Google SEO Tip: Controlling Your Content
Google wants to get to know you and your site just as much (if not more) than humans. This article is about controlling your content. By being selective with your wording and controlling the content on your site, you basically paint a virtual picture for Google that illustrates what you and your site are all about. Earlier I wrote an article about Controlling Your Links, which teaches you good foundational skills in controlling internal and external content you link to (a virtual road map that allows Google to navigate to the content you want). The Google Bot is like any domesticated animal. You can teach it to sit, stay, and roll over. And in this article I will teach you how to allow Google to recognize you for who you are and recognize your site for what lies within.
It is called, Keyword Density, or in other words, the percentage of words on a web page that match a specified set of keywords on a user Google search. In the context of search engine optimization, keyword density can be used as a factor in determining whether a web page is relevant to a specified keyword or keyword phrase. In other words, when a user searches for a keyword or group of keywords on Google, the likelihood of your site pulling up on the Google Search Engine Results Page (GSERP) is partly determined by the keyword density within your page. (How often does your page have this keyword in it?) That is keyword density and ultimately how you control your content is by knowing in advanced which keywords or keyword groups you want to target.
Keep in mind, new bloggers should NOT try to target more than 5 keyword groups. And new bloggers should not try to target individual words. New blog sites have no backlinks recorded in Google, and hold no weight with Google in the GSERP. To learn more about optimizing your blog for targeted keywords and keyword groups, I would suggest reading an article that I wrote titled, “How To Get Your Blog Articles To Appear In Google?”
Do you understand how to control your content? In summary, when you write articles and publish content to your site, be consistent and use the 5 keyword groups you have chosen to target as often as you can. But, do not make your writing appear to be nonsense. Google and Google’s pack of dogs, “Google Bots” are trained and are very smart. They understand logical grammar and they can weed out a site that is purposely over saturating their content with targeted keywords.
Controlling your content means, be yourself. Talk about what you have chosen to talk about and stick with it. I want to invite you to ask questions, I am here to help. My name is Garry Conn, and I write about Successful Blogging, Google SEO, and Online Marketing. I volunteer my time by writing and publishing articles that are intended to help you become a successful blogger.
