Buy A Book About Blogging
If you’re wanting to learn more about blogging, who said that buying a book is a bad thing? Two of my kids are active in sports and during their practices I usually drop them off and lounge at my local bookstore. It is what I call my hour of iced coffee, peace and harmony.
In the past six months, I have actually purchased and read quite a few books that have improved my blogging and design skills quite bit. If you’re really serious about improving your skills with blogging and want to learn more and find special blog tips and tricks, I would strongly recommend purchasing a book.
Now don’t go rushing to the book store and purchase everything on the shelf. When searching through different books on the shelves, you’re going to experience the compelling desire to purchase multiple books. Don’t do that. There is no need for that. For one, you really shouldn’t read two different books at the same time. It’s ok to do with other books, but I wouldn’t advice it when you’re trying to learn more about blogging.
Take the handful of books that interest you the most and choose just one and put the others back. Keep in mind, the other books aren’t going to go away anytime soon. Buy choosing just one book you inadvertently allow yourself to remain committed towards achieving the goal of becoming a better blogger.
When you’re looking on the bookshelves for some books, a very good GOLDEN TIP would be to immediately check the publish date. You definitely do not want to purchase an old book about blogging. Purchase the newest books possible. Ideally, look for books published in 2008 and consider ones published in 2007. Not to worry there are plenty of choices.
If you would like for me to write a second post with some book recommendations, drop me a comment and let me know. Or, if you have read any books recently that have help you enhance your blogging experience, let us know!

Great post Garry
I just love bookshops. A bookshop with a coffee bar is probably in my top 10 list of places to visit and things to do. I’m a blogging newbie so a recommendation would be great.
Keep up the good work.
Dave
Hi Dave,
I enjoyed chatting with you on my web based chat. Blogging is a ton of fun. I wish you well with getting your new blog setup. Drop me a line anytime if you need help.
I don’t read blogging books very often but I have recently read ‘Getting noticed on google in easy steps’ by ben norman – a nice easy read that I actually understand without going into sneaky underhand tricks. Worthwhile and so is his site.
I think this is a great post. This is actually my first time on your blog and you have me hooked like a fish ~ LOL. I have a little one myself and when I get mommy time I head over to the nearest Barnes and Noble and stick my nose in blogging books, web based books, etc. It really can help you learn and better understand thing. I would be very interested in a few that you have read and have helped you and blogging. I recently read “blogging with moxie” and loved it. Cool and fresh blogging guide, it would be great for a newbie blogger! Stop by my blog sometime Gary ; ) I will be back as well…
The reason I do not buy any books that are related to blogging or SEO is for one of the very reasons you mentioned in your article. I find that very often the information becomes dated within a few months, hence you could be looking at advice or information that just doesn’t hold true in the present day. The best ‘bookshop’ you could ever have for advice and info is right on your PC- google.
