Does your blog have great search engine visibility?

Have you often wondered why your blog doesn’t get the visibility in the search engines that other blogs might get? Perhaps maybe the opposite is wondered too? Maybe your blog does get tons of traffic from search engines and you’re skeptical to make changes in fear that you’ll lose this wonderful gift. No matter which situation you’re in, 9 out 10 times, you don’t know why your blog DOES or DOES NOT rank well in the search engines. Most people either feel lucky or they don’t.

I was in the same boat too… many sites were hit or miss and still are! However, a few weeks ago, I had set out to change that. I wanted answered and I wanted to know more about making blogs that sit well with the major search engines.

Long story short… I bought a book. I actually enjoy reading a lot; regretfully, I don’t invest more time into reading and I should. Reading is a great way to learn things. With search engines, I wanted to know more about building blogs and how I can build one that does well in the search engines. Honestly, coming into this, I already knew quite a bit of stuff, but it was sure good to have this throw back at me. Surprisingly enough, there was quite a bit of stuff that I didn’t know too! It is awesome to learn a new skill.

I am not a very patient person, as most of you all know… so, as much as I say that I enjoy reading, sometimes I am picky and it can be very hard for me to really and truly get into a book. With that being said, if you ever come across a post of mine where I recommend that you buy a book, you can count on it being a super good one. Again, for Garry Conn to enjoy reading a book, it says a lot about the book and the author who wrote it. It is very hard to capture my attention in a book. If you’ve done that, then you truly are a great writer and have something really awesome to share!

sharithurowThe book that I want to recommend to you is titled, Search Engine Visibility by Shari Thurow. Rather than point you to an Amazon page or anything like that, I’ll just point you to her website where you can make your own decision on where to buy it.

This book is awesome and I am almost done reading it. In this book, I learned A LOT about how to properly design websites that are friendly for people, which if properly done, goes hand in hand with being friendly for search engines.

I bought the book a few weeks ago at my local book store while waiting for my son to finish a basketball practice. Instantly it was a book I become very interested in. From cover to cover this book is packed full of easy to read and follow examples of how you can build a better blog, or in the book example, web site… but what’s the difference? LOL

Anyway, I figured I would share this knowledge with you as it has helped me a lot in my ventures on search engine marketing, which by the way, go hand in hand with having a search engine friendly (optimized) blog or web site.

Hey there, I thought you already knew pretty much everything about SEO. If this book taught you something then in my eyes it must be amazing. Will I buy it?……. Not sure yet, but if I do i’ll let you know.

“I thought you already knew pretty much everything about SEO”

Anyone that tells you that is lying. Granted I know a lot about SEO, but far far far from everything there is to know.

I’ll give it a look next time I’m over at the bookstore if they have it. Chances are they wont.

Owen,

What kind of bookstore you going to bud? LOL!!!

Joking… any average book store should have it. I got mine at Barnes & Nobel. If you’re in no hurry, you might want to buy it online somewhere and save $20 bucks. I believe Mark Sierra purchased a copy last week when I told him about it, he may jump on here and tell you what store he got it at.

The book is on my list when I read in the bookstore everytime I’m waiting for my partner.
