How Many Backlinks Do You Need To Rank For Keywords in Google?

How many backlinks do you need to rank for keywords in the Google organic searchHow many backlinks do you need to rank for keywords in the Google organic search? This must be a very common thing that people are trying to figure out. People often ask me this exact question at least once a week. Today I found a post in Courtney Tuttle’s RSS feed titled, How Many Links Does It Take To Get Ranked #1 In Google. In this post you will get a very good explaination to this question. What he says in this article is well worth considering and pretty much matches what I believe as well.

I’ll admit that I don’t focus very heavily on backlinks, but there are times when I launch a niche site and it fails to rank independat of backlinks. When that happens, I do pretty much exactly what is mentioned in the article.

I try my best to keep up with things going on in the sphere. But I must have missed something because the post I read came from Courtney Tuttle’s RSS feed which for a certain length of time has been plugged in using Yahoo Pipes. The article actually comes from the site titled, The Keyword Academy. I never heard of this site, but it seems that Courtney Tuttle and a partner jointly own it. It is relivetly new, but the content from within is great.

Another article that I would like for you to read is one titled, How To Really Make Money With Google AdSense. As you know, I talk about this all the time on my blog, but I think with you reading this article will help you get another perspective that delivers the same message. I personally enjoyed reading the article and feel it can help you by hearing the information from someone else.

I like Courtney Tuttle and I really enjoy reading the information he publishes on his blog. I don’t have a lot of time to read blogs, but Courtney’s is one that I usually try to make an effort towards reading. If you want to learn more about Courtney, you should check out his about me page. It’s one of the better about me pages I have read on a blog. Also, I absolutely love the design of his blog.

Let me give you a two additional references that I think you’ll appreciate reading.

  1. Google Webmaster Tools and Discovering Your Links - Very good overview of Google Webmaster tools and explaination of links. Also be sure to follow all the links in the article and read. You need to put in about 1 hour of reading via this reference alone.
  2. Sphinn Search Results For: Backlink - For those who don’t know, Sphinn.com is a Digg.com version just for freaky and highly skilled Internet Marketers and SEOs. If I were you, I would totally register for a profile and start getting busy making friends and reading the articles that get submitted and voted on in this network.

  2. Hi Garry –

I’ve been following your blog for a few weeks now, reading your current and archived posts, and I must say that the whole niche blogging thing is quite interesting. Your tips are amazing, thank you. My question is: have you made public any niche sites/blogs that you have launched yourself? I would be curious in checking them out. If you don’t make these public, that’s cool, but I figured I’d ask because I’d really like to see one of your sites/blogs “in the flesh.” Thanks.

  7. Tracee,
A backlink means that someone on another site links to your site or one of your posts.
If you look at Garry’s post here, you see he linked to The Keyword Academy (in blue) …that is a backlink.

Google likes those and assumes that if other blogs in similar niches are giving your blog backlinks, then you must be pretty important.

Of course, there are quality backlinks, and not so quality backlinks, but you can find out more by reading ALL of Garry’s archive posts.

  9. You may have posted this elsewhere, but any ideas on how to get higher PR backlinks. All comments tend to be 0. Is that just the price you have to pay when getting started?

  10. With comments, more often Then not you do need to play the waiting game. Eventually if the blogger sticks around, inner pages will gain PR.

Assuming the comments are do follow that is.
