Are you wanting to play free Google Games at games.google.com? It seems like everyone I talk to is anticipating Google to start offering free games. As you know, Google’s two rival search engine competitors have been offering their users free games for years. One of the most popular is at games.yahoo.com.

Do you think Google will ever get into the market of hosting free games on their site like Yahoo and MSN do? I think it would be a very huge success if Google got into the free games market. I know for sure that I would register for an account and would play games on a regular basis. What about you? Do you think Google will ever start providing free games? If so, do you think that would be something you would enjoy more over MSN or Yahoo? I look forward to reading your comments!

I’m sure that Google is a lot faster than yahoo. I used to love yahoo games until the ads took over.

I’m NOT a gamer, I’ve never been. During college (in the middle of the 90’s) my “games” were my first HTML pages and programming of simple programms on my Hewlett-Packard HP48 calculator. So I can give my opinion only as an outsider.

My opinion is that Google has such a strong market position that nearly everything it does, it will be an success. Saying Google is cool, so it want be difficult to spread the word in a matter of hours. Million of people use Gmail, so it want be difficult to let them know. Billions use everyday Google for online searches, it wont be difficult to let them know too.

Probably the only error Google could do, is don’t making it free.

I only play from time to time but I bet they could make a lot of money tossing up their ads on those free games sites and isn’t that what it is all about. I use to play a few over at yahoo and I know if google did those ones I would probably frequent it more. lol. Yeah that’s all I need is another addiction. I had heard about google doing games and wondered when it would start. Okay back to work, lots of catching up to do. Oh we no longer have a home. (I’m blogging about it now)

It all depends on what types of games they would offer. If they were to post games like pac-man or something along those lines, then probably not.

On the other hand, if they were to put up a Texas Hold ‘Em poker site, I’d get into trouble with those I write for cause I’d spend most of my time playing. LOL

Then again, if they were to offer the game “Centepede”, I’d play that. That was my game back in the day. LOL

I’m not a gamer (although I have been known to while away a little time with Spider Solitaire and Free Cell). But even though I don’t generally participate in that market, I’ve noticed a couple of sites that are making big launches, UVme (I think it’s called) and another out of the UK.

My feeling is: If Google stays true to form, they will monitor the ongoing gaming sites until one of them has achieved good success, and worked the ‘bugs’ out. Then Google will step in and purchase the site and their brainpower for an exorbitant amount of money (too much to turn down). They will thus have a turnkey operation that has already proven viable and they get the brains behind it to boot.

Or, I could be wrong! It’s happened before.HehHeh!

I used to be addicted to playing backgammon on MSN. Then they changed their format and it was no longer the community it used to be, but I still played. But I have to add that MSN games are very flawed and there were always complaints about people who cheat and “game the system” (pun intended). When I got my macbook, I was no longer compatible to play at MSN (microsoft). So even though I don’t enjoy it as much, I went to yahoo to get my bg fix. But they also aren’t compatible with mac. So I suffered withdrawal and haven’t played bg in nearly half a year. I haven’t found anywhere that it’s fun to play. Sometimes I’ll play silly little games at neopets, just to pass the time. At least they are mac friendly. :p

Damn… I thought this was real but no it was a cheeky post to drag in search engine traffic, ha ha!

Actually I would sign up immediately. I like using my Google account and it would mean that I could challenge my girlfriend to online games of chess without making her sign up to new websites (she hates doing that, she keeps a very low online profile!).
