How To Create a Favicon For Your Blog

Have you ever noticed that some blogs have a small logo appear in your web browser address bar? This is called a Favicon. It has been around for many years.

In this post I will show you how you can make one for your blog quickly and easily. Fortunately for you, making a Favico is very simple. Back many years ago, that wasn’t the case.

Today, there are Favicon Generators. Most of them are free and a few of the free ones only require you to register for an account. One of the Favicon Generators I like to use the most is www.Favicon.cc. It is free to use and doesn’t require registration. You can also upload images from your personal computer and edit them using their online Favicon editor. Here is a screen shot below:

I have had the same golden letter “G” as my favicon since 2007. I felt like it was time for a change. I love my new iPhone and enjoy taking pictures with it. So, I figured I would make my new Favicon a picture of me holding my iPhone taking a picture of you!

I think that using an actual image of the blogger is a great idea as it gives the blog a personal touch. I’ve been using a version of a gravatar as my favicon for ages and recently changed it to an image of myself using the same pose as the gravatar image. I though that was a neat touch.

I knew that they are software for creating Favicon but i have never bother creating one but now i think i should create for my blog

I like your new favicon Garry. Very original. My personal preference for creating favicons is http://www.html-kit.com/favicon/ but I guess they all do the same stuff in the end.

Excellent reference. You can enter your Twitter screen name and it will generate a favicon based odd that. Very cool, I like that.
