I Made $11,000 Last Month How Much Did You Make?

Google is pretty damn cool. Everyone bitches at them about getting banned, smacked around, and treated badly and at times I do feel everyone’s pain. However, I have to say… Google is a class act in my book.

I’ll be honest, I am pretty terrible with money and keeping up with it and such. So anyway a few weeks ago, I got my all of my monthly checks in from the accounts I work with and today (three weeks later) I asked my wife to open all the checks and to give me a total on them.

Three of them are from Google AdSense. There was one Google AdSense check that caught my wife’s attention. It was for $4,265.17. Previously I had told her the totals of what to expect in the upcoming weeks, so she was caught off guard.

When she told me how much the check was for, I actually thought that Google had screwed up. One of the thoughts I had was maybe that mixed up my accounts (We have three separate Google accounts). Another thought was that it was simply an accounting error.

Anyway, I went to log into my accounts with Google and try to figure out why I received a check for over $4000 dollars. It took me a minute and then I saw this:

Well, it appears that I never deposited a check from a few months ago for $2075.53. That check finally expired and Google simply rolled that amount over and added it to my $2189.64 earnings.  Needless to say, it was kinda funny thinking that Google had made an accounting error. As it turned out, it was me that made the accounting error because I never deposited a $2000 dollar check. With that said though, I think it is really cool that a billion dollar company can keep up with my inability to manage money. Google AdSense rocks!

So technically because of this little boost, we have over $11,000 dollars in checks to deposit. Maybe I need to take a minute to stop blogging and get off my ass and go to the bank? So what do you do with the money that you make online? Do you deposit it, do you spend it, do you save it? Or, do you do what I do and say, “nah… I don’t need it and just let the checks expire?” You might wonder why I don’t just set up direct deposit… I don’t know, it’s something about holding the physical check in my hand that gives me more of a rewarding feeling for what I do. Maybe it might be in my best interest to at least get them deposited into the bank.  I’ll try to do better. ;)

Well you must be the man if you have checks that you didn’t even cash lol. I was wondering about setting up different google accounts, as I thought I could only have one. But this would not be very effective for all my niche sites, so I was thinking of setting up another for those. What needs to be done? Just getting another gmail account and tying it to that?

Either way, you da man, and I’m glad you put this out there so some of the naysayers can shut their yaps and see that you do know what you’re talking about. It sucks, this is the only way some will believe….I’ve seen your knowledge first hand, so, it’s no surprise to me!

    Keep it up Garry.

      Hey Joe,

It doesn’t really matter anymore. At one time I wanted to “help the world” and try to give people some good advice, tips and tricks. More people than not get jealous, become an enemy, say nasty things about me or put my sites at risk.

I’m expect our first check this month. No where near that amount, but working towards that direction.

Pretty cool that you can miss $2000. Can you share how many sites or an estimate that it takes to produce that?

    • Garry Conn says:

Glad to hear that you’re getting your first check. Not too worry, things will increase for you over time. With the mission $2k, it would have been better if I paid more attention. ;)

    Hi Garry,
It’s pretty cool getting a Google 4K cheque & a blessing not to miss the cheque in the first place, especially with a new baby to nappy up, well done.
Although I’m surprised you are not using their direct deposit, maybe not as big a deal in the US but In Ireland, I used to have to wait up to an extra 3 weeks just to get the cheque each month and then another 7 days for it to clear.
I switched to their direct deposit a few years back & would never switch back, knowing the day (minus or plus a day or two) that the cash would be available to me makes a big difference.
I just wish a few of the other affiliate companies I work with would offer a similar service, I’ve lost a few of their cheques in the past & it has been a lot harder to get them reissued than you have with Google reissuing them automatically, what a service…
    Google rocks!

I am old school and enjoy having my paychecks sent to me. I very well might change that though soon. I did the same thing for many years with my employer too. I just like having a paycheck, but I guess if I am going to neglect depositing them, I should probably get that set up. ;)

  5. Yeah if you forget to cash a 2k check then you might have a slight money management problem. Maybe you just need one of those nice little money bags that you put all of your checks in and take tot he bank at the same time. They also do direct deposit :) .

  6. Rich Hill says:

Looks to me like Google shorted you $114.11.
I don’t see any numbers there that add up to the amount they charged back.

    You been robbed!

  7. How could you forget to deposit a $2k cheque? :-) Wow!

Big congrats on what you made last month. Amazing! Have you gotten over the shock of it yet?

I guess the only thing stopping someone from achieving such levels is one’s mind.

Anyway, don’t spend it all at once.

    Thanks for the inspiration.

    More power to ya!

  9. Mircea says:

    Congratulations, Garry!
Do you get that from Google only from this site or you have more?
How much traffic should somebody have to get that amount?
In compete.com I see you have for this site around 28,000 visitors monthly (from US only)…double that and I guess you have around 60,000?

    Just curious…

Wow Garry, that money will come in handy with a new baby in the house I’m sure.
I thought this quote was kinda funny:

“…There was one Google AdSense check that caught my wife’s attention.”

I don’t know the frame of reference you are using when you say that, but if a check catches my wife’s attention, it means she is gonna take it from me! Such is my life! LOL

  12. Congrats on the $11,000 total..must feel nice to have those extra checks expiring! :) I use the direct deposit with Google and several other moneymakers online, so I get nice surprises when I see more money in Paypal or my bank account…Keep up the good work here!

Wow, you must be busy cashing out all the checks to forget the 2K… I wonder how many people would have ever forgotten to do so…

Anyway, you mentioned about using three different accounts, is it possible to create two Adsense accounts?
