Google Updates PageRank. The Results May Shock You!
It seems like Google has updated the PageRank again. My blog has gone from a PR4 to a PR5. While that is a wonderful thing, I must celebrate this privately as I have many friends who have taken a PageRank hit.
I am very happy that my blog has increased. I would like to believe that my actions are the cause for this update. For some who have taken a PageRank hit, this really shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.
The way I see it, if you don’t run a blog or website that follows Google’s webmaster guidelines, then quite honestly… you don’t have much of a leg to stand on with rants and complaints. The old saying I believe is true, “You can’t have your cake and eat it too…” and many bloggers are angry after discovering that their PageRank has dropped, yet they willingly go against some key elements outlined in Google’s guidelines.
The truth is that I really don’t know why my PageRank has increased. I would like to believe that it has increased because I continue to build and increase a trust relationship with Google. I respect their rules and ranking well in Google is very important to me, therefore I comply with their guidelines.
All in all… I totally reach out to my friends and fellow bloggers who have taken a hit in their PageRank. However, this should be a lesson learned. At some point in time, you need to sit down and ask yourself what is more important for you and your blog. If you value your PageRank, then you need to recognize that using programs like Text-Link-Ads, ReviewMe.com, etc… are bad for your blog and bad for your PageRank. It’s just a matter of time before Google does something about it.
For those who value their PageRank and have taken a hit in the wrong direction, use this time to reflect upon your actions and choices made over the last six months or so… and then starting today make some changes. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, I am totally here to help.

Congrats on the increase, I also got a PR surprise as CyberCoder.net received it’s first PR of 4. That was the longest timeframe I have ever had to wait for an initial PageRank.
I saw that earlier… and was going to send you a message about it. Congrats! I am very happy for you man! I haven’t been able to get much done tonight because I am visiting all of my blogs as well as the blogs I read to see the new rankings.
Well done Garry! Congrats! I moved up from a PR 0 to a PR 4, so I’m pretty happy. I used to be a 3 back when I was using a blogspot address, but when I moved the blog over to aaroncook.com back in April I fell back to zero. So it’s good the be a 4 now!
Shine on,
Aaron
Hey there Aaron,
Nice work man… very nice! You work very hard on your blog and I think people see that in your content, site design and great use of graphics.
Thanks Garry! I definitely appreciate your kind words.
Shine on,
Aaron
Congrats!
I got a PR of 2, which in my book isn’t too bad. I guess I need to start reading more on how I can increase it.

Hi, Garry! Congrats on your PR5 status. The Kat House went from PR0 to PR4. Not bad considering that I moved the blog to its current domain in May. BWL went from PR0 to PR4 as well. And that blog was only born in June!
Well deserved Tish! Nice work… you blog is fun to read and I think the update is well deserved. You provide excellent content for readers and you don’t participate in programs that attempt to manipulate PageRank. All in all perhaps working in HR has some transferable skills for bloggers.
@ Owen,
I have linked over and read your blog a few times. I like it. Have you considering adding an “About Me” and a “Contact Me” page so readers can learn more about you as well as have a means for contacting you? Keep up the great work. I noticed you launched in Jan. and have a big gap in the months and started picking back up a few months ago. Congrats on the PR2 and I can this this going higher for you in the next update.
I’m really happy that Google finally updated PageRank. Luckily my blog went from a PR3 to PR4 which makes me smile. I’m glad that Google just did something, however I still wonder why it took them so long.
I have wondered that too… one thing I was considering is the explosive growth of the Internet. But, who knows… I am glad its done and I am very pleased too. Congrats on your personal success as well.
I used to PR3, haven’t ever used paid links, so haven’t dropped, but am currently still PR3, so not sure if my update hasn’t happened yet or if I’ve not done enough in the past few months to get an upgrade.
We shall see!
