How To Create a Comment Policy For Your Blog
Have you ever thought about learning how to create a comment policy on your blog? As your blog grows and you increase the number of people who read it you will notice more and more people leaving comments on the things you write. Sometimes these comments can be something you might not want posted on your blog or something that will offense the eyes of your readers. With that said, it might be a good idea to create your own comment policy.
Creating a comment policy can be as simple or as complicated as you want it to be. You can write something up and speak from the heart or you can turn in your draft copy to an attorney and he can put it all into that super strange and hard to understand legal terminology. In either case, a comment policy should express what you expect and illustrate why your expectations are important to you, your blog, and the community that reads it. Additionally, your comment policy should also explain the consequences if a user’s action violates your policy.
To help you get a few ideas, I have included a few examples I found on other blogs. These are all examples that I will be researching myself towards developing my own comment policy here on GarryConn.com.
- Huffington Post Comment Policy
- The Blog Herald Comment Policy
- Sony Playstation Blog Comment Policy
- The Comment Policy WordPress Plugin – Be sure to check this one out, it looks very cool.
- Comment Policy With Comment License WordPress Plugin.
- MasonWorld.com’s Comment Policy

I have been thinking about adding comments to my blogs and really appreciate this information you have given us. Thank you so much.
This is something I’ve added before to blogs but I have never been able to put together a decent one. Thanks for the tips in this post my new comment policy will look much more professional.
Really interesting. I’ve not thought about creating a comment policy but after reading I think I’ve to work on it.
