Hi Everyone:

I started with Hubpages towards the end of September 2008, and my experiences with them have been less than stellar. Hubpages was my first experience with my blogging, although Hubpages is not really similar to blogging. Hubpages is more like article writing. They expect high-quality informational articles.

Anyway, I have 44 hubs. Since I have been with them, I have made less than 10.00 with Adsense and zero with Amazon. I have not become an Ebay affilate yet. I do not feel like my experiences are that different from most other hubbers. If you look at their forums, every once in awhile, someone will ask how much money they can make with Hubpages, although a few admit to making over a few hundrede a month, most make pennies to a few dollars a month. From what I've read, it seems like it takes most hubber anywhere from 10 months + to get their first Adsense payout. One needs a 100.00 in earnings to get an adsense payout.

I also have noticed that after I publish a hub, Google will index it but later it will be deindexed. I have also noticed this trend with other's accounts too. It seems like I keep publishing hubs, yet the traffic never breaks out of it's range.

Since this is my situation, I have spent considerable time thinking about why this is. I have come to the conclusion, it is because of several reasons. The number one reason is people don't write on a niche. If your not writing on a niche, it makes it a heck of lot harder to promote your hub. Rather than promote one topic, you have too many different topics to try to promote, and it makes it much harder to get backlinks. Hand in hand with this is people pick the wrong usernames. One example of this on hubpages is a hubber that writes the majority of their hubs on tinnitis. You can't tell me a person writes hubs on tinnitis over and over again for enjoyment. They are doing it because it works.

Secondly, rather than pick a name related to the niche, they pick an unrelated name. Once you've chosen your username with them, you can't change it. Your only choice is to abadon the account and start over. Furthermore, there is the problem of the way hubs look and branding. Through no fault of the hubber, I don't think hubs look as professional as they could, and it is harder to brand your blog when you are using a free host.

I don't mean to be negative, but I think people should know what to expect before they sign up. In order to be successful, you have to make the right choices in beginning. Furthermore, it isn't a road to quick riches. I've often wondered if people would just stick with it, if things would turn around later.

That's my two cents worth. By the way Gary, I really enjoy your blog. Although I haven't tried it yet since I don't have a paid host, I am wondering more and more if microniches with static webpages might be the way to go.

Monetizing HubPages can be as tricky as any other website or blog. The key is finding profitable keywords on which to base HubPages. Unless you want to do HubPages for fun, there is no sense in starting a Hub based on a keyword that will attract people who just want to be informed about your topic and are not looking to buy a solution to a problem.

Keywords! Start there and then follow the great advice by Stephanie and others in this thread.

Dennis I would definitely consider it as long as it is done with integrity. I maintain a 99 to 95 hubpage score and am proud of that. I would not use guest posting as a way to promote any product I was not comfortable with.

Please read some of my hubpages first, get an idea of my writing style and then we can discuss what webpage you want to me write about, or how to incorporate your link into a helpful article about a related subject. On my profile page is a link to contact me. I do not want to post my e-mail address here so that will be a good way to get in contact with me.

I can write the content with my expert status hubpages account and then show you how you can earn a 10% share of the impressions for adsense, ebay, amazon by having your own account and using the refer option with article marketing. You will have to do the marketing of the hubpage on your own as I'm a single full time working mom and will not be able to dedicate time to this.

Because it would be on my account, I can do screen shots to show you how well the article is doing in traffic. Look forward to here from you Dennis.

I guess I don't mind making this offer to anyone. Just get in contact with me and a brief description of what your looking for in a guest post.

Thanks..

Your Welcome Dennis..

Hubpages is an awesome tool for people who love to create web content and want each article to stand independently. Yes of course its possible to use it to promote other ventures, but only if done sparingly.

Here is why I do well at hubpages. I write articles and then I monetize them because I do not have the time or patience to monitor and work on a bunch of websites. Tried it, and didn't even last a year ;)

Each hubpage I create to be the last stop for the reader and then try to get them to click on adsense, ebay, or amazon... I tried using them to promote the other sites I had for a short time and found it wasn't working for me. (- I have to also say that my other sites were nothing special. Yours may do better)

After I write an hubpage I find Amazon and Ebay Products to go with. If I know that the money for that topic is soley in the adsense, then I leave those out. I occasionally promote a clickbank product or a pepperjamnetwork store, but as far as affiliate stuff, thats it. I will tell you I've never had a clickbank sell from something that is on My hubpages. Now thinking about it, I'm going to go remove those links..

I have heard success with promoting other peoples blogs and websites with articles on hubpages for cash, hell I'd write a factual article about another website to give them press and a good linkback for the right offers. But promoting a single or set of blogs or websites over and over under the same account does not suit well with hubpages.

I am a hubpage author. I have 99 hubpages as of this posting. Hubpages is my strongest online $$ earning tool. Hubpages is not for everyone.

My advice for those wanting to use Hubpages for affiliate product promoting or backlinks is to not push your product too strongly in the beginning. There are hub requirements and if you do not meet them, not only will your article not rank or even be found in search engines, but you risk having it removed from the site all together.

begin by writing for the google adsense with very little product promotion be it your website or your affliate product. Write your articles soley for the purpose of testing keywords and google adsense.

After you have 15-20 hubpages, then if you want to use them as a tool for promotion, go for it. Just read the submission rules closely and follow them
cheers
