Happy 9th Birthday Google

Today Google is 9 years old. That is so weird. It gives me a similar feeling like when I reflect on the fact that my own son is 9 years old. Time really does fly fast. At Garry Conn dot Com, I have quite a diverse readership. I have pro Firefox users as well as FireFox haters. I have Pro Microsoft users as well as hard core Linux eats MS for breakfast type readers. The same goes with Google. I am many readers who blatantly broadcast their hate for Google and others who totally love Google like it was their own pet dog.

I am the type of guy who will wish anyone a happy birthday… my closest friends and even worst enemies. It’s all about choices and sometimes people make good ones and sometimes they don’t. In my eyes, Google Inc. isn’t perfect, but they really do a damn good job trying.

Happy 9th Birthday Google and Garry Conn dot Com wishes you many more.

I would love to hear your thoughts, rants and raves about Google. Just because I like Google doesn’t mean you have to. With this article, go ahead a spill out anything that is on your mind! You can count on Google picking it up even on a birthday. Google never gets a day off, even on its birthday! lol!!!

I personally like Google, use many of their products (for free), perhaps losing some of my privacy along the way, but I think the benfits outway the negatives, for me anyway, I believe there’s far, far worse companies out there in the world!

Just think where we might be without Google today, the Internet was certainly a very different place before then – think I prefer where it has got to with Google than I would without!

I think Google is great. In some instances I feel that they are stingy by cracking the whip down on people who want to use other monetization services. But, as I had mentioned in the post, things wouldn’t really be as good as they are today if it wasn’t for their technology. I remember finally making the transition from Yahoo to Google like it was yesterday. I was instantly able to find things I wanted much easier. Also, with Google, my site ranking didn’t depend on an editor’s mood of the day. Meaning back in the day when I submitted to Yahoo Directory, when the editor approved my listing… he could have come to work happy. Other listings that may have been declined, he could have been pissed off at his wife and rejected every submission for that day because he was angry.

With Google, I deal with a program that has the mentality of a child. I have three kids, so this is nothing new to me. Programs are much more predictable than humans. And the more that people learn that Google is operated by a program instead of a human is when they can start to take their listings to a higher level.
