John Cow VS Garry Conn in a COWpetition – MMO Case Study Enroll Today!

john-cow-pissed-off

in my last post I called out John Cow’s past practices in the methods of how the site made money online. In the whopping mess of cow patty comments on my last post, somewhere among the smell and mess, the new/old/whatever owner of John Cow dot com challenged me to a COWpetition. He feels that he can bring his A-Game against me in a challenge of making money online.

A few ideas have been tossed around here and there, nothing at this point has been set in stone as to what the competition will be or what the rules will be.

This is what Cow man initially suggested:

“Here is a wager Gary, I will place a bet with you. We put a poll up for a market niche on a neutral place and we both build a blog focused on that niche and see who makes more money in 30 days. We both show exactly the steps we use and the tools we use and expose everything… we have nothing to hide. This could be a lot of fun. It could be a nice little competition and at the same time both of our readers will see what we teach but to practice. The wager… Lets say $500 What you say?”

The problem with that is I think it would be very difficult for myself as well as Cow man to properly authenticate our earnings. A system of some kind would need to be put into place and I can’t speak for Cow man, but I know that I don’t have the available time to invest into creating an arena for us to play on that can properly bound us to the rules with out cheating.

This is what I initially suggested to Cow man:

“Instead of seeing who can make the most money with the blogs, lets invest 30 days into developing, marketing and building the blog and then list them for sale in SitePoint and see who can get the highest successful winning bid on selling it? The person who can sell their niche blog for the highest amount in a NO RESERVE Sitepoint auction wins the game. Both sites will end up selling and the runner up who sells for less, transfers their earnings to the winner of the game.”

So these are the two initial ideas that have been throw into the mix. What do you think? Would you like to make a suggestion on how this contest should be conducted? Drop me a comment and share your thoughts, I am all ears.

Sharpen your butcher knives… place your order… I need to know what cut of steak you like and how you like it cooked.

I am about to serve you John Cow dot Com on a hot platter!

The best part about this COWpetition is that you can witness first hand how I will take the win and teach you a system that you can duplicate yourself in your own MMO dot Com ventures. :)

Thanks for the Digg and Stumble… John Cow dot Com has enough meat to go around for all of us to have a nice meal… the more people who attend my free MMO Classroom Case Study the better. :)

Thanks for enrolling Mark, I’ll see you in class, don’t be late and be sure to bring a pencil and plenty of paper.

Garry, it was cute at first how your are so excited and hopeful of winning but it is a little sad now. Kind of reminds us of a thirsty person wandering in the desert and seeing a mirage that they think is water… only to run up to it and get a mouthful of sand… while the cow sites under the palm tree drinking margaritas.

But wait… we can cheer ourselves up… just repeat to ourselves…

Garry Conn really thinks he can do this!

Bwa hahahahahah.. We can barely spit out the words it is so funny.

Trying to start a site from scratch and then prove its value by selling the site itself is a poor tactic I reckon. Factors like: who has more friends to place bids, the initial catchy-ness of the domain name, the current template and many other subjective involvements would make this an unrecommended choice for deciding a winner. Instead, since the matter in discussion is who actually has the skills to make more money with a newly established website, I think we should stick to following the actual earnings. If the situation requires, you guys can appoint up to three referees with full access to the analytics, adsense or any other required accounts. And everything should be as transparent as possible.
Stumbled and dugg too.

I don’t see how that would be possible. I am not willing to grant full access to my private accounts to anyone let alone for a competition. I know that we had tossed that idea around in instant message earlier this afternoon, but the more I think about it, there is no one I trust to grant access to my accounts. I am not going to speak on behalf of the owner of John Cow dot Com, but I would suspect that he would feel the same way.

I like my idea so far the best. The owner of John Cow dot Com and I have yet to engage into a conversation that will allow us to pan out the details of this competition. I have sent him a direct email about an hour ago. In the mean time, folks definitely have an open channel to discuss some ideas here in the comments.

Also, it is very important to understand that I will be providing a complete LIVE walk-thru of my game play in a free MMO Classroom Case Study. If you haven’t already enrolled, scroll back up and fill out the enrollment form. :)

I won’t be providing documentation live on my blog when the COWpetition begins. Only people enrolled into my class will receive the detailed movements, strategies and tactics of my game play.

This should be interesting. I’m just worried that it’ll only create two new blogs that will just help to over-crowd already occupied niches with bullshit content that’s only designed to get the blog the highest bid at sightpoint…

Then again, should be interesting to see how you go about it!

I like your idea and have enrolled in the class.

Toying with the idea of reporting on this whole thing, my one big problem is that already I am highly in favor of your endeavor and will be wanting to help you in ways that I can….

So….. I guess I am saying you have my whole support. Part of the comp will definitely involve people pulling strings etc etc, but as we ALL know MMO is all about networking so this is just part of the whole thing.

When anyone launches a new site they always need the help of their friends.

I am also interested in finding out who this new cow is…..

Good luck Garry. I’ll be rooting for you to take down the Cow man.

Did you decide on selling the blogs at SitePoint? So the blogs don’t sell entirely for the quality of the design or just the “look and feel”, perhaps you should include the actual earnings each blog made in the package that gets sold in the auction. For example, the winner bigger gets the domain, the website, and the $XX.XX dollars the site earned in the last 30 days. Just an idea.

When does the competition start anyway?

Garry Conn Wrote a Comment:

I spoke with the owner of John Cow dot Com on the phone today… we both will be speaking again on the phone today to finalize things. As much as I love both you and John Cow (Bob), I must say that you may be the winner of this competition. I have seen you post a lot more relevant money making posts with proof to back it up than John Cow has. You’re more educated in your field of work while John Cow’s blog is there for fun (no offense to him). It has only been recently that I see more posts that are on topic on John Cow’s blog.

I don’t know who is the owner of John Cow dot Com… well, actually I do after speaking on the phone with him, but I agreed not to say anything.

For what its worth, I’ll say this… If the current owner is Bob… OMG, I’d have no problem winning this competition. I eat people like Bob for breakfast. However, I have to play this game as if I were playing it against someone like Bill Gates – someone who is very powerful and has a ton of resources at his disposal. In this game, I have to assume that my competitor is very strong and deadly, otherwise I’ll get caught in a trap and ultimately lose the game.

Having that said, when it comes to competition and games that involve war like tactics and strategy, I naturally excel in them. I love mastermind shit and that is the level of game play I bring to the table on this competition. In the past 36 hours now, I have built an entire army, I have built gathered all the materials used to build a fortress, I have assigned generals and sergeants, I have assigned foot soldiers and I even have a spy or two. I have the my whole game play locked and loaded. I have a domain name picked out. I have my sights on a target niche… all in all, I am ready to go!

Let’s get this party started! Let’s play War of Blogs!!! :)

Unlike in the Joshua simulations… my war will have an ending and a crowned winner. :)

and that winner will be CONN!!!

special thanks to Mark S for sending in the above idea kirk yelling khan. LOL!!!! I love it… :)

I am not going to rob the owner from the fame and glory and allow for John Cow dot Com to come out of the closet on this one. That is if the site makes it through the slaughter and wrath of Conn!!!
