Blogging About Making Money Doesn’t Make Money

Blogging about making money online doesn’t make money… Well, for me it doesn’t. I totally understand that I have hundreds of readers who need help and want to learn how to make money online. I totally feel for you and want to continue helping.

If you are a regular reader, you may have noticed a lot of changes going on with my blog over the span of a few weeks. If you are a new readers, then you obviously see my site as you see it today.

I am slowly making changes to my blog to allow for me to better monetize the site effectively while balances these changes for my regular readers. I hope to not offend anyone but on the same token you need to take a moment to see where I am coming from.

Making money online is my business, this is my job, this is what I do for a living. While I invest a lot of time into helping other bloggers learn this business, all my hard work here on GCDC is done without compensation. With 2008 just around the corner, I can not deny or turn my head away from the money that can be made from this blog.

This blog does very well in the search engines and I know in the past I said that I would like to focus less on scoring traffic from search engines and focus more on social networking and scoring traffic directly through niche blogging.

The program with that is very simple: It’s not working. I have toyed around with a lot using this blog and one thing that keeps poking out is that fact that I am very skilled with having the ability to score search engine traffic. This is the exact thing I try to teach others. With that being said, I really need to push forward and stick to my guns with these new changes on my blog. It will allow me to accept a form of compensation that will in return allow me to continue to invest time into helping my readers.

My blog is monetized with Google Adsense and I have invested a lot of time and thought into the ad positioning and structure of the blog. For my regular readers who may be bothered by these ads, I would like to invite you to subscribe to my feed and view my site in RSS.

I am going to be beefing up my volume quite a bit and expect to see far way less comments. Also I won’t be surprised to see my FeedBurner subscription numbers drop. However, so far even with the changes I have made so far, they continue to climb.

The purpose of this post is to more allow my regular readers to be aware of the changes that are taking place. Long story short… I need to make money in order to support myself and my family. formally everything I have done on GCDC has been totally volunteer.

You can trust in my content that I won’t mislead you into purchasing bull shit e-books. You can trust in my content that I will not suggest into purchasing junky affiliate based products.

My content is going to be beefed up quite a bit. I am going to do more “blurb” style blogging that allows me to generate more pages that will get indexed in the major search engines which in return will allow me to pick up more and more traffic. So, hold on to the bar… and lets go for the ride!

I invite any comments and questions.

Cary,

I am in your boat completely—Google is on my side, but when it comes to those adsense clicks, I am a cellar-dweller. One of the joys of all this is the experimentation–I’ve tried many tactics to score better Google traffic to zombieproject.com, get more attention to the site, and I think I’m evolving in an organic way, but getting those clicks…that’s what it’s all about. I’m still fumbling with Adsense and using affiliate programs without going total overkill. Striking the balance is the key- think I’m still looking for it.

Good luck and keep up the great work, I look forward to watching the site evolve. You’re a recent addition to my Del.icio.us list :-)
