Do you use profanity on your blog?
I try not to cuss on my blog. Every once in awhile a few minor curse words slip out, but overall I run a G-Rated blog. From time to time, it might be PG-13; however, compared to some other blogs that I read, this blog typically caters to virgin ears.
Do you cuss and swear and use filthy words on your blog? There is a famous WordPress Plugin called “Buy Me A Beer” perhaps there is a WordPress developer lurking around GCDC who could can make a WordPress Swear Jar Plugin?
So seriously, let me have it… do you use profanity on your blog? And yes… I would really love it if someone made a WordPress Swear Jar Plugin. There are some bloggers who want to make money online really really bad but haven’t had much luck in doing so. The solution is simple, get us a F*&#ing swear jar so we can bitch and complain about being so broke, we suddenly get rich. LOL!!!

I try not to on homemom3, but I may have slipped once or twice. But since that is my “family” blog it won’t happen much. I think one should really be carefully on what type of blog they do cuss on, especially with their readers. I know what ya mean about the tip jar though, we actually had a cuss cup when we first got married. It made lots of money, but the longer we were in the military the shorter time period we saw the cup.
On video, you (Garry) and I have had to retake a few of our videos together because it probably sounded more like 2 ranting sailors after a year at sea, lol.
But, how in the world does anyone “slip” and curse while writing?
NOPE! NOPE! NOPE! I was raised to believe that only people who are unable to verbalize effectively had to resort to curse words, because they didn’t have the intelligence to coherently express themselves otherwise.
The majority of truly vile expressions on the internet have been studied and discovered to be posted by young men, from teenaged years to about 29. Those studies report a desire to shock, rather than inform, or a desire to lash out due to an underlying rage and feelings of powerlessness.
As David says, “how in the world does anyone “slip†and curse while writing?” I believe any profanity utilized in the written word is done with intent. Whether that intent is to offend, inform, as a release valve, or to create emphasis, only the reader is the final judge.
Having said that, I must report that I have since grown up and discovered the stress relief and sheer ‘naughtiness’ of profanity. But I also do not believe that my blogs about k-12 education or animal rescue are the appropriate places to “express myself so colorfully”. So I’m stuck having to use proper grammatical English on my blogs, even when I’m talking about a F%@ker like Michael Vick, or child molesters.
Ha… Great Idea Garry, I know one blogger who would lose a fortune paying into the jar but I won’t mention Vic by name – oops.
LOL Grizz that is exactly who came to mind the instant I started reading this post. Vic would go broke if he had to put money in a swear jar!
Good idea Garry, I like it.
I don’t think I ever have. I may swear out loud as I write… but it never makes it into the blog.
My view on the subject is that it ads nothing of value and likely will turn some away from your blog.

Nope. You’ll never find a swear word on any of my blogs. And I refuse to return to sites that use them excessively. (As long as I remember which site it is). It’s because the more I read and hear the words the more likely they are to pop in my head when I am angry.
Just trying to protect what goes in to my brain.
