An Inspiring Way To Look At Adsense Stats
Make no mistake, it takes traffic to make money with Google Adsense. However, you should worry less about the amount of incoming traffic you have coming into your blogs and worry more about how much of that traffic you convert into clicks. I can’t say that placing focus on building traffic isn’t important, but I can say that placing focus on totally utilizing the traffic that you do get is important. Take what you have and work with what you got, and that my friends is the key to running a successful blog monetized with Google Adsense.

I definitely need to work on something, I only get below 5%…would love an email from ya.
HomeMom3,
Your blog needs a medium rectangle or the medium square in your post pages. Directly below the title and positioned to the left so that the text will wrap around it on the right. This will indeed help you increase your CTR an additional 5%. We talked about this once before but some how other things came up.
What I would do is post a New Topic in The Bloggers Message Board. I know that someone will be able to help you with this. I can too, but I have a plate full of things going on. If you make the post, someone will be able to help, or in a few days I will be able to do.
I would strongly make an effort towards getting this done as it could very well double the money your blog makes.
Go here: http://bloggersmessageboard.com/index.php?board=8.0
and create the topic…
If anyone else who reads this comment and has some free time to help Eliza, please pitch in… she has been working on this for over a month now.
Thanks Garry headed there now.
I do remember chatting about it but never could figure it out with my blog format.
Garry –
You said “you don’t want to be over 10%” … is that correct or did you misspeak? Why would you not want to be over 10%? Sending too much traffic away?

Gary,
If you have time, I would appreciate your opinion of my set up on http://www.notjohnchow.com.
I am having some difficulty getting the site to look right in firefox too.
I agree with you suggestion to focus on conversions and not just exposure.
Thanks,
Not John
man, what you say is so true. Look at what I get. Last month I made 23$ for 3400 views with a adsense CTR of about 5%. That comes to only about 7 dollars per 1000 views.
Compare this to John Chow. In November he earned 80$ for every 1000 page views! Even if I were to earn half John’s ecpm I should have made 140 dollars from that number of page views.
homemom3,
Check out this post for instruction on how to wrap adsense within a blogspot post.

Wow, some really good comments here! Thanks!
Planet Apex,
Thank you so much for chipping in and helping Eliza!
Not John Chow,
Dude… It could be one out of a million things wrong. Looks like you might be missing a closing < / div > tag. Either that or you might have one or two extra open. You might want to start over from scratch… just being honest. Sorry man…
Chris,
Yes, you did hear me correctly. I don’t want to be higher than 10% because I feel like numbers being higher than 10% might set off a few red flags at the Google Dept. Believe me, I want to get clicks but, I want to make sure I am maintaining a legitimate operation. I doubt that there are any rules that say you can’t go over 10%, but that is just my standard and also that seems to be right around where eCPM hits a sweet spot.
I just wanted to come back and thank Garry and PlanetApex for all your help.
A 10% Click Through rate would be nice on any of my blogs
I see very little clicks unfortunately if 10% converted I would be a happy camper
Eliza,
We are half way there, we just need to now get the text to wrap around the content, then I would say things should be gold for you.
Owen,
If I am not mistaken, didn’t you just start using Adsense on your blog less then two weeks ago? If so, then you need to run with what you have and then make a note of the performance and then make a change and allow that change to run for about two weeks and see if there is better performance. If so, then make another change and repeat the process again… and note performance changes either increase/ drop… and just keep tweaking things until you find a campaign/position that works best for your blog and readers.
Cheers Garry,
Yes, I did just recently start using ad sense but I did not use much thought in placing them, just where I thought they would look best. I’ll run them for a while and then switch them up. On my other blog I’ve been running ad sense for a little longer and see even worse results then my main one.
Some great info presented here. I currently use adsense on most of the internal pages of my modeling site, but the CTR is just under 3%…. lol. Any idea on how I can improve?
