.
There are probably a few other things I could mention but those are the basics.
Glad to see you are sticking around.
Hi Garry,
I am very glad to read this post and that you have decided to continue to help folk who are struggling to make it a success online.
Thanks
Amir
Garry, this is another great tip. I agree with you that people make SEO too complicated — if you follow the SEO blogs it just leads to analysis paralysis because they make it seem so difficult.
Phew! You had me going there with your email! So happy to decided to continue. What a great article and tips on SEO. I especially appreciate the examples of unnatural vs natural writing.
See you later,
Theresa
Hey Garry!
I am so glad you are forging ahead and building on what you have been working on!
I just skimmed this article and it looks useful to me so I will be reading it carefully soon.

Awesome post Garry,
I’ve seen alot of local marketing ideas lately, but once again you’ve supplied us with original ideas that can really work. I love the keyword examples.
Gotta go though, you’ve inspired me to count all the celing tiles in my building. Who would of thought it could be so fun?
It was hard for me to think of a hobby because I really don’t have any hobbies that could have been used in humor like that in the email. I just remembered when I was bored as heck in school, I used to tilt my head back and count ceiling tiles. Of course, now as an adult, I wish I had paid more attention in school. hehe
This is excellent information Terry, thanks for providing everyone with your expert SEO advice and adding to the quality of this article.
Garry I wish you wrote this atleast 5 years ago! I had an idea almost exactly like this but the people around me thought it wouldn’t work and I didn’t know how to write websites so I eventually gave up on it.
Assuming your math is correct and you can get 25 paid listings and keep them every month with 2 sites like this most people can quit their day jobs. I know I would make more money with 2 of these sites than my current job.
Good to hear you are going to continue writing on the topic of making money online!
As long as everyone isn’t pointing and laughing behind me I am cool with that.
Garry you ass. Just like I never read directions all the way through, I didn’t read your latest e-mail all the way through and actually thought you folded the site. I was browsing your site for 10 minutes trying to figure out what you changed and then I looked at the e-mail again.
May fools on me.
BTW.. This post is a great idea. Endless possibilities.
Totally agree… I’ll bring this paragraph from the article just in case a few people missed this point:
One last thing to mention is the fact that this method can work for many different localized business niches: Car Sales, Computer Repair, Day Care, Home Improvement, Heating and Air, House Cleaning, Landscaping, Plumbing, and more.
Thanks Mark, I am glad that you enjoyed reading the article.
Would it be bad to admit that I considered writing a different topic but realized that I don’t really know of anything else to write about? Hehe… of course, I am joking… well, partly!
analysis paralysis… Most excellent way to express how many people feel while following the typical information published on some of the more known SEO blogs.
I do own the domain name, SeoBlogTips.com, I wonder if I should blow the dust off that old domain get get something up and running? I am not an SEO Expert, but then again, I don’t see the complication in SEO, maybe that would make for a pretty cool blog?
Yeah! You had me going too! I felt like a huge “help-door” had just slammed on my face… never to reopen again!
Thanks from all of us for showing us what you’re really made of!
The info you’ve provided above is really going to help me a lot. Thanks for sharing your knowledge to the rest of us. And again, thanks for leaving the door open!
Regards,
Alfred
Do you have another song for me about the stress and trama that you were subjected to? LOL
You’re welcome. I tried to shut it, but there we too many people pushing it open and flooding in with rope, duct tape, and other strange objects that I have yet to identify.
Hi Scott,
Something like this will totally work TODAY, regardless if the vision was conceived of five years ago. Sounds like you know how to build sites, and I am sure the information provided in this article as well as previous ones I have published will give you everything you need to get going.
Also, and this is just me talking, I can’t say that I don’t care what other people think. But, I can say this: If I have an idea, dream, or vision, and I am very strong about it. I don’t care if the President told me it was a bad idea… I am still going to push through and execute. If afterward, my idea turns out to be a failure, granted… I will have a bunch of people who say, “Ha, Ha, I told you so..” but so what, at least I tried, where other people in this world die never trying to be different or unique.
This post is stellar Garry!! I’ve paid good money for ebooks with far less usable info than this post.
I’m so glad you’ve decided to continue to share YOU with us!
Have fun in PA (it’s finally sunny and warm – no snow!

I just socked this morning when I got mail from you that you decided to shut down my blog and stop writing about making money online! I really got your May Fool Joke!
Really Excellent and really deep research Garry. I just realized this kind of site a few months ago, and now trying to build one. I hope I could get success from this kind of site.
thanks Garry

Glad to see that you are not closing your blog down. Very good post and tips as usual Garry. Funny enough, I have actually implemented registering my local business on Google Maps. I am amazed at how many phone calls and emails I get because of that.
Last week, I received an email from a local reporter from ABC News Station in San Diego wanting to interview me on my Aquaponics Venture (SoCal Aquaponics) and a tour of my facility. My website http://www.SocalFishFarm dot com is ranking very well for the keyword “Aquaponics” and also on Google Maps Local Search.
I have to say first hand that what you wrote in your blog post actually does work.
Garry,
Do you have any sites currently up and running like this with this pricing structure?
And is it working well?
Thanks,
Scott
Garry,
You’ve described an interesting concept. However, I see some flaws in it:
1) Do you really think you can get a new, 1-page website to rank high? Using some of the topics you mentioned like lawn care, car sales, computer repair, etc. No matter what city you’re in, there are likely businesses that have already built websites to promote those services. I doubt you’ll be able to rank ahead of them with just a 1-page site.
2) In your example, you plan to sell 25 ads. First, are there even 25 companies in that niche locally that would be prospective advertisers? Second, even if there are, and assuming you convince them to advertise with you, aren’t most of them going to be disappointed at the results they get? In all likelihood only the first couple listed will get any new clients from your website, so I doubt they’d be willing to continue paying your monthly rates.
3) Your rates are pretty darn high for the top listers. Don’t you think they’d realize they’d be better off buying PPCs that link to their own website?
Again, Garry, your concept of mico niche websites is intriguing, but I don’t think you’re being realistic about its potential success.
Garry,
I almost had a H-attack after I saw your previous “I Quit” headline…glad to see you are retooling your approach, with input from friends. After reading your concerns of potential business loss and post comments, I concluded that you should not have anything to fear. Your constant flow of ideas will keep you ahead of any potential competition and your sharing and giving spirit will always result in quantum returns — more than you ever thought.
Now to the topic of micro niche sites for localized traffic. I found in my archives an idea that parallels Garry’s, before local Google/Yahoo, but it seems to be thriving since the lady in Rockport, Texas is doing “just fine”.
Please forgive the long quote:
========================================================
“Another Directory and Another Way To Get Customers
There is a lady named Sharon Lambkin. She has a local
directory serving the Rockport Texas area.
http://rockport-etc.com
Sharon has a very unique way of getting customers. She uses
what some call the puppy dog close. You know, Mom takes
little Nancy to the pet store just to look around. The kind
salesperson says, handing a cute puppy to little Nancy, “Lady,
let your little girl take the puppy home for a while, if you don’t
want it, just bring it back.” Sharon does the same thing. She creates an
ad on her directory for her potential customer. She sends a notice for
the small business owner to “Look at your ad at rockport-etc.com “If
you would like to leave it up just contact me and we can
work out the details.” No hard sell here, Sharon gives the
business owner some free publicity for a while and gives him
the opportunity to keep the ad up only if he wants to.
Sharon and others had their local directories up long before
Google and Yahoo went “local.” I can’t help but think that the
“little guys” prompted Google and other big boys to do the local
directory thing also. Don’t despair. You can still walk down any
business street in your city and pull money out of thin air even
with the competition from the big boys. Why? Because they
can’t give the customer what you can give them. PERSONAL
ATTENTION! In this world and time when we are just numbers
and one out of many customers, you can give your customers
what the big guys can’t; your personal attention”
================================================
Enjoy,
MikeR
Susan, I would have to disagree with you when say “Garry, your concept of mico niche websites is intriguing, but I don’t think you’re being realistic about its potential success.”
I have been developing micro niche sites since August of last year. I first of all heard of the concept from an Internet Marketer by the name of Ed Dale whom I have also have had the pleasure of meeting. I took his 30 Day Challenge last year in August and the results have been phenomenal. The results of that challenge can be seen when you type in the keyword “Aquaponics.” The name of the site is SoCal Aquaponics.
Just like Garry, I use Google Adsense, but I am also on the Ebay Partner Network. I have dozens of sites that are micro niches that make money both with both Google Adsense and Ebay.
Maybe Garry did not go into specifics, but I would like to think that he was kind enough to share his idea and we as readers of his blog posts can think outside of the box and implement the concept he has put forward. The concept might not work in small suburban cities that do not get a lot of searches, but I can definitely see them working in cities such as Los Angeles and its environs. I would also like to think that the rates he proposed was just a model for an example. We just have to think outside of the box.
Personally, I would not put a one page website up, but you forget that with the power of WorPress, you can actually put content on page, add a dozen or so tags to that post and once that post is indexed into Google, the one page that you thought you had has now turned into over a dozen, all because of the tags you created when creating the page.
Just to prove my point, here is a website that Garry Suggested last year http://www.TherapyBillingSoftware.com that I bought through his recommendation. The keyword phrase is “Therapy Billing Software”. Not a lot of searches but very high CPC. I supposedly created 5 pages, but because of the power of WordPress and the use of my categories and tages, I have 25 pages indexed in Google.
Here is another micro niche of mine http://www.indoorboonsaitreeblog.com. I targeted the keyword phrase “indoor bonsai tree” and it is ranking very well for that keyword phrase in the search results in Google. I have DOZENS of websites similar to that.
I am no guru or expert, but I will tell you that I have done a lot of experimenting with the concept and it works hands down. Micro Niche Websites does work and I will debate that with anyone.
Susan,
Do some research and give it a try. Garry’s 1 page sites do come up on search engine listings.
I checked out carpet cleaning in my area and it looks wide open. Some of the carpet cleaning businesses chose domain names with a .biz. I think it will work if we choose a niche that does not have a lot of competition. Garry picked service businesses that are not sexy or exciting to write about. He picked service businesses that are demand. When I need something done like remodeling a bathroom, I Google it and start calling up the locals.
What I don’t understand is….before you have any clients, what would you have on the website? There would be no entries, so no real content. It seems like it would be hard to get the first several clients to sign up for an essentially empty site.
Hi Garry,
I read long and hard at this post for about 10 minutes. The only thing i’m having trouble wrapping my head around is the fact that Google doesn’t seem like the “local kind of guy”. By this I mean- Would searchers really search for something local? I’ve always known Google as being an informational resource for common knowledge, but finding local businesses? That seems like a long stretch for me.
Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
Garry
I received the email you sent out about this post last night UK time, and as one of your other commenters above, I only skimmed through the first few sentences because it was late. I went to bed under the impression that your blog was no more and wake up to find I’ve been “May”-fooled, lol.
The post wasn’t bad either

On the concerns for a one-page with all those links – you could expand it by offering a page for the business in addition to the homepage link. Basically you are talking a personalized niche yellow pages site.
With the widgets available today, the merchant’s page could have a locator map, an RSS feed from their own website/blog (if they have one), they could send you their weekly/monthly specials to post, etc…… of course, this would involve more hands-on work – but it would justify higher fees.
Yes.. this idea has been offered before by others – but it usually came with a “guru” price and a lot of extraneous blither. I can wrap my brain around this free offering much easier lol
The way you present ideas and lessons makes it easier to understand and implement – brings on kind of a “DUH – I can do that!” moment….
Thanks for choosing to stay in the ring …
This is a great idea! Garry, you certainly can put things in a simple and clear context. I’m sure most everyone reading knows that this is a basic plan that needs to be changed up to fit their market so with that being said I’m sure the basics can lend to credible results in the end.
Here’s my twist…
* Use wordpress. Like already mentioned, google loves wordpress the results will tend to be better.
* Work on SEO and do your research. This is critical.
* Once you get some good search results then outsource the website to someone who can sell and update the website. Give the admin access in wordpress if you want. Have a contract is necessary.
* Use social media and article marketing to help bring search engine results.
* Work on 5-10 niche websites. Outsource them to different people or all websites to 1 person if they want. Do provide some level of service to this individual. 5 websites each bringing in $1625.00 will allow you to pay a descent wage or commission to the person you outsource to. Pay someone $2500/month and keep the balance of $5625/month. Nice!
* Once outsourced they can use their address to work the google maps part of what Garry has already mentioned. If you don’t want to add your address and contact info then outsource the business once you have targetted the niche and got SEO results.
I have an idea to create a full blog using wordpress and build a network of 5-10 niche websites that will all link back to the main blog which should bring some good results.
This is my add on to this plan. Of course Im open to comments!
It was kind of hard for me to understand everything but, I think I get the main idea. I’ll have to take some of this knowledge and integrate it into my websites. Thanks.
Hi Garry,
This my first comment. I have to say that you some useful and applicable info (no fluff or fillers) but it is overwhelming for me at the present time. Thank you for giving a lot of good free information.
BTW, I like your article “Do You Feel Stupid or Inferior After Reading My Blog?”
My answer would be ignorant because i know a lot of what do/write but little of marketing. I think stupidity is when some one knows he/she does not know and does not want to learn at the same time.

Hey Gary, we have a couple of things in common. #1 we are both fans of the New Micro Niche Finder #2) We both agree Making Money Online takes as much work (if not more) than the normal 9 to 5 gig #3) We both like your Blog theme. I’d like to know where you sourced it and how I can get a copy of same.

I have a question Garry? You say to create a single page, so would a simple landing page/squeeze page work initially to first start off. What are your thoughts on the type of wordpress blog theme should be on it? I am already working on something now as a base template but if you have any suggestions that would be great.
peace and hi webmaster, great article Gary, even i don;t really understand the whole thing about niche and how to find the best way to deal with it. thanx and all the best
Brilliant idea! I never thought of doing this. I’m so excited to start this idea, thanks for sharing.
Dear Garry,
Your blog really impressed me, i am actually found your blog through sitepoint where i found one of your blog is opened for sale, i am totally agree with you that other than having skill in stealing ppl’s idea, proper research also playing a very important role.
Thanks for your great post!
Susan,
I don’t think Garrys post was meant for you to follow verbatim.
I believe he is hitting the nail on the head with this idea though. Anyone with vision can see that local internet marketing will be huge in the coming years. Businesses are used to paying thousands to tens of thousands of dollars a year for phone book advertising that is just plain old out-dated. I think this would be so easy to sell to a small business, especially a service oriented company that doesn’t have a web presence.
Spin this into a performance based payment structure and CHA-CHING!
Like shooting fish in a barrel.
thanks gary,
great article, every point is well explained!
Well, thinking out of the box is a must in IM and I’ve got to hand it to you Garry, you’ve aceing it.
keep it up man….
I printed your article and read it in our school bus during a field trip. The article is very articulate and the business idea is unique. Thanks.
I have a quick question if you don’t mind, do you a search tool to look up quickly through your informative archive. Thank you.
