Blog Tips For The Busy Blogger
Ok. I understand that 99 out of 100 bloggers are not like me. I am the 1 out of 100 who happens to be in a position where I can do this full time. This is my job, this is what I do for a living. Understanding that most bloggers don’t have the amount of time I have, here is a road map to success for bloggers who still have normal full time day jobs.
Part One: The Initial Start Up
- Day One: Choose A Niche Market: Before you start a blog, sit down with a friend, a spouse, etc. And discuss what topics harbor the most money in relation to your ability to quickly broadcast information and great content. What topic can you successfully and easily blog about quickly that also channels the most money? My niche market is aircraft. Airplanes are expensive and cost a lot of money. Some airplanes cost over 100 million dollars. I enjoy using Google Adsense and when someone clicks on an airplane related Adsense ad, the amount of money per click logically is going to pay more than if a beanie baby ad was clicked. Estimated Time: 3 Hours.
- Day Two: Research Logical Keywords: When you have chosen your niche market, visit www.Google.com and use their magical search bar. Ask yourself, “If I was looking for the blog I own, what would I type to find it?” In my case, Boeing Jet Sales, aircraft deals, transport jet sales, Piper Cherokee sales, etc. Make a list of the keywords that you want people to search for in order to find your blog(s). Estimated Time: 2 Hours.
- Day Three: Domain Name Selection: Choosing a domain name to represent you and your blog is VERY IMPORTANT. Not only for name recognition and branding but also for aiding you in your mission for pulling up on the search results page for your logical keywords. Domain name selection is huge. Here are some sub points that will help you along the way: Estimated Time: 2 Hours.
- Choose a domain name that matches your target keywords. In my case, I want to provide great aircraft deals to people who want to buy airplanes. Consequently, the domain name AircraftDeals.net was available. This is an almost perfect scenario. Perfect would have been the acquisition of the .Com extension. However, search engines don’t complain, so neither do I.
- Don’t sacrifice a great name because the .Com extension isn’t available.
- Hyphens are ok! In fact, search engines love them. If the domain name you want is only available with a hyphen separating the words, in many ways this is better than the domain name without the hyphen separation.
- Day Four: Get Web Hosting: Finding a place to host your site is easy and cheap. I would recommend using WordPress so find a host that offers cPanel hosting that comes with Fantastico. Fantastico is a package that allows you to quickly and easily install WordPress with a click of a button. Web hosting is cheap and should cost you about $5 dollars per month for a basic level shared hosting account. Which that is all you need at the moment.

Yes, indeed, I’d be interested in such a series. But can we forego the holding hand part please?
I can grab you by the back of the head and then yank you down the path of success. Would that be better? lol

Yes, please continue with this series.
I think your articles are so cool. Even now, I still learn so much from you. I’d be lost without the articles. LOL
Thanks again, Garry.
You are welcome. If the demand exists for this potential future series… I will run back to back articles on this whole topic from start to finish. It will take me a few weeks to walk everyone from start to finish. However, as readers follow the series of articles they can also progress with their development of their blog in real time as my articles are released. I need to see that there is a demand for these articles though. I will be pouring out my guts into the series and putting forth a lot of blood, sweat and tears, so I want to make sure that there is a wide demand for this first. What I need to see are blog reactions, comments of interest and supportive reader feedback. If this is something my fans and readers want to see then I will provide it.
