Easter Egg Server Hunt

Doesn’t it just suck to get so much traffic it crashes your server? I always joked about that by saying one day I’d like to get so much traffic it would crash my server. Well during the holidays that typically happens for me. And as much fun as it seems to have getting a lot of traffic over the holidays, it kind of sucks to have downtime.

The problem with my business is the fact that I make a huge chunk of change during the holidays. Now, don’t get me wrong, I make money everyday; but holidays are very special for the fact that I know pretty much in advanced what people are going to be searching for.

Scoring traffic during the holidays is easy. It’s outside from the holidays is when I need a little help from my friend, Mr. Micro Niche Finder. (Hehe) Anyway, my whole server went into overload mode for about three hours and based off how much I have been making since yesterday up to Saturday afternoon, I lose $40 to $50 per hour in income that could be generated.

Luckily I am back up and running now, but I am sure that you can tell, the server is very slow. Over Christmas, I had the same issues. In fact, over Christmas, I had to shut a few sites down just to keep the server alive. With Easter, it hasn’t been quite that busy yet, but I very well many have to shut a site down or two just to keep things up and running. We’ll see.

Is anyone blogging about Easter? Did anyone prepare for this. Holidays are a huge money maker in this business. I mention this all the time, yet I never really see anyone blog heavy during the holidays. I am guessing that people are busy with family. Traffic on GCDC still continues to climb, mainly from search engine traffic and regular reader traffic seems to have problems with cats getting their tongues. Anyone commenting, or should I disable the comment form and make space for something else? :)

Always! Easter has so far been very good to me. I didn’t really say too much about it as I have on the past holidays. I have made it clear that a lot of money (almost easy money) can be made simply by blogging about the holidays. I scan the blogs of many of the people that read my blog and never see that they do this. So I just don’t really both to mention it too much anymore. I figured that by now, people have a clear idea of what I do and would guess that if they have an interest in it, they’d do it. :)

Just wanted to comment real quick about your great title. I am looking for a server right now and that title drew me in like a fish going after a worm in a small pond. Hooked. Great job Garry.
