Make Money Online by Not Starting A Blog About Making Money Online
I am sure that you have noticed by now that I have kind of done a 180 on this site. Last week I sent out a member’s only email announcing that I will be releasing quite a bit of promotional content. Also too, I am going to be changing up the topic of my content quite a bit.
I’ll still provide make money online tips; however, you’ll get it a little more bluntly, much less frequently and also many of you might not like what I have to say. With that said, here is a really good reason why it is stupid to run a make money online blog:
Top 10 Make Money Online Keywords:
(According to SEO Book Keyword Suggestion Tool)

Top 10 Video Game Keywords:
(According to SEO Book Keyword Suggestion Tool)

There is no traffic in this niche. It’s freaking dead! I tried to play this game. I failed and now I am down. I tried to write in a way that teaches others how to make money online. I tried to grow my subscription numbers to a level that would deliver a great return when I pitched products. (They say you only convert around 1%) I am honestly not cut out for this. It goes against the grain for me.
I don’t see how if you had a choice to make between starting a blog about making money online or starting a blog about video games, why you would choose the topic of making money online? It is a dead topic. There is no traffic and it is a very over-saturated niche topic. One of the best ways to make money online is by NOT starting a make money online blog. Period. Done. Game Over.

Fantastic! I could not agree with you more Garry. It’s time for people to get out of this niche and aspire to much bigger and much better things. The funny thing is, it’s hard to get visitors in the ‘make money online’ niche – so people go out of their way to make their website really fantastic and hold huge contests.
If people put half, or even a quarter as much effort into other sites as they do into the ‘make money online’ niche, a lot of them would already be 6 figure income earners or more without even trying. It’s always been clear cut but people have been blinded, thanks for making it as clear cut as you can make it, with some statistics and some good ol’ opinion. Thanks for the post, it’s something this niche needs to hear over and over again.

If it helps any Garry, I think out of all the make money blogs out there you are probably the nicest and most straight-up guy of the bunch. And if you couldn’t make a go of it then that tells you something right there doesn’t it?
It takes guts to do an about-face with a blog and start over, and don’t I know it from personal experience. So you have my respect for that.
I also want to add that given how many disreputable blogs there are within the “make money” niche, it is probably also the most tainted of all of the topics out there.
Personally I wouldn’t touch it with a ten foot pole. But that of course doesn’t stop some of the more “successful” pro sploggers out there.
I’m saddened to hear the disappointment in your voice, but I’m also hopeful that you will be able to turn things around. I’m sure given your talents you will be more than up to the challenge.
Take care and keep looking up.
Cheers!

Hi Bloke,
Thanks for the comment.
Actually, I am not sad one bit… I am having a hell of a time! Getting things off your chest tends to really lighten life up. I am having more fun than I have had in months. I love my blog’s new look, I am having a blast with writing content on it and I am getting tons done.
I got more done today then I typically do in an entire week. Life is actually looking pretty good not that I have pulled a big thorn out of my side.
I am still me, and people know me for who I am, but make no mistake, my advice and tips will continue to be the same and what I said tonight in this post is no different that what I have been telling people for a long long time. Many people just choose to ignore the truth.

That’s the spirit! The truth is still out there ya know. You just have to look for it. In fact, I think I see it just behind that rock over there … no, it’s further to the left a little, um …

LOL… that’s like asking a fish if it enjoys drinking water.
If anyone applies 5% of the advice I have given them over just shy of two years, then should be making money. The problem is the simple fact that most of everyone who reads my blog is searching for one of these:
… and unfortunately that is the common mistake 99.9% of the people make when then get the bright idea that, “Hey… I want to make money online!”
Why… because they think it is an easy way of getting out of work. This is a hard business people. It takes a lot of trial and error, commitment, support from family and friends and COMMON SENSE.

That probably goes for my niche as well. Considering that I started the “blog about blogging” niche many years ago, there are now literally hundreds if not thousands of them crowding me out.
Hardly a day goes by that I don’t consider getting out, but then along comes another a post that needs to be written. It’s also odd that I just finished writing about online scammers and make money bloggers. But then again I don’t believe in coincidence either.
Interesting.

Hold on a minute… back up, rewind. First off, I troll around your blog quite often and what you say on your blog is your own deal. However, the things you say on my blog can put you into an awkward position REAL QUICK.
You said,
You don’t really think that I believe that do you? Yeah, so just the other day I was eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with Santa Clause and we were talking about how Rudolph needs his light bulb changed and then the tooth fairy hooked us up with a 60 Watt. WTF!!!
On your about me page, you say this:
Here is a screen shot just in case your meds wear off and you decide to change it one day:
You are here not to befriend me. You are here to leech off my traffic and lure any ignorant readership I may have into your Venus fly trap of a blog that broadcasts more garbage than I have diapers filling up in my trash bin.
In a previous comment you said,
So, you wrote a post about yourself then? Telling the world that you created the blogging niche, indeed is a scam within itself.
The great part to that quote is this:
Yet, isn’t it strange how you started reading my blog.
(sorry everyone else reading this… this is a year long story only known by myself, Bloke and one other person.)
At any rate, what you do and say on your own blog is your own deal; however, you can’t come here and spread that funk on my channel. Sorry man, no hard feelings.

Excuse me Garry? Where do you get off on talking like this?. Or maybe I was too quick to compliment you.
I came here with the best of intentions, and I even sent you an invitation to guest write on my blog.
So what’s the beef. Or maybe it was my last post on online scams that set you off.
Yes, I am to my knowledge the first blogger on the topic of blogging. I’ve been doing this gig a lot longer than anyone else I know of. I also know what I’ve written and I certainly don’t need your screenshots to remind me.
I’m not sure what set you off but maybe it’s a little past your bedtime and you’re feeling cranky. In the mean time I don’t take lightly to libel so be careful where your going with this.
Anyhow, why don’t you come over to my blog and we can continue this discussion if you like. Or send me an email if you wish to continue this conversation. I’m available anytime.
I can honestly say that I’m really disappointed with this and I thought you were a nice guy. I suppose I could also troll around your site and dig up some trouble but I don’t usually work that way.
Take care bro and cheers!

LOL, Why would I want to do that? How will that make me money? The only thing I see is that it would help you make money.
Never read it.
I’ll ask my 10yr old son and see what he thinks.
The screen shot wasn’t for your entertainment.
Everyone already knows that I don’t sleep… guess again.
Who would if they just got called out? Be careful??? Along with being the “Original Resource for Blog Tips” I guess you also have access to Trident ballistic missiles, so I better watch out.
I got a better idea, Why don’t you go and do this, you’ll like it better.
What more is there to say. You have run your blog for a full year under my observation claiming to be the “Original This an Original That” well, I guess I am the “Original Person To Call You Out”
Of course you are… I just pissed all in your Wheaties.
I am a very nice guy. I am not very nice to people who pretend to be someone they are not and also lead people to believe that they are an expert in certain things that they are not. Would you trust an auto mechanic to perform open heart surgery on you? No, so then why do trick innocent and ignorant people into believing that you are “the first blogger on the topic of blogging.” If you can look in the mirror and say that to yourself and believe it, then you seriously need to unplug your computer and start sniffing flowers instead of Sharpie vapors.
Take your best shot. and when you read my archives looking for bullets you might even learn a thing or two in the process.

Sigh! I’m really trying to be nice here but you are making it difficult for me.
That was a nice little bit of nonsense there but unfortunately you get no cigar. I’m sorry to have to tell you this but you’re only making a bigger fool of yourself than you already have.
For your information Garry I’ve been blogging for about 7 years now on the topic of blogging. Throughout those years I blogged under a different title but I guess that never occurred to you. Neither have I really tried to make money from blogging. No biggee though and I don’t need to explain myself to you.
I can see you’re quite outspoken on your own blog but why don’t you bring your “funk” over to my neck of woods some time. It might be fun. I’m available most any time, but I warn you that I do sleep so you might have to wait in the queue awhile.
Regarding the libel part, I’ve worked in litigation law and will very much appreciate you removing your defamatory comments before things get out of hand. And … yes, I have also made a screen shot of our conversations just in case.
Clearly my recent post must have hit a little too close to home for you but I can tell you honestly that it wasn’t originally intended for your benefit. Judging from your (over) reaction though maybe it is you who can’t handle the truth. Just wondering.
Anyhow, I can see that we’re going nowhere with this so I’ll bid you adieu. There’s nothing interesting to make me want to hang around here anyway. Carry on with your shiz fit for all I care.
You’ve shown me your true colors. I obviously misjudged you and gave you more credit than you deserve. My bad for that and I duly apologize. Consider the guest blogging invitation rescinded.
Do try to get some sleep though. You might see things more clearly in the morning.
No hard feelings.
Cheers!

There are definitely many more avenues to go into, that are way more profitable if one knows how to monetize. Many want to blog about making money…teaching people how to make money, when they’d be much happier putting all that info into some sort of product to sell and get busy with other niche blogs that draw more traffic!

You mean, you would have preferred to come to my blog and spread your lies without being confronted. Gotcha. Sorry pal, that isn’t happening.
Anyone who comes to my blog and tries to tell my readers that they created the blog about blogging niche is going to get served.
Hmmm… let me see if my AdSense stats have tanked, one sec…… nope! So do you think I really give a shit? Do you REALLY think I care what people think about me? Maybe about certain things, but not about calling out a liar or someone who believes that he created the blog about blogging niche. Get a life, get for real and get a clue.
Ok, as long as you believe it, I guess that’s what counts.
Wouldn’t seem that way… seems like you have more excuses and defensive justifications than my kids if a cookie is missing from the cookie jar.
When people use my comment form to spread their lies then for sure. As far as the “why don’t you…” suggestion, I have already made it clear what I think you should do.
Please…. like I’d really take a number and wait in that line.
Oh that is so cute, usually when my kids get special awards I hang them on my refridgerator.
Oh that is so cute, are you going to send me something to hang on my refridgerator.
How long did it take for you to figure how how to do that? I guess soon you’ll say that you invented the “Prnt Scrn” button too. lol
I never read it, but something tells me that you really want someone to.
and what truth is that. I didn’t invent the niche of blogs about blogging. You still think you did though.
What are you talking about. My objective was complete.
So why do you continue to do it? Leave.
Yeah… you see if I find something that I don’t like, you’re going to know about it. When you come to my blog and attempt to tell my readers that you created the blogging niche, you’re not going to be able to do that without consequence.
Guest blogging… right, so like what makes you think that I would write on your blog. You think I would do it for free? How medicated do they keep you????
Morning time… and I see perfectly fine. Perhaps, one day someone will turn over the rock that you’re buried under and you’ll see the light.

I’m with you on your thinking but you have done a lot of good for me, personally, and I appreciate it. Here’s how:
1) your advice took my Adsense click thru from 3% to 8.7%
2) I found forest parks thru you and he is helping me redesign
3) I purchased OIO publisher thru your link yesterday based on a 3-month old post of yours I bookmarked
4) you gave my site huge exposure for free
5) my wife saw the review and thinks I am a hero
6) I signed up for PepperJam a long time ago thru your link when I saw you write about it in my feed reader
7) the list goes on
so I plan to stick around if for nothing more than the fact that you are an honest and trustworthy source and good friend.

I couldn’t agree with you more, it’s definitely not ‘easy’ to make it in the make money online niche but it’s also not easy to make it in blogging. Many people want the quick results, when it really takes a lot of dedication, research and hours to put together a successful site.

I’ve been using your tips on Adsense to evaluate where the ads are placed on our site and blog. I’ve even been working on a new design for the Blog. I like the SEOMaxd, but I think the Boss would think there were too many ad squares, so I’m working on a tone downed one.

Hi Garry,
I think the make money online niche just gets a ton of exposure because the only people that read it regularly are other bloggers. Sure, some people find it through search engines, but I think most leave as soon as they get there.
Nobody seems to listen to good business advice. I see it everywhere. That advice being find something people are searching for and build a blog about it. Sure, pets, lawns, decorations, etc., and everything else under the sun are boring to most people. But thats the kind of stuff people are buying online. I really like Allyn’s site on life and lawns. THAT is the kind of site that will make a lot of money in the long run! I hope more people figure that out so we can find more valuable blogs worth reading.
Cheers,
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,
Allyn’s blog is really one of my favorite niche blogs. I use it all the time as an example of how to make a niche blog. He puts a lot of blood, sweat, tears… and grass seed into it.
For those who don’t know Allyn or haven’t seen his blog, check out my review of Allyn and his most wonderful blog. Allyn is a really cool guy and one of my favorite bloggers.
