Page Rank is really something that hasn't effected me all. I get lots of search engine traffic for things that have nothing to do with my blog :(

Now that I have a decent PR, I'm trying to figure out how best to exploit it :)

Hi Garry,
I agree totally with your stance on Google. If you want it to work for you, you need to stay within the guidelines. If you try to game the system, don't be surprised if the system games you right back!
On a different, but slightly similar note: as you wrote in an earlier post, you should not rely on Google entirely. This is especially important for blogs because the social aspect is a lot more important there. If you want more visitors to your blog you need to be out there , pull them to your blog and then keep them there with great content. It's great to get a lot of visitors through Google but if they don't convert into customers, advert clickers or whatever the reason is that you want them on your site, they're useless.
Just curious: you do a very good job with converting people into repeat visitors (as anyone can see from the comments), but do they also convert into what makes you money? Exposure alone probably doesn't do it for your advertisers.

@betshopboy
PR N/A or unranked just means that the page has not been ranked yet. For instance, the page that holds this post also has an unranked status. Why you would have this rank is unclear because you've got a lot of links so you should have at least some PR.
It certainly does not have to do with it being a .net domain name. We have .net domain name with PR 4.
If pressed for an explanation I'd go for the age of the domain and insufficient data on Google's part.
And don't worry, the next party will be similar or even bigger and better :D

Hi Garry

For the record, I don't hate PageRank, in fact, I love it to death!

When I did a PR check, my 2 month old domain returned as “PR N/A”.

What does “PR N/A” means? I’m not even sure if it's equal to a big fat ZERO! Could it be due to it being a .net domain instead of .com?

You know how I feel? It’s like not being invited to the biggest and most anticipated party of the year!

Good call Mark...

Matthew's site is an excellent example of a community driven blog. Imagine a blog like that but with a focus on a highly concentrated niche market such as watches, hunting, photography, etc...

@DayJobNuker:
Blog About Your Blog is an excellent example. Matthew (the owner) has created a great community over there, and with so many contributing authors there, there's bound to be something for everyone.

@ DayJobNuker,

Man... I feel your pain dude. But, lets take a minute to think about this. I totally understand where you are coming from as far as not having much of an interest in other niche markets. That's fine... and I have a simple solution for you: Guest Blogging. If you build a community driven blog, you will attract people who do have a love and a passion for this niche and they will be more than willing to write for you. Even more willing when you offer up some profit sharing options, or simply allow them to post some of their own affiliate based products. You can easily just sit back in your DayJobNuker Recliner and refresh your page and see new content being written on your blog hour on the hour. :)

@ Matt,

I think that a site would need to be in compliance with their TOS prior to feeling they have been shafted. It's hard for me to provide support and sympathy for a blogger who feels that they have been used and abused by Google if they don't operate a blog or site that follows their basic guidelines.

Talk to me more about you blaming Google allowing this big debate. How could could they prevent this from happening? Bloggers are pissed and they are ranting. What could Google have done to prevent that?

Talk to you soon buddy and thanks for dropping the comment.:)

@ Symbian,

I am not sure why it took such a long time for PR to update this time around. I think it'll be like Dec of 2022 before we get the next. lol!!! :)

Actually Google has rised up my pagerank very nice. But frequency of PR update is really low.
