GC/DC Was In A Huge Forest Fire!
I have to totally give a shout out to Forest Parks because this guy has been totally holding out on us. The blogosphere, I feel, totally needs more graphics guy. Granted there are a few people who do provide great graphics already. However, graphic design, is an art, thus the name: Graphic Design Artist. And with artistry, comes different styles and levels of creativity. It’s really no different than writing but in a different form.
If you like my blog, then indeed you’re going to like my friends. I find people that share common interests and common personality characteristics. One of the characteristics I guess I was born with was having a little bit of creativity.
With that I tend to seek out other people who are also creative. Forest Parks indeed is a very creative individual. As a bonus, he also has over 10 years experience in graphic design. It wasn’t until recently when it dawned on him that he could take is previous experience and transfer it into the digital world.
The results are the two graphic you see on the top of my blog and on the bottom of my blog. In addition, to my brand new header and footer graphic, I also ordered a 125×125 and a 468×60 to use for advertising on other sites or when I do various mutual banner exchanges.
Here is my brand new 125×125 button banner:

If you would like to hire Forest Parks to do graphic design work for you, check out his web page on his professional graphic design service. I got an excellent deal on these graphics and if you’d like to put them on your blog so that your readers can find my blog, please do.

Garry, as I mentioned to you the other day, I love the graphics on your site! That header is awesome and so is the banner. Well done Forest - a very talented person.

The new banner and and button look great and are really eye-catching. They “pop” on the page. Great job!

Indeed man…Forest is awesome on the graphics. I remember when he was thinking of doing it online…we both told him “dude…do it…NOW!!!” lol
His skills are amazing and he can take exactly what you imagine and put it in digital format.
I highly recommend him too.

It looks nice BUT I can see you having some trouble putting the banner on other peoples sites just because of the size issue, 675kb for a banner is A LOT, I think the usual max is somewhere between 25-75kb for banner sizes to reduce site load time.
They look nice nonetheless.

The 468 has 51 frames…. I am sure Forest can trim down the file size. You’re right though, that is big. You can always pull from my server and make it crash. Just use this code:
<a title=”Make Money Online” href=”http://www.garryconn.com/tag/make-money-online”><img alt=”make money online” src=”http://www.garryconn.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/gcdc-468×60-v1.gif”></a>

Interesting stuff. But I too can see you having trouble putting the banner on other people’s sites. You probably won’t have it as a very small file size so it can load very quickly so that people do not miss it.

That’s an awesome banner! I definitely agree that graphics are a must. I mean my blog is a testament ot the effictiveness of eye-catching images. Once suggestion on the AC/DC logo… you should define the “G” a bit more. At first glance, it really looks like “CC/DC - Carry Conn” to me! Other than that, awesome logo work

Did you hear that Forest??? You’re FIRED!!!!
Now I got to go register Carry Conn dot Com… sheesh…

It looked like CC to me too, but I’m wearing sunglasses, since it’s so damn hot! Good work!

Hey Garry Hows it going?
Sorry to hear about your fire. Did you bring beer and marshmallows and watch it burn. Always a good thing to do when youre in a fire.
Forest, or foret (say it with a french accent) now that he resides in Montreal QBC is doing a revamp on my personal blog and I mean complete over haul. I sent him TONS of ideas and graphics for him to use. So hes going to be busy for a while. That and Im an over creative individual and have ideas popping like teeth on a jaw breaker. Poor Foret.
Foret is WAY to quiet and demure about his talent, hes shown me stuff hes done and its about as good as it gets anywhere. I still think he works too cheap, but that’s just greedy ole me. Not even going to tell you what hes charging me for my blog re-design you’d freak out. I’ll bonus him though, hope he doesnt read this, well the thing about bonus-ing him anyways.
Oh and another thing he isnt one of those ego maniacal designers who get all huffy and crap when you “reject” a design concept. Hes very cool about and compliant. Man I wish he were a woman ’cause I like compliant
I love the GCDC thang Garry

Here is the deal with Foret,
I’d like to actually kidnap him and stick him in my closet and just take him out when I need him. Give him some bread and water… perhaps maybe an old laptop with dial up to tide him over.
Oh… and not tell anyone about him either… keep him a secret of course.
I think he is hooking us up with friend RATES as I too pretty much doubled the payment of the original quote he gave me. The man has skills…

Thanks very much everyone…. I got kinda snowed under with Graphics recently but it feels great to be doing it again…. it’s starting to slow down again so if anyone needs anything
send me a mail (forest.parks@gmail.com).
I’m also in the process of creating a site / blog dedicated to design, so will be able to see the whole spectrum of my work and get tips, tutorials and much more.
As for the size issue of these banners…. I discussed it with Garry and we are going to be creating some smaller ones so that he has options to use on sites that have a limitation.
Sadly the speed of the web still gets in the way of animation and graphics but hey….. another 5 years and Web 2.0, 5.0 or 7.0 will be a thing of the past……. we will have Web HD… From a graphics perspective, I can’t wait.

Forest is a graphic designer and has done some work for me recently, particularly in terms of creating a new logo for my site - http://www.zath.co.uk
He did a great job and the site has a much better identity and I’ve received some great feedback from the logo.
If you need graphics work, speak to Forest, you won’t be disappointed!

His prices are already super low… in fact myself as well as another customer gave him more money than he asked for because we felt the work deserved much more than he as asking.
