Internal Link Farm of Relevant Content

with 7 comments

Who said link farms were bad! Ok, it’s true they are terrible for SEO and more importantly, Google SEO. But guess what, that’s a bluff! Googlebots love link farms. It’s like playing Pac-Man. Googlebots eat all the dots and follow all the links. The question is: Where do you link to? And are the links relevant to the content on the current page? If the the links don’t have a logical relevancy, then your site might be headed for disaster. But if you link to content that is relevant to the content on your page, In time, you might start to find more and more  Googlebots sitting at your front door waiting to be fed.

What is an Internal Link Farm of Relevant Content?

Answer: It is just that! I collection of links on your page that link to other pages within your site that have a logical relevancy to the content on that page.

If the current page is about bicycles and you have pages that talk about bicycle tires, bicycle seats, and mountain biking trails… then link em’ up! There is nothing wrong with having a link farm. But, you need to understand the difference between good link farms and bad ones. We all know bad ones are, and for the ones that don’t, go to Google and type in FFA Links page and you will find out.

However, a good link farm is a field of links that point to relevant content on your own page.

For that matter, it is also good to have an external link farm of relevant content… this can also be referred to as a blogroll, links page, or online bookmarks.

  1. [...] Be consistent and create unique and relevant content related to these 5 keyword groups or marketing words. Create at a minimum 1 post per day, or a maximum of 5 per day. Remember your site is new and the pack of Google Bots will not visit often. If you post too often, the pack of Google Bots will miss your newly added content. [...]

  2. [...] Here is a very quick and easy tip that will help you increase the amount of pages Google indexes when a Google Bot visits your site. Interlink your articles together to form a huge internal chain of relevant content within your site. As I have said before in a previous article, the pack of Google Bots can be controlled and taught to do what you expect them to do. Google Bots are not much different than a typical domesticated family dog. You can teach a dog how to sit, roll over, and fetch. Training Google Bots isn’t much more difficult. It all has to do with controlling your links, controlling your content, and teaching the Google Bots where to go and in some cases where not to go. [...]

  3. [...] Basically, what I am saying is don’t have a million external links on your home page, and don’t have a million internal links on your home page either! The total amount of links on your home page should not exceed 100 URLS. If you have a blogroll with 50 sites, you might want to consider creating a page called “blogroll” or “links page” and putting the links there. Doing that reduces your home pages links from 50 down to 1. It is no big deal for people to click into a secondary page to view links. [...]
