Man this is weird. I haven’t had a “JOB” in a long time. For the last few years, I have totally been 110% self employed, but as you know, Angie and I are expecting our 4th child. It’s a boy by the way. Anyway, so with the soon new addition to our family, I am always out on the hunt for opportunities to make money.
A few weeks ago, I was trolling around Darren Rowse’s Job Board and found a classified advertisement for a writing opportunity to blog on a SEO blog. I thought that was really cool. I thought to myself for a minute, “Can I blog about SEO?” and I decided to check out the company and the blog where they were looking for a writer and felt like I could do an excellent job for them.
I decided to apply for the position and shortly after Chad Bean from HostGator contacted me back and said that they would enjoy having me on their writing team. So right now, I am kind of on cloud nine here. I enjoy blogging a lot and enjoy the profitable benefits from doing so. One thing that is really neat is the fact that other businesses and companies are now starting to see a value in my writing skills and overall experience as a blogger.
For me, its one thing to be able to make money online with a blog, but its so completely different to know that other businesses have an interest in me, my writing skills, overall experience with blogging and I am sure my online reputation plays a factorization into this as well. Honestly, it feels great! If you asked me, “Hey Garry, what would be the perfect job in this world?” I would say, that my perfect job would be a professional blogger who represents medium to large scale businesses.
This is something that I talk to my wife about all the time. It puzzles me why so many large scale businesses don’t have blogs. Over the last few years, I am starting to see more and more higher scale businesses launch blogs, such as last year when Wal-Mart launched their Check Out Blog. In my opinion, if more larger scale businesses were to open up and expand their creative minds on marketing, they would totally see how building a blog and hiring a few bloggers to write on it could make a huge impact on their brand and increase their overall sales. Surprisingly, there isn’t a large number of companies that have started a blog.
Anyway, I have been hired to write three articles per week on SEOHosting.com, a division of HostGator. I will be publishing one new article every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Today, I wrote my first article titled, Is Your Web Site or Blog Mobile User Friendly and I would love for you to read it and drop me a comment on that post. I will be doing a complete series on making your site mobile Internet ready so be sure to follow this series as it can totally help you with your own blog.
I really want to make a great showing and an excellent first impression. So far, I have had five of my friends read the article and drop me a comment on the post and I would really enjoy it if you did too.

Congrats on the new “job” – but when it’s something you love doing, it’s much less of a job than many 9-5 people work eh?
Good luck with it man, I’m sure you’ll do great!

I would have to say that this is right especially since no one in the real worth takes people like us serious anyways. Everyone always tells me that I don’t work, I am actually playing. I love being able to play on the job.

I beg to differ. I have a job in the field I love and its not much different from working 9-5 at any job. I can image being a professional writer has its up’s and downs like any job.
