Google Video or YouTube: Where the hell should I upload to?
I understand that Google, Inc. owns YouTube. With that being said, where should I upload my videos to? Should I upload direct to YouTube or upload straight to Google Video? From an SEO and SEM standpoint, I don’t see much of a difference between the two. Uploading to either place is going to get you some pretty decent results in Google. So, I guess my only thought to consider is which place with give you the most traffic internally?
If you upload a video to YouTube, will you get more traffic from YouTube.com compared to uploading your video to Google Video and people using the Google Video search bar?
I am going to be uploading quite a few private family based videos soon and I am wondering how I should go about this? What are your thoughts… do you think its better to upload to YouTube or to Google Video? Again in my case, SEO and SEM doesn’t really matter as most of this videos I’ll be uploading are going to be marked as private. However, for public accessible videos, I am wondering if there is a mainstream preference between the two?
I would love to hear your thoughts!

See that is what I was thinking… uploading to YouTube, I am going to get Google SERP as well as internal YouTube traffic… where if I upload to Google Video… I’ll miss out on YouTube traffic. Is that a safe assumption?

Youtube has the whole social network behind it, so if you want traffic to see what you have created, that’s where I would upload

I would say YouTube. Even Google is highlighting YT more than Google Videos. Just look at what they have done with internal systems like the AJAX API. Just recently they changed some tags from Google to YouTube. Look at this page that is built using 100% Google API tools, http://www.cybercoder.net/ajaxsearch/ , scroll down and look at the logo under the Video Bar on the left, it now says YouTube. Until a few weeks ago it was “Powered by Google”.

@ Mike,
I don’t want to upload to both because that would create a duplicate and the end result would more likely be the two videos in the SERPs back to back… interesting thought though, but I don’t think Google would like it. Anyone have some thoughts on this?
@ David,
David very nice point… I noticed that too. I have been wondering for awhile (just like everyone else) … what the heck is Google, Inc. going to do with YouTube. What do you think the future holds here?

They are placing a lot of focus on YouTube and away from Google Videos. The guys at Google are smart and know that YouTube had the best image to the end user when it came to videos. Here is another good example, the lines between Google and YouTube API’s are getting mighty thin.

In a year I think we will be saying Google Videos? Oh yeah, I remember that!

I would suggest Youtube for traffic reasons as well as the fact that google seems to be putting much more focus on youtube. Most of the videos that I see within SERPS come from youtube, then google and metacafe. I am definitely interested in what you end up doing and what you find out. I would love to cover it on my Video SEO site – Reelseo.com. Please let me know what you end up doing and how well it works. Thanks.

I always use Google Video simply because I prefer the interface. Not too much else matters to me.

YouTube all the way. Tons more people use it and will see your videos for a much longer time. And of course, I love the community aspect behind it all.

Why not just upload to both?
However in my experience Google Video traffic is only a brief spell whereas youtube continuously gets views as users subscribe to your channel and do tag searches.
