Digging Up Donkey Kong
I was doing my nightly ritual of digging the Google index to see which pages in my blog pull up for certain keywords and I ran across an old page I did about a year and a half ago. Its a very cheesy made that has Google Adsense being displayed. I did put a lot of time and creativity into the page. But I don’t think it has too much hope. I have learned a lot since I created this page. I wouldn’t say that this page is the flag ship that put me to the level of where I am at today. But, I think it did open a lot of doors on allowing me to expand on my creativity.
At the time, I was experimenting with Google Adsense and trying to blend ads with content. But on the same token I wanted to provide a use for the page. The result was a page the took sectional pieces of an old Donkey Kong arcade standing cabinet, removing the screen and inserts a flash version of the classic Donkey Kong arcade game.
On this page you can actually play Donkey Kong online. However, the page never really hit off very well, because at the time of creating the page, I didn’t know what I know today. I just might go back in here and doctor it up a little bit and run another test. I would almost bet if I were to display live RSS feeds on this page, it could very well pick up better in the search engines… I just might do that. Right now as it stands, this page pull up on the second results page in Google when you search for “Play Donkey Kong Online“. Maybe with a little update, I might be able to get that page to appear in the top results.
At any rate, I wanted to share one of my earlier creations with you. Check it out, even though its old school, I think its still pretty cool. Click the image below to play Donkey Kong:
