Get Ready To Make Money Online During Valentines Day

Just a heads up, Valentines Day is just around the corner and there is quite a bit of cash for the taking… that is if you decide to get off your butt and actually blog about something that earns money. I make a lot of money blogging during the holidays. Christmas totally rocks and so does the End of The Year Sales.

Valentines Day is my first holiday drive of the year and it usually does pretty good. That’s usually a good thing too because there is a little bit of a stretch until the next holiday, which is St. Patrick’s Day. That one typically doesn’t do as well and there is an even longer stretch until the next holiday, which is basically Easter.

Usually I split my time invested between Valentines Day and Presidents Day because these two holiday are back to back. Valentines day is very profitable for me because of all the various Jewelry affiliate programs available and also bids for jewelry related keywords in AdWords spike up. Candy and flowers don’t do very well because they are cheap and there is too much competition. However, longtailing various brands and forms of jewelry do quite well.

If you really want to make some money this year during Valentines Day, you should start writing your content now. You should either write it offline or go ahead and write it and scheduled it to start going live on your blog in about two weeks. For me, I am going to spend a week doing Valentines Day content and then week two I am doing to do President’s Day content.

President’s Day sales are pretty sweet. Almost everything is on sale, but there is a lot of focus on computers, electronics and various other technological gadgets such as Apple iPods, Garmin GPS systems, and things like that. Furniture is very hot, especially office furniture… things like Bush Office furniture (popular brand in Amazon.com) and various brands of office desks, computer desks, and chairs.

As always, my content will be monetized primarily with Google AdSense. Outbound links in my content will point to Amazon.com, a few programs in Pepperjam as well as CommissionJunction. I really keep things pretty simple. These four programs usually do just fine for me, any more than that on a holiday campaign tends to dilute my earning too much in various accounts.

Based off last year results, I am estimating that I’ll clear about $4000 to $5000 over the weekend. You should really start taking advantage of holiday traffic. A lot of people read my blog and from time to time, I stop by and visit your blog. Doesn’t seem like anyone really digs holiday blogging. Not sure why? It’s how I earn a huge portion of my income each year. Anyway, if you decide to take advantage of the upcoming back to back holidays, good luck with that.

I’m preparing for Valentines Day currently, but have never heard of Presidents Day – gotta Google that one and start preparing for that as well i guess

Maybe we should start preparing for Obama Office Furniture? :)

Since I don’t run that many sites and the once I have aren’t seasonal I’m not that much into these holiday peaks. But making $5k in a weekend would be a nice bonus so maybe I should consider it.

I have a Valentines To Do List. What do you think the cut off date is for getting Valentines stuff done? And what do you think is the best way to promote if you wait til the last minute to get your content out there?

Thanks, Gary!! :)

Good stuff, Garry. I wouldn’t have thought that President’s Day would be a big one. I’ll have to get on this.

It is… and it very well may be pretty big this year too! If you know what I mean.

Garry, if you write and post stuff about a holiday shortly before it happens, how can you know there will be time to get it indexed and have it appear at the top of the search results. I tried this a bit over the Christmas holiday but it seems like my posts just got buried under a ton of other sites.

Thanks for the reminder Garry!

From my experience, I have come to witness that Google gives new posts a “grace period”. In which Google will allow the new post to be listed somewhat higher in rankings and then after an undetermined amount of time Google will give the post its true position.

Usually this time seems like it can last a day to a week, but I have no concrete evidence to support either of those situations. They are just from my own personal experience.

Then again, if you start early as Garry also mentioned it can give you time to build some links to the posts as well as letting the post age a little bit.

P.S. For those also wondering, Garry wrote up a post awhile back where he included a list of the holidays during the year and a brief comment about them. You can find the post here

It’s a good reminder to plan for the month ahead and can give you a quick oversight to the upcoming holidays ;)

This info is sweet! And shall be preserved. I haven’t started “niche blogging” yet, and certainly don’t want too half-assed, so this year is out.

Hmm, maybe start a blog affiliate program. That way I can just promote yours and get half. LOL

(An interesting idea in theory though, no?)

Hmmm, sounds like a nice little take, but I don’t think I’ll be able to get anything together in time for these holidays. Thanks for the tips though, I’ll be sure to use them in the future!
