Are You Inspired To Make Money Online?

Are you inspired to make money online? What is your inspiration? What puts fuel into your burner, what drives and motivates you? Asking these questions brings up a guy name Gary Vaynerchuk. I can’t remember when the first time I stumbled onto Gary Vaynerchuk; however, I can tell you the first time I watched one of his wine video shows, my jaw dropped. The guy has mad skills and he has energy like you would never believe. I try to make my rounds to his various sites at least once a week. That might not sound like a lot, but for me… it is. If anyone can capture my attention to the degree where I physically follow their work at a minimum of once a week, they’re doing something right.

Here is a video that I watched of Gary Vaynerchuk, I actually found it on Nate Moller’s blog, I don’t really know Nate too well, I just found his blog today on BloggingQuestions.com. Nate seems to provide some great material on his blog, such as the posted the video of Gary Vaynerchuk, so you might consider subscribing to Nate’s blog as well. The reason why I want to share this video of Gary Vaynerchuk is because it inspired me to step my business up a notch.

It seems like it is the norm for people to expect that making money online is something that should come easy. My perception of people (and in many ways including myself) is that making money online is looked at as an escape from the typical 9 to 5 job. While indeed, if you can pull it off and create a successful online business, you are no longer working for The Man; however, you are working for yourself. And in my experience, I work ten times harder for myself than I did for any company.

I guess what I am telling you is this: While you are struggling to make money online, there is money totally in front of your face. On the Internet, money does grow on trees. However, it is your job to build the ladder used to climb up the tree to pick the money off. Secondly, it is your job to find the trees that grow the money. If you step back for a minute and apply basic business marketing tactics, you’ll see how much money you are missing.

When I was a kid (ten years old), just like everyone else, I had a lemonade stand. I sold lemonade for $0.05 a glass. It was warm and I am sure it tasted like shit. The first day when I set up my stand, I didn’t make any money. The reason was simple. I had the stand set up at the bottom of my driveway. (No traffic) The next day, I decided to move my lemonade stand up to the entrance of my neighborhood where there was much more traffic. On day two I made a lot of money because I recognized what was needed in order to make money.

I needed traffic. I needed exposure. I needed for people to see that I was selling lemonade. Now, looking back on things today, I know what I did was smart. I can study that decision I made as a child. However, twenty years ago when I was ten years old, I had no idea about the concept of business strategy or even marketing for that matter. I was ten years old and on instinct, I knew that hell… I needed to have my lemonade stand somewhere where there was a lot of passing cars.

What does this all mean for you? Well, in many ways, I am telling you that you need to act and follow your instincts just like a child. A child has no fear. A child does things that most all adults would be too bashful to do. A child acts without fear of consequence or rejection. In many ways, a child can make an excellent person in sales. Why? Because a child’s mind hasn’t had enough time to be subjected to adulthood where commonly most all adults have more reasons why THEY CAN’T do something rather than reasons why THEY CAN!

If a child wants to get a cookie out of the cookie jar against the rules placed by mom and dad, guess what? That child will eventually get that cookie. You as an adult want to make money online with your blog. How bad do you want this? I am not telling you to break any rules. But what I am telling you is that you need to have more childlike aggression and passion towards completing your objective.

Anyway, my intention wasn’t to write a novel here but more to just share this video with you. I think that you’ll enjoy watching it and I also think that if you have never heard of Gary Vaynerchuk that you’ll appreciate me telling you about him. I think you can learn a lot from Gary and I think at a minimum he may inspire you or at least light a fire under your feet to get you going. Enjoy!

I agree, there’s a misconception that making money online is easy, while it might be true on some cases, most of the times you got to work hard, maybe twice as hard as you’d do offline.

There are thousands of bad make money online blogs, all telling us it’s easy to make money online, but neglecting to tell us how much hard work we need to put in.

I don’t really feel inspired to make money online - I’m motivated by building content on subjects I love and then trying to monetize it. Is this the wrong approach?

John,

This will be a little challenging to answer, but I am going to do my best here and just say what comes to mind.

You said that you are motivated by building content on subjects you enjoy. That statement in itself is not the wrong approach assuming that action is what gives you the personal reward or feeling of accomplishment.

If the possibility of making money online is what motivates you and you are failing to achieve that, then perhaps you should consider the actions you are taking towards attempting to achieve this goal.

Folks who want to make money online and are fueled with motivation to do so, often fail because they don’t take time to sit back in their chair and observe the big picture that is going on.

Sorry to bring children up again, but I have four kids and I marvel at how they react to things and commonly compare their reactions against how adults react. Sometimes the reactions are similar other times they are not.

When children play board games they can get emotional. When a child is losing at a board game, sometimes they can get angry and experience the feeling of failure. Commonly they will just quit the game. And that is normal. But as a parent, we explain to children the importance of not quitting.

As adults, especially bloggers who want to make money online, many people experience failure. Commonly they will just quit the game when they are losing. This is NOT normal. Adults shouldn’t quit. Adults have the ability to learn from their mistakes and study cause and effect and discover what went wrong.

If a blogger wants to make money online, they must first decide how they want to do it. If they want to make money online using Google AdSense, Great! From there, they need to understand the elements needed in the recipe in order to be successful with making money online using Google AdSense.

You need to have a blog, the blog needs to be about a certain topic, that topic needs to be something that attracts people who don’t know about AdSense, that topic also needs to pay good money per click.

You need to have traffic. You need to have good content, and content that is written with rich, researched and targeted keywords that gain excellent placement into the search engines in order to score this “Click Happy” traffic.

If you consider the needed elements in a successful niche blog monetized with Google AdSense compared to other things such as the inner workings of an internal combustion engine, you’ll see that it is actually pretty damn simple to make money online using AdSense.

If a person doesn’t understand or know how to gain the elements needed for their blog to be successful, they should invest time into learning. That in itself is the chief problem I see with bloggers who want to make money online. They fail, because they just EXPECT it to happen automatically. Many bloggers do NOT invest the time into learning HTML and basic SEO, many bloggers don’t invest the time into learning how Google works. I don’t understand why?

Anyway, once again, I am just rambling on. And ironically, I am probably far off the point you were seeking. With that said, I think anyone can make money online if they put their mind to it. Making money online isn’t always just about AdSense either. There are hundreds of ways to make money online.

Pepperjam is one thing that comes to mind. They have hundreds of advertisers who are willing to pay people huge percentages of sales to people who decide to help promote their business. Choose ONE advertiser, just one, and act as if you were personally employed by this company.

Build a blog, know your products and services, speak highly of your products and services. Use your blog to create reasons why people NEED your products and services. If you play your cards correctly, it is a very good possibility that your blog could very well get more traffic than the official web site of the company you are promoting.

Money motivates me. Feeding my kids motivates me. Feeling in control and not dependant upon others motivates me. Winning and being #1 at anything and everything I do motivates me. I can’t stand second place! Greed motivates me. Power motives me. Education, Passion, Knowledge, Winning…

All those elements and everything above are in my head and mashed up into one super big climax that pumps high octane fuel into my body and gives me the burst fire energy, stamina, and drive towards achieving the highest level of success doing something that not very many people do.

If you or anyone else has at least 50% of the type of fuel that I have burning, you’ll make quite a bit of money and it won’t take long for it to happen either.

Hi Garry, my original motivation was to build something in my specific areas of interest, something I enjoy. However, both areas (corewar and caving) are pretty small niches.

When my firm started laying people off 12 months ago, I began experimenting with other areas and I admit I’ve started several projects then quit them. My most successful brings in about $50 a month.

I have a second motivation which is at odds with the first, I want to build something online to provide a financial safety-net. I guess I’ll have to prioritize one or the other, otherwise I’ll fail at both!

I’m Very inspired to make money takes tons of discipline to sit in front of a 20inch screen then make some profit off that pc or laptop. Motivation can either be from friends or family best kind is the inner motivation.

First off, thanks for the links! It’s always nice to get a Google Alert with a new link on a quality blog like yours.

Second, making money online is all about PASSION! Not passion for money, but passion for doing what you love to do and seeing the money come as you work the systems that are already in place. I feel starting an online business is more than just a JOB that you have to bust your butt at and dread every day. Starting an online business is more like creating a new lifestyle - what you do online becomes part of who you are.

As I’ve interviewed successful bloggers in different niches, I’ve found they all have one thing in common - they LOVE what they blog about. I asked them why passion is key to success in an online business and this is what Shoemoney said in an interview at Blog World 2008:

…it was when I wasn’t trying to make money that it really happened…eventually the little thing that you never expected to make money that does…it’s something you’re passion about, something you want to do, something you believe in…you’ll meet all your goals with your hobby or passion and there’s a good chance you’ll make money at it as well…Hard work + Time + Passion + Good Content = Recipe for Success!

Best of luck in making money online! One of my favorite quotes is by Abraham Lincoln:

That some achieve great success, is proof to all that others can achieve it as well.

This is a very motivational post. Gary Vaynerchuk has tapped into a niche area, and now he’s reaping the benefits of it. As you noted, he does have the knowledge and energy that keeps people wanting to return to watch his videos. To be able to snag all of the cash up for grabs in the online space, you have to be willing to think outside the box for a method of gaining the most exposure. You can’t be afraid to take risks or try something new. Great post, Garry!

Your telling that adults need childlike aggression and passion towards achieving their objective, well what do you say about kids who are in the online money making game like me? Do you think they have an edge over the others?

I think one of the wisest ways of making money online is by modeling the people who are already successful at creating digital products that their market is hungry for.
passion is nice, but it doesn’t pay the bills or make sales unless the MARKET is passionate about it as well.
There are professionals out there who know a whole lot more than I do like Dan Kennedy or anyone who he interviewed in his free interview series.
These entrepreneurs use giveaways, contests and motivating copy to bring in happy, customers.
I have an article on my site about how they are giving away the seminar series and also a contest to be awarded the entire Dan Kennedy 5000$ marketing business training library.
