John Chow Is Getting Fat!

John Chow is getting fat!

john-chow-01I thumb thru John Chow’s blog every once in awhile.
I admit, his site is not on my regular read list. I don’t
mean any harm in that… I just don’t read his blog
everyday like many others do. However, I do read
and view the pictures enough to know that John
Chow is clearly gaining some weight. On the left,
is a picture of John Chow dated sometime around
April of 2007. You can see his face is very slender
and defined. Very sharp, long and angular.

john-chow-02

john-chow-03Can living the highlife of a famous
blogger take a toll on your health?
It is very clear to me looking at these
two pictures that John Chow has gained
weight. By stature, John is a big guy and
pretty tall. However, you can clearly see
quite a bit of changes in his face. How
much weight has John Chow gained in 2007?
Perhaps, all the fine dining in 2007 is starting to catch up to him
a little bit in 2008? Do you think we’ll start to see less pictures
of John at restaurants and more pictures of him on a treadmill?
The picture above and also directly to the left is a very recent
picture of John Chow that I captured from a recent post on his
blog dated on Jan. 12th, 2008.

Is there a solution to blogger fatness???

Ironically, I was actually done editing this post until a few days
ago when I was contacted by a guy name Israel who runs a very
creative niche blog titled, Fat Man Unleashed. When Israel contacted
me my jaw dropped.

He wanted me to write a post about his new FREE 7 page eBook titled, The
Blogger Proof Mini Workout eBook
.

So there you go Israel, there is your mention, and I must say that you
must not only be a health and fitness nut, but also a mind reader too.
I wonder if John Chow enjoyed reading it? :)

What is Your Opinion, is John Chow Getting Fat?

fat-red-meatWhat are your thoughts? Do you think John is
putting on a few pounds? If you are curious, the
larger picture above shows John Chow about to
chomp down on a nice big juicy steak. The
picture here to the left gives you a close up shot
on what John Chow was about to eat. As we all
know, John is famous for snapping beautiful pictures of cooked
dead carcasses prior to consumption. Can the famous lifestyle of
a pro blogger have similar trends to the famous lifestyle of a
typical musician? Can we consider John Chow as the Elvis of bloggers?
How much weight do you think John Chow has gained in 2007?

You can hide fat on other parts of the body with loose clothing, but a fat face never lies.

LOL… Very true my friend, very true!!

You know, John really is starting to grow on me. I have never really disliked the guy, but more less never really felt any common ground with him. I wrote this article a few days ago prior to publishing tonight. Since that time, I actually have spent quite a bit of time on John’s blog.

I am reading it backwards though. I am reading John Chow’s blog starting from his first post and working my way up. Tonight’s post doesn’t really poke fun at John, yeah… I am sure many people will get a kick out of the article, but the more I think about it, blogging can seriously pose a health issue for many.

I don’t know if you visited within the last week, but I ran a survey and collected quite a bit of useful information from my readers here. A shocking statistic that I would have never guessed: Over 54% of my readers invest 41+ hours per week into their own blogs. That is amazing!

I too fall guilty of not exercising and not eating healthy. In 2007, I didn’t exercise one bit and ate very poorly. With the new year I have changed my eating habits and have started exercising daily. I don’t get outdoors much with it being winter, but my wife and I did purchase a treadmill, stair stepper and both have begun to eat extremely well.

I am terrible about red meat. I love it!!! I have cut back red meat and eat a lot of chicken instead. I have started using ground turkey instead of beef. Unfortunately, I am NOT big on the veggies… I am a huge meat eater and have no means for eating things that are green. I am trying though… I do enjoy a great garden salad.

I haven’t gained any weight as I have an extremely high metabolism, but like I said, I should and have now started eating much better and started exercising daily.

EDIT:

Ha ha!! I just read your revision on your blog:

Garry Conn of, what else, Garry Conn dot Comm chimed in with an addendum to “John Chow Is Getting Fat!”. He’s right about John. He’s turning into a porker before our very eyes.

LOL!!! that is too funny and also thanks for the mention bud! :)

MONEY = FAT. It is as simple as that :)

I lost about 30 pounds because well…I’m broke now lol

If money = fat, then I am going to eat pizza for breakfast, drink a case of beer for lunch, and eat pork rinds for dinner!!!

Show me the money!!! :)

lol

Age is a funny thing… I turn 31 in 3 days and it weird how quickly one day you wake up from feeling like, I am fine to waking up the next day to saying… “wow, no shit… I don’t feel 18 anymore.” lol!!! Granted, 31 isn’t really old… but its pretty wild looking back at pictures from 10 years ago when I was 21. Huge difference… totally huge difference.

I did not notice about this until I read this post of yours.

However, I do notice that John’s blog is now featuring food posts (good food) at least once a week now. Once in a while, we will be reading about him celebrating.

Anyway, it is his money and it is up to his decision on where to spend. I am just 18 and I already have a fat face. Also, I am poor as well. :-P Thus, can I blame genetics?

Thanks Garry, great article. Wondering how JC is going to take this from here..
I hadn’t noticed that he’s getting fatter, if not for this article. I too think that there’s a direct relation with those juicy steaks he used to have earlier. Now, I’m looking for the same phenomenon with other successful bloggers…

@ Wayne,

He must have changed his eating habits. He used to blog about things that I would touch with a 10 foot pole, let alone pay for it. :)
Just give me a freaking hot dog, so I can hurry up and eat and get back to blogging. lol

@ Mani,

Hey hey!!! I already admitted that I am a lazy blogger. I did start to eat better and exercise. You might want to do a before and after on ShoeMoney… :)

@ Israel,

Yes, indeed… but now that you know about it, we need to make sure he gets a copy of your eBook so we can spare him. Early detection is the key and at this stage, John might only need about a month on a treadmill. :)

@ James & Kyle,

What else could it be? Are you considering that he might be “Stuffed” with money instead? :)

This could turn into some good link bait ;) His blog is full of posts about his recent dinners, so obviously he’s going to get fat if he wants to keep his blog updated. I’m not a big fan of John or his blog for reasons I won’t mention here.

It’s nice to see you’re supporting RT. He’s a good guy and does deserve it.

Garry- First, I have no room to talk as I’ve been eating out every single day for the past two months now so I have a little bit of shaving off to do myself. With that being said, do you realize that you just gave John Chow a few more dinners by writing this post?

Okay, actually you’ve only done this if he reads it, posts about it (links to your page) and tries making money off it. I don’t know about you but I’d take this post and find a few affiliate programs and talk about how I plan on losing weight with a few of these programs. I actually plan on hitting my treadmill in about a week and then looking at some healthy alternatives. But not everyone thinks like this. I do know what ya mean though, as people make more money they do seem to eat out a lot more. Talk with ya later. :)

Well thought out, perhaps that is what Israel is banking on. He has the free 7 page eBook for bloggers. I am sure that he is attempting to position himself into the field as being a leader in the Blogger’s Health Industry. The sky really is the limit… I vision landing advertisement deals with health clubs, insurance offers, etc… with blogging continuing to grow and with the whole virtual second life era spawning… its a matter of time before things of this caliper hit off… and yes, agreed… tons of money in this. :)

Link Bait!!! LOL!!!

Just reporting the facts …. :)

Mr. Chow usually is very wise of the good ol’ worm/hook/yank tactics… people try to game off his status every day. You should actually get a Google alert for his name and you’d be entertained for hours a day reading what people write about that guy. I’ll tell you this, John Chow must have some thick skin (no pun intended)… LOL!!!

All in all, John is a very cool guy, I have no problems with him and totally respect him. I think his blog will make a nice edition into the dot Com history books and people will read about this era of the Internet for years on end.

A great way to establish a new habit (like a new diet or exercising) is using the 30 days trial tecnique.

@ John,

Just for the record, if anyone cares, LOL!!! steak is my favorite food. I can eat it for breakfast with some nice runny eggs, I can eat it on a biscuit for lunch and I can eat it for dinner cooked ever so slightly. Yes, I do agree.. for once, John Chow actually took a picture of something that I would enjoy eating. Some of the other stuff tends to scare me a little bit.

@ Alexander,

Tell us more about this 30 day trial. I see that the page is dated back in 2005 and has a pretty decent PageRank.

Sorry Garry,

its a busy period for me, I have not the time to share my personal experience with the 30 day trial now. But trust me, it’s worth to invest 10 minutes to read the post and even some more posts by Steve Pavlina, there is a good reason why the post and the whole blog has such a good ranking: tons of great content.

Hi Garry,

Love the post. When that top picture was taken, I was 185lbs and had 8.5% body fat. I was also working out at the time 3 to 4 times per week and road my bike 40KM everyday. Currently, I’m 204lbs and 13% body fat. I don’t go to the gym nearly as much and have done no riding for over a year. It is part of my New Year’s plan to get back to sub 10% body fat. Maybe I should make a case study of it. :)

@ Alex,

No worries, I’ll check out the page as well as the site soon. I have it bookmarked. :)

@ John,

Wow… you are a total health nut! You know, as we all get older it is a very good idea to exercise. I recently had a check up with my doctor and he was absolutely floored when I told him that I don’t exercise. Since then, my wife and I have purchased a treadmill and a few other smaller pieces of exercise equipment.

I honestly can’t wait until spring when our family will be engaged into more outdoor activities. Winter creates too many tendencies to play on the Wii with the kids rather than go out and throw the ball around.

Drop me a line if you do decide to go live on a study and I’ll be sure to tune in. Thanks for stopping by and I am glad to see that you do realize I was just poking some honest fun with you. We all gain a few pounds here and there! LOL :)

@ Robert,

I hear that red wine is actually good for you. Or is that just purely a myth? I am not really big on eating fish. I have totally cut down on red meats, but I have to say that I really do crave a nice steak dinner. Grrr….

Just wonder if John would ever consider to donate money for a good cause like you’re promoting here. Back in October I tried to solicit money to help a 4 months old baby girl Gratia with a Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) to get a surgery and literally I begged John to carry the story, but nothing happened. Fortunately a cyber friend from Indonesia who was working on his doctorate in Boston saw the story after I contacted him in my way to find out how to contact an affiliate church here in the US, and with the help of this friend, finally we got a congregation from a church in Jakarta to come up with ~US$5000 for the surgery. Baby Gratia is a happy and healthy baby now. You can read the whole story in my postings around October. I’m glad to see the warm responses of the blogger community to RT’s story.

I think the 30 day trial method, i havent read that post yet, has to do with implementing a a never ending series of 30 day trial diets/ workouts from companies that offer them. Some may even offer longer trial periods. The point is to always try them , then quit before you need to pay. This also may help with keeping your body in shock and and not letting it get used to the same routine.

@israel

No, there is NO company behind that method and you have NOT to buy any product. That blog is a personal development blog owned by Steve Pavlina and he is ALL about providing only good, free and a lot of content (exactly as Garry does).

Please before writing false supposition, invest the few minutes to read the post.

The best is to jump around in his blog: his content is almost timeless, so also in the older post there is a lot to learn.

This man changed my life, he had a great influence on my actual way of thinking.

Wow! So much worry about John Chow’s weight. Who should be concerned about that? Why don’t we see all this concern going towards people who are starving? If you’re really concerned about being overweight, suggest giving up a meal and using the money to take a hungry person out to eat.
