Google Is NOT A Relevant Search Engine

This post kind of goes hand in hand with playing the roll of someone who asks another, “hey, what’s the phone number for 911?” or, “hey, what’s the phone number for 411?” Anyway, I went to Google and searched for the term: Search Engine. Ironically, Google didn’t pull up number one. In fact, Google didn’t pull up at all on the first, second or even the third page.

You see this all started when I discovered that my blog didn’t rank #1 for make money online in Google, go figure! I immediately knew that there was some kind of problem. As is turned out, I was right. You have to know that Google is really trashed up that it doesn’t even rank #1 for search engine. The good news is that I now know why I don’t rank #1 for make money online. All this time, I was thinking that I was doing something wrong. I feel totally at piece now.

Google Doesn’t Rank For Search Term: Search Engine

Google considers Altavista as being the number one search engine. Second place is given to DogPile, third place to Ask.com. Amazingly forth place is given to Wikipedia and finally fifth place goes to Yahoo!

Yahoo Ranks #1 For Search Engine In Yahoo!

Yahoo! isn’t afraid to tell the world that they think they’re #1. If you go to Yahoo! and type in the search phrase: search engine, you’ll discover that Yahoo! is the number one search engine. They are even nice to give Google the #2 spot. Third place goes to DogPile, forth place to Altavista and fifth place goes to WebCrawler.

DogPile is a Pile of Shit!

Now here’s where things get real interesting. Doing a search on DogPile for search engine is quite entertaining. You see, DogPile is advertised as being as a place where you can get the best of all search engines in one place. The way I see it and based on the results of having searched for phrase search engine, DogPile is nothing more than a pile of dog shit.

On the top fold of DogPile there are five, yes, FIVE!!!! sponsored listings! The entire page shows 20 results and 10 of which are sponsored listings. The two NON-Sponsored listings on the top fold of DogPile are Wikipedia and SearchEngineWatch.com.

I have come to the conclusion that all search engines provide irrelevant information all because I don’t rank #1 for make money online on any of them! and yes… DogPile, the name says it all. :)

Just a poke at search engines, I am just having fun. I don’t have any expectation to rank #1 for make money online. But I’ll take that spot if it was given to me. ;)

Wow, Altavista actually ranks for search terms in search engines? That’s a little weird, the only thing Altavista is useful for anymore is if you want to search for audio files, other then that, useless.

Ha Ha… Google thinks that they are the #1 search engine on the Internet. ;)

Ha, great post. Sometimes it’s funny to step back and take a look at the tools we rely so much upon. Some of these findings are straight up comical! Thanks for the laugh.

Who’s laughing… I am a suffering from neglect… I should be #1 for MMO and now I realize why Google is failing me. :)

I don’t understand how Google comes up with some of the results that they do, but as long as I have the #1 spot for “weight loss” (google.ca anyway) then that is all I care about :)

I am actually surprised that you aren’t in the top 3. Google rankings are really weird. John Chow doesn’t even appear until page 5.

As long as you keep producing the quality content that you do, you’ll be on top in no time.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the boost of confidence, but the day I rank #1 for MMO is the day pigs fly. ;)

But you know what, there’s nothing wrong with giving it a shot and just like shaking that lucky 8 ball, Google Image search reveals that pigs really do fly. :)

… so there is hope. LOL!!!

Oh, I remember the days when Dogpile (the metasearch engine) was relevant, and when Altavista was number one, and when DejaNews was a rockin’ site, and when Infoseek did real-time indexing, and when ICQ had that big foghorn sound whenever you’d start it up (great for the office) and ….. :)

Interesting thing about the SE ranking for Google, I will admit!

Barbara
