It starts with the basics and points out specifically the first things you need to do towards achieving an improved search engine optimization (SEO) with Google. Have you been searching Google for a site that starts from the beginning? I created this article to help beginners learn how to improve their search engine optimization in Google. Lets start from the beginning and keep things real simple!
Step One: Add Your URL To Google
You need to add your URL to Google. Google adds and updates new sites to their index each time their Bots crawls the web. Google invites everyone to submit their URL. Keep in mind, only the top-level page from a host is necessary; you do not need to submit each individual page. Google’s crawler, Googlebot, will be able to find the rest. Google updates its index on a regular basis so there is no need to resubmit your URL.
- [Submit URL] then move on to Step Two.
Step Two: Create A Sitemap
Create a sitemap for you site. My site uses Wordpress (an opensource blog publishing program). Consequently, adding a sitemap to my Wordpress installation was a snap and look only a few minutes. I used Google Sitemap Generator for WordPress v2 Final to create my sitemap. This is a simple and easy Wordpress Plugin that you can install in less than five minutes.
- [Download Now] then move on to Step Three.
Step Three: Add Your Sitemap To Google
Google has an awesome section called, Google Webmaster Tools. Once you have created your sitemap using the Google Sitemap generator, visit the Google Webmaster Tools section and 1.) add your site to the Webmaster Tools section. 2.) Click add sitemap, and proceed to enter in your sitemap URL.
[Launch Google Webmaster Tools] *Requires Google Account Log In
All Done! That is it! No More Steps!
Now how easy was that? Ok… I know, things happen and sometimes things aren’t as easy as them seem, right? If that is the case, know that I am here for you. If you run into any trouble, have any questions, or need any help… I am here to help.
Simply comment using the form below and I will receive an instant notification of your comment and be able to assist you with any snag you run into. This article is a basic overview that I have summarized into three steps. Realistically that is all there is. Add your URL, Create a sitemap, and submit the sitemap to Google using Google’s Webmaster Tools. However, in this process you do need to invest time into reading all the little steps towards the big picture here. (such as the Wordpress sitemap generator installation steps).

Bryan,
Thanks for the reference, but you might want to take a closer look at the article because the reference you have provided in your comment is the reference I used in the article.
Thanks though! lol
And yes… you are right, It is very easy to use and very nice! Thanks for the comment and be sure to subscribe to this article, because we might get a few questions coming in here and you can help me answer them if you like.
Talk to you soon,
Garry
Wow, I guess I must have read right over that. You have some great resources in your writings.
Thanks Bryan,
Hey… no big deal either… I am glad that you are here visiting the site and my goal is to help you with improving your Google SEO and helping you become successful blogger, or more successful if you already feel a personal success with your current blogging venture and experience. Let me know how I can help you.
Also, I am not some magic SEO goddess… I am a guy just like you, except my name is Garry, and yours is Bryan. My goal is to share what I know with the blogosphere so that we all can share in a personal success with blogging. Whether that may be making money online, voicing an opinion to a mass audience, etc.
People have blogs for many reasons, I am here to help people be successful with their ideas and turn them into something successful and real.
If you have advise, suggestions, and references that you would like to share… please feel free to comment on any articles/pages here on the site that is relevant to the thought you want to share or express.
Talk to you soon,
Garry
I really would like to build more readers. I have never gotten over 10. How might you suggest I do that? Take a look at my blog and let me know what I can do to improve it. Also, I am on Technorati. Let me know if there is anything I can do on their also.
I would limit or eliminate posts like this on your blog. And instead I would create a comment on a relevant site that can help you with this.
Viewers turn to blogs to learn something. A blog author (unwritten rule of course) is expected to be an expert in what he blogs about.
It just happened that today was my first visit to your site and that was the first post. My initial thoughts about your site:
a.) you are not an expert
b.) you are seeking help
Don’t be offended. I am not saying that you are not an expert in what you blog about. I am more/less communicating my personal first thoughts and impressions of your site.
Actually, you are doing quite well. You must be buddies with Ryan over at Ryan’s Life because I noticed that there were quite a few backlinks you acquired from his site. Ryan is an awesome guy and I wish I could find more time to talk with him. Blogging tends to spread people out real thin… but he is a very nice guy and I enjoy his site a lot. I subscribe to his feeds and read everything he writes… I just lack time to comment and add my two cents in.
Your overall Google PageRank is 3. Which is great! There is nothing wrong with that one bit. Also you BackLinks are up to 68… so this means that Google has definitely found your site, and you are headed in the right direction towards increasing your success with your blogging venture.
I will be creating a full article about this, but for now here is a Google Indexing Tip
When I search Google for the entire list of pages indexed on your site [reference] all the page titles are not really optimized for GSERP.
are examples of what I find in Google. You should modify your meta description and title so that you pack a few relevant terms into your titles that will be displayed on Google.
If you don’t understand what I am talking about now, that is ok! Because I will create a full article about it… because this is something everyone over looks, and by modifying a few things on your current wordpress theme header.php file you can ultimately shape and mold the way your pages/categories/and posts appear in GSERP!
Keep an eye out for the article… you will know it when you see it, and it will be written specifically for you but will also be geared to help everyone who uses Wordpress.org as their choice blog publisher software program.

I would definitely like to know more about that title thing you are talking about. I will take out that one post. Thanks for the help so far. Any more help would be greatly appreciated.
Ok… the article is published and is titled, “The Ultimate Google SEO and SERP Secret“.
Thanks already used it.
You are welcome…
[...] My new friend Gary Conn covers the ‘how to’ using WordPress and a WordPress plugin in a great post from a couple of days back. Read his post for the details. But here are the highlights: Step One: Add Your URL to Google. [...]
I have made sitemap as well as i submitted my url to google, but still my site has not been indexed. can you tell me why this is so and whether it takes time to index on google search
Nubr2,
You just launched your blog on Jan. 14th. Getting your site indexed on Google does take some time…. additionally as your site grows so do the amount of listings on Google. Or what I mean to say, Google puts more weight on making sure your site pulls up in the SERP’s when a user searches a keyword that is relevant to the content on your site.
I just check google and your site isn’t even in the system yet. Google Index.
The blog is new… you are not going to get traffic to your site for awhile. What you need to do is prepare for the storm. When a hurricane is headed to a town, people prepare their house for it… board up windows, remove objects from their yard that can fly off and hurt someone, etc…
Right now, you have 30 to 90 days to prepare for the storm…. which means, write GOOD content… Use Titles that will attract the interest of people as well as assist in a good Google Index.
There is a reason why I put certain words in bold here on this site… that is to give people an example of how I write to help with getting my pages seen in the GSERPS.
When you create a blog, you need to think about five primary keyword groups that you want to use towards marketing. And in your content (articles and pages) you need to logically use these keyword groups as much as you can. Use them almost every time in your Title and URL and use them in the body message of your posts.
I know that you want to hurry up and have things done quickly… but it doesn’t work way… I totally suggest that we work on things together… I can help you! If you are willing to invest the time into reading, I would first read the articles that I write. I write them to help bloggers. Spend some time reading here on the site. By reading what I write, you will start to learn more about Google and how the Google Search Engine works.
Best Regards,
Garry Conn
