An Important Update To Garry Conn dot Com

Free Web Designs

Over the last two years I have provided advice, tips and tricks towards helping others excel in the business of making money online, specifically with a blog. With everyday that goes by I get better at this business myself. Consequently, as I get better, so does my content on the blog. The level of quality in the articles I write on this blog,  I strongly feel are of great value. With that said, I truly enjoy writing them and I truly enjoy helping you find success with making money online.

In light of that, I would like to start receiving a small compensation for the time I invest into writing and publishing my articles on my blog. Starting today, I will be making a change to my blog. Many of the future articles that I publish on my blog will provide a snippet. In order to read the full article, you are invited to process a $1.00 payment via Paypal.com. Once that payment is processed, you will be automatically redirected to the full article. From there you can view it, print it or even bookmark it for later use.

I understand that there will be a small group of people who may reject this update and I have taken this into consideration. If anyone would like to receive the full version of my articles that I publish from this point on for free, simply join my free mailing list. From this point on, I am going to be focusing more on publishing my quality content directly in my mailing list. My blog will remain online but be used to channel traffic into my mailing list and to earn compensations for my articles.

Keep in mind, not every article I publish on my blog will cost $1.00 to read. Many of my future articles will be totally free to read. The articles that require the small donation will provide a snippet of the article (approximately 200 words) followed by this paragraph of text and payment button:

I very much look forward providing you with amazing and high quality information on my blog. I feel that with the level of value in the information that I publish on my blog, at times I should receive a very small amount of compensation for my work and time invested. My goal is and always will be to publish articles designed to help you excel in the business of making money online.

Hey Garry, surprised but happy to see you charging for this article. I know in the past, you’ve done quite a few that were similar- step-by-step “how to make money online with this niche, and these keywords” – you’ve even gone so far as listing domain options which really blew a lot of blogger’s minds.

So… the reason I’m glad you’re doing this- I think this will filter out certain people who are only half interested, hopefully giving MMO noobs the chance to grab these niches and those domains. I’ll admit, I was soooo tempted to take up one of your earlier mentioned niches but in the end, I thought it would be an ideal starter for someone just getting their feet wet.

Also- I have absolutely no problems donating a dollar for your advice. I’ve certainly spent more for far less information!

Thank you, Garry!

2 Jarret { 11.13.08 at 6:15 pm }

Ah, I was wondering if you were ever going to implement something like this Garry.

I completely understand and I feel that you are right in the price for the articles. Hell, after applying what you have wrote about I have made money! So even if you do have to spend money ( Oh wow, a whole $1 ) the articles and advice that you provide are stellar.

I dont know of any other MMO blog, make that any other MMO person that provides the quality content that you do every single week. You have done that for a long time, your posts revealing keywords to target along with possible domain name solutions are worth more then just a simple $1.

I would recommend your blog to ANYBODY that came across asking me for MMO advice as well as information about Google. You even know that last night I had a guy asking me a few questions and the first person I thought to ask and contact was you! Your advice has helped not only me but countless others in the quest to earning a living online and not having to work for “the man”.

I don’t think anybody will have a problem paying a small fee for MMO advice that is unique and that actually works. If they do have a problem, well…..they just aren’t interested in making money online.

Garry. You are providing a valuable service to others and as such should be compensated for your time and effort. Most of us call that work. Anyone who might be tempted to criticize Garry for this just wonder if you would criticize your employer if they failed to pay YOU.

I also admire your business courage. You are taking a considerable risk and no significant rewards are ever gained without a significant risk involved!

The advice you have given me I have always considered “invaluable” but now I have the opportunity to attach a small amount of value to your advice.

SO if I am subscribed via RSS feed then that won’t count?

I have no problem getting the newsletter, in fact, will sign up now.
I remember Court talked about a plugin he had that sent certain posts only to email subscribers. Are you using that plugin?

I think Paul said it best…

“I also admire your business courage. You are taking a considerable risk and no significant rewards are ever gained without a significant risk involved!”

And as usual, you are an original, and I know most people should not want to miss anything you write, so you will either have a huge email subscription. or a whole lot of dollars in PayPal !!

And my guess would be both !

Hey Garry,

Great Idea, but I don’t know if I’ll pay $1.00 for every article you publish, because I’ll go broke :-P

So its a good thing that you are offering the mailing list and the occasional free post.

Have you considered a subscription service or accepting donations or advertisement trading?
Just a thought.

When you get it set up you should allow Google to crawl all of your pages with the “authenticate” feature found in the webmaster tools.

Just my 2 cents. We should catch up some time :)

Good for you Garry. You provide solid content many people benefit from and getting compensated for the things you share ought to be a given.

Hi Owen! Thanks for the comment. I think you might have overlooked that when reading the article. Here is a quote:

“I understand that there will be a small group of people who may reject this update and I have taken this into consideration. If anyone would like to receive the full version of my articles that I publish from this point on for free, simply join my free mailing list.”

I now see that you just edited your comment so you understand that now. ;)

Hi Jeni!

The great news about this is the amount of information I reveal to subscribers is going to be really BEEFED big time! I’ll admit, a lot of the times when I am writing and sharing my tactics and strategies I hold back a little bit. But with the new system in place, subscribers will be able to have a direct PORT into my brain. ;)

Thanks for leaving me such a supportive comment. I really appreciate it.

10 Big Blogger { 11.13.08 at 7:22 pm }

Great move Garry,
the in depth information you share from your own experience are far more worth than 1 buck.

I can’t wait for the next posts, because i’m sure that this your new business model will you push you even more to provide very valuable content.

Hi Jarret!

Wow… what an awesome comment and that means a lot coming from you. Over the last few months, I have had so much fun with helping you. And the great thing is that you have helped me too in many situations. I am very happy to learn that you support this update and very happy to have you as a subscriber.

12 Garry Conn { 11.13.08 at 7:26 pm }

Hi Paul!

It really has been awesome getting to know you from a business as well as a personal standpoint. You totally had full respect from me when I discovered how much you care about your mom and how you put so much love and attention into building her blog. I think you are a very respectable person and it has been an absolute joy working with you and getting to know you. Your comment means a lot to me and I am very happy to know that you support this update.

13 Garry Conn { 11.13.08 at 7:29 pm }

Hi Allyn!

Yes, you need to subscribe to my mailing list in order to start receiving my FULL ARTICLES. Keep in mind, that not every article I write on GCDC will be premium content. Many of my future articles will be available to read in FULL directly on my blog. It is just those articles where I really reveal the higher grade content that I wish to be compensated for from non-subscribers and to deliver for free to my devoted readers who ARE subscribers.

I just received notification that you joined and I look forward to having you as a long term mailing list subscriber. ;)

14 Garry Conn { 11.13.08 at 7:33 pm }

Hi David!

Thanks for taking the time to leave me a supportive comment. It means a lot coming from you! Paul as well as yourself are correct. Sometimes success can’t come without taking a risk. In the case with GCDC, this risk is needed. Because I (as the writer) need to feel rewarded. Most of the time I do feel rewarded and I absolutely love success stories such as Jarret Cade’s. He constantly stays in communications with me and updates me with his progress in development. Aside from that, I really and truly need to be compensated for my work. My wife, my four kids as well as myself greatly need these compensations. Thanks again for your supportive words.

15 Garry Conn { 11.13.08 at 7:35 pm }

Hi Aaron!

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave me the supportive comment. I am glad to hear that you feel the way you do. I think with this update will bring a lot of success for everyone.

16 Garry Conn { 11.13.08 at 7:37 pm }

You are so very right about that. I am totally motivated to spill the beans now! ;)

Thank you Alex for taking the time to leave me your comment with encouraging words. That means a lot! ;)

17 Kent F { 11.13.08 at 7:48 pm }

Feel free to charge a penny or so for my timely questions. LOL – just kidding – it actually makes quite a bit of sense. I charge $150/hour for my expertise in a court of law – no difference really, particularly, since you will barter it for being on a mailing list.

22 Mike Huang { 11.13.08 at 9:06 pm }

Hmmm, this is a very unique thing you’re doing, Garry. I always know that your articles are great, but wouldn’t you think that people would just subscribe to your mailing list instead of paying $1? I guess it’s a win/win situation, but you may lose traffic because of this.

-Mike

23 Garry Conn { 11.13.08 at 9:13 pm }

yes! That is precisely the point. I want people to subscribe to my mailing list. I would much rather people join the list than pay me the dollar! ;)

You asked if I will I lose traffic? I seriously doubt that. For over a year my blog has received over 80% of its traffic from Google. A very low 20% of the traffic are repeat visitors such as yourself. My blog will continue to receive tons of traffic and will continue to increase traffic. The only difference now, is that I am using a large percent of my traffic to grow my mailing list and increase the likelihood of receiving small compensations for my writing.

The only way I would lose traffic is if I got banned in Google, and by the time that would happen I would have already built up my mailing list to a level where I wouldn’t need any 3rd party company to supply me with traffic.

You have to understand that what I am doing is developing a network within my mailing list. Google, my blog and other sources will feed traffic to it and promote it.

Thanks for taking the time to leave me a comment and I appreciate and value your feedback. ;)

24 Mr Javo { 11.13.08 at 9:27 pm }

Nice way to make money Garry, but I don’t know, you will be forcing the people to make something that they don’t necessarily want to do, subscribe to your newsletter….

However, good luck with that, hope it works!

26 Garry Conn { 11.13.08 at 9:31 pm }

Mr. Javo,

All I can say to that is that as I writer, I need to be rewarded for my work. I personally don’t think I am asking too much. If people want to read People Magazine, they subscribe. In fact, if people want to read People Magazine, they PAY to subscribe.

If people want to read what I write, they need to subscribe. The great thing about my subscription is that it is totally FREE.

For those who are non-subscribers, they too can have receive a copy of my writing for a very fair and reasonable price of $1 dollar. And, at any given time, if they want to subscribe to get my future articles (for free) they can subscribe. ;)

I do value your opinions and appreciate you taking the time to stop by and leave me a comment.

Garry

Personally I think It isn’t a bad idea. It’s a matter of perception. People generally think that with subscription comes something of value or something prestige.

That said, I do notice that most of the people who comment on your article are you regulars who have probably subscribed to your mailing list. But for those first-time visitors who knows little about Garry, that may be a turn-off if you ask me.

Inspired …… I am suitably impressed Garry!

It is a brilliant idea. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain …. and your readers (whichever route they take) can still receive full posted advice … paid/unpaid …. their choice.

Nice one Garry! :mrgreen:

31 Jer { 11.14.08 at 3:32 am }

Thanks Garry, I need all the help I can get!

32 Donace { 11.14.08 at 5:09 am }

As other have mentioned it is a unique and ‘out of the box’ idea, though which I feel will work brilliantly as some of the content you churn out is brilliant!

Hell if 1 out of 20 is like some of the niche posts you do i’d pay $20 for that post alone as the income potential for those niches easily will out weigh the cost. (niches can easily make 30$ a month in adsense alone).

I’m already part of your mailing list since the ‘cowpetition’ and have enjoyed all the content and tips that come though it plus the long conversations on IM about ‘IM’!

Stocking up my paypal account with dollar bills now! hope to read some brilliant stuff (as always)!

33 Fred @ Online Banks Blog { 11.14.08 at 7:11 am }

I these premium articles are anything like your first, about the moving company blog, this content is well worth $1.00. You are providing great advice for anyone trying to make money online. Thank you!!

So garry conn goes paid? I don’t like it! HAHA I like your posts honestly and I can’t afford to pay $1 everytime you got new post. So maybe I’ll just stick with your mailing list.

Check out Hussein’s last blog post..WordPress Theme Weekly: Digital Statement

36 Coach Chris { 11.14.08 at 9:51 am }

First, Garry, I think your premium information is certainly worth a dollar. As someone that already subscribed, I have it easy.

The problem you may have is when a new person comes and are presented with either a $1 payment or having to subscribe, the extra step may turn them off. Although, if those people knew you, they would jump at either. The problem may become that they don’t know you and the quality of your stuff.

For those people, you may consider adding a link to a series of your favorite previous posts and then they can find out how great your stuff is.

Maybe also rework your subscription section to advertise the fact that subscribers get free premium content. Naturally, if this doesn’t have the result you are looking for it can be reversed so way to go with “out-the-box” thinking and the courage to try something new.

cd :O)

37 Dennis Edell { 11.14.08 at 10:43 am }

Well, doesn’t this give a whole new meaning to “intellectual property”. ;)

Seriously I love the idea, it’s like an elite club; I’m really glad I already signed on to your mailing list. :)

It’s funny how things come around and start to make sense…a while ago now I read of a plugin that allowed users to read a certain preset amount of FULL posts, before a popup that read, “if you wish to continue reading full posts, please subscribe”; or something like that.

At the time I thought, WTF?!!?! Are these folks completely insane?? Wow what a way to completely destroy your readership. (And yes, I do believe I said all that outloud, LOL.)

Now however, hmm…..

Great idea, Garry. I remember you posted a while back that you wanted some crazy number of subscribers to your mailing list. I thought at the time that it was unlikely to happen.

However, this idea is brilliant. You have provided the incentive for visitors to subscribe.

Best of luck to you, Sir.

I have to say it has been an interesting journey working with you for the last year and a half. We do not always agree, and we do a lot of things different, and yet the end results always amaze me, from both sides.

With all that said, as I have told you before, sometimes you freak me out a little with things you do, and I know even you have been surprised before by the excellent results you have achieved when you do things that most people would not dare do.

Quick question — why would anybody pay $1 to read your posts if you are supposed to be rich already? I mean, somebody who has made tons of money online wouldn’t have to charge their readers pocket change for their tips, would they?

even worse — I’ve had a quick look over some of your posts and I don’t see anything worth paying $1 for.

42 Garry Conn { 12.01.08 at 6:55 pm }

Hi Kris,

So when you are at a restaurant, do you only tip the waitress if she looks poor and stricken by poverty? Are you discriminating against me because I have money? Are you also a racist?
