Free Palm Centro
RadioShack.com is offering a Free Palm Centro online only when you sign up for a two year agreement with Sprint. This offer ends on Sept. 19th. The Palm Centro cost $399.99 regular retail price.
My daughter owns the Palm Centro and she absolutely loves this phone. I have used it too a few times just to check it out a little bit and it is very kid / teen friendly. The phone comes with an instant messenger built in where you can chat with your friends using MSN Messenger, Yahoo Instant Messenger, and the AOL Instant Messenger, all in one.
It is very graphically rich. The icons are all very colorful and very appealing. Navigating on the phone is a snap and all in all the Palm Centro is a perfect match for a teen. My daughter is 16 years old and totally loves her phone. You can read the Palm Centro product review that she wrote on her blog last month.
Is a mobile phone a waste of time for a teenager?
Not at all! My daughter uses her mobile phone to study. During the day at school she takes notes and when she gets home from school, she writes up her notes into Google Docs, from there she will use her phone to load up her notes from Google Docs using Google Mobile and study for tests.
Last year in 10th grade she would invest tons of time into making flash cards to help her study for texts. However, with the ability to view Google Docs on her Palm Centro, she has eliminated a huge chunk of time with having to create flash cards.
In fact, she shares these docs with quite a few of her friends and they quiz each other using the Instant messenger. Of course, not every parent has been blessed with a daughter like mine, I’ll be the first to admit, my daughter is a breath of fresh air. When I was her age, I was sneaking out at night and chasing girls. Luckily for my wife and I, our daughter is only interested in is getting good grades and preparing for college.
If you are having trouble getting your teen to study, perhaps you should create a situation that makes studying fun. Most all teens enjoy mobile phones. Most teens also hate traditional methods of studying. If you combine studying with elements that appeal to teens, you’ll indeed get much better results.
