There are many ways to make money online. One way is by taking full advantage of the make money online trading niche. You might be asking yourself, “what is this niche and how can money be made from it online?” Well, if you know me, then you know that I always come in at oblique angles and so the information in this post might not be what you’re expecting to read.

When you think about making money online by trading, I am sure that you may be thinking about day trading, investing into stocks and bonds, and things like that. That isn’t what I am doing to tell you in the post. Instead, I want to show you how you can take full advantage of the popularity and money found within this niche.

The idea is very simple and it could be easily executed assuming that you do everything I suggest in this post. Like everything I do, it all ties into creating a WordPress blog. Why? Well, simple… WordPress is an awesome program! It is easy to install, simple to design, and with a few minor tweaks and a few plugins installed, it becomes very search engine friendly. The idea behind the make money online trading niche is to create a blog that submerges within the niche. You don’t have to become a day trader to make money online trading, all you have to do is create a micro niche blog and seat the blog within.

How Do I Start?

To begin the process, you’re going to need to purchase a very good domain name. Luckily, because we are dealing with such a specific niche topic, finding a domain name shouldn’t be too difficult. Below is a screen shot of domain names that I found available in less than five minutes. You can check to see if these names are still available. Over time I am sure they will get registered. These are all good names, but quite a few are actually an instant investment.

Why Is This Micro Niche So Hot?

Now before I go off and explain more about all this, I want to take a moment and explain to you a few things about why I think this is a hot niche to get your hands in. Again, this isn’t about becoming a day trader or a stock investor. This is about creating a site that caters to people who have their knees deep into this niche.

The first thing I look for when I attack a micro niche is the potential for traffic, the potential for search engine ranking, and the potential to earn a lot of money through monetizing content and or creating content geared towards promoting products and services.

With the Make Money Online Trading niche, all elements add up very nicely. There is a ton of traffic, the competition is somewhat low, there are tons of longtail keywords to target, and most importantly there is a lot of revenue being invested and spent within this niche.

For example, let’s take a look at Google AdWords. As always, I use the Google AdWords Keyword Tool to evaluate the potential earnings I can make by monetizing content using Google AdSense. My findings in this report are very promising. Take a look at this screen shot:

In this screen shot you can see that the search term: make money online trading is a very decent keyword to target. The estimated average CPC is strong, coming in at $9.05, the search count – while it might seem a little low – is perfect for coming in under the radar with a very profitable niche blog. Many times I have said that is it better to gain high rankings for search terms with lower search counts compared to ranking on page two for terms with higher search counts. With that said, looking at how there are matching domain names available for this keyword phrases, and while seeing that AdWords advertisers are eager to pay a lot per click… this all leads me to believe that this is a micro niche topic worth attacking.

The next thing to look for is the actual search result page. In this case, I believe that this result page is weak and a new site can easily be adding into the higher ranks without much effort. It isn’t hard to gain high ranks in Google, but mind you… it does take a little work and a little bit of elbow grease. Also, it never hurts to have some blogger friends who can help out with hooking you up with some backlinks and blog reviews. With that said, let’s take a look at the search result page for the term, make money online trading.

How To Understand The Search Result Page Rankings?

The search result page reveals a lot of information. Unveiling this information is one of the things that I try my best to teach you how to see. The first thing to look at is if Google AdWords advertisers are bidding for position on the page and to see if there is a high volume – or overflow – of advertisers. This can be observed by simply clicking your refresh button. If the ads rotate and change constantly, then there is an overflow of advertisers bidding for position. In this case, there is quite a few advertisers bidding for position.

The reason why I check this is because I believe that if competition is too heavy on the search result page, then Google AdWords advertisers will turn to advertising on related and relevant blogs – the blog that I am suggesting to be created. Part of the reason why I make so much money using Google AdSense is because a large amount of my research goes towards seeking out micro niches that actually need publishers to seat blogs within the niche itself.

The second thing I look for is the SEO strength of the competition on the search result page. To keep things simple – You’ll thank me, because I really feel like most SEO blogs over complicate things – I typically look for a few basic things. The first thing I look for is the domain names. In my experience, I have determined that Google places a little bit of weight with domain name / keyword phrase matching (example: keyword phrase: make money online trading pairs up with www.make-money-online-trading.com). In this case, nothing even comes close.

The third and forth thing I look for is to see if titles and descriptions have matching keywords. In most cases these will always match up, but I have found that top rankings in the search results page are very weak if they don’t have a nice blend of all three elements: Domain Name, Page Title, Description.

The forth thing I look at is the quality of the search page results. Make no mistake, Google wants to deliver quality to their users. So if you – as the blogger / online publisher – can produce better quality than what Google already has ranked on the page, then in time, Google will find your content and eventually you will be rewarded and ranked very well for your publishing efforts. Let’s take a closer look at the results on this page. I will list the first six below and provide you with my remarks on each:

  1. www.perkel.com/daytrade/index.htm – This listing is a very popular and may be hard to take; however, it does hold weakness due to being weak in the ranking attributes.
  2. stocktube.blogspot.com/2009/02/perak-pr-bn-and-gamuda-its-all-about.html – This is a new listing from a blogger using Blogger.com. This post dates on Feb. of 2009. This indicates to me that Google is struggling to find strong content for this page.
  3. stocktube.blogspot.com/2009/03/hail-new-king-najib-great-and-his.html – This is a double listing from the same blog found on the second ranking. Once again, these two spots are easy take over based off the weak SEO, and the fact that Google seems to be struggling with finding content on the Internet.
  4. tradermike.net/2004/06/trading_101_recommended_reading_how_to_make…/ – This listing is very old and out-dated. This page was created on June of 2004. The information found on this page is very likely to be out of date.
  5. www.businessweek.com/1996/15/b3470136.htm – Similar to the above listing, this page is 13 years old, dating back to 1996.
  6. www.amazon.com/Make-Money-Trading-Business-foreword/dp/159280308 – This links to a book being sold on Amazon.com which can easily be deranked simply by doing a better job promoting the book yourself.

Understanding how ranking appear in the search result pages is very important.

This is something that I have tried for a long time to teach people. Needless to say, it is something very hard to teach because observing listings in the search results is something that almost comes second nature to me. To help you gain a better understanding of how rankings appear in the search results, watch this video below:

Now prior to going this far, I always make sure that at a minimum, there is potential to make money using Google AdSense. Google AdSense always is my preliminary metric for pushing forward on a micro niche topic to attack. If I see that money can be made with Google AdSense, then that allows me the clearance to invest more time into research. Consider that a safety net, meaning… if all else fails with my micro niche project, I can always default and resort to using Google AdSense – which in many cases, isn’t a bad thing at all! With that said, it just happens that there are many available income streams available within this niche.

One thing to consider is the fact that people who day trade and invest into stocks and bonds, etc. are knee deep into it, and usually are very obsessive with being good at it. This means that they are willing to invest money. Money gets invested into books, software, various training courses and programs, and even membership sites. All of which have affiliate programs for you to join and profit from.

The idea behind creating a micro niche blog targeting the make money online trading niche is to provide a high quality resource that can help people learn more about making money online trading, and ultimately become good at it. The second idea behind creating a micro niche blog targeting this niche is to produce high quality / useful content for people within the niche. Consequently, the stock market is very abundant in information, news, and opinions – thus making it a perfect topic to blog about due to the fact that there is an endless resource of information available to write about.

To summarize things in this article, the key is to:

  1. Land an excellent domain name that balances SEO with brandability.
  2. Write excellent quality and keyword rich content and monetize it with Google AdSense.
  3. Market and promote affiliate based products that can help people become good at making money online trading.
  4. Rank well in primary as well as longtail keywords in the search result pages of search engines.
  5. Engage the niche and grow readership by creating profiles within all the major social networks.
  6. Create and grow a powerful mailing list using programs such as Aweber so that it gives you an effective way to promote and sell affiliate products that earn you money.
  7. Create an online personality or spokesperson for the blog, a character that people will appeal to and trust. This can either be yourself or a fictitious character.
  8. Become the trusted leader and resource for the make money online trading niche.

There you have it. This is my blueprint model to how you can make money online trading. It wasn’t what you expected, but I know that after reading this, you are probably very pumped and motivated to take this information and to roll with it. Also, keep in mind, this blueprint works for all kinds of micro niche topics.

Take some time to think about topics that may interest you. Research these topics in Google AdWords Keyword Tool and see what kind of money is being paid per click. Also consider how much interest is there with the topic by judging the search count. Additionally, check out the search result pages and observe how strong or weak your competition is. Last, but not least, take a look at domain name availability. If you take your time, and build micro niche sites based off the strengths of most if not all of these attributes, you are sure to find success.

One thing that I failed to cover in this article (it was on my mind to do so, but I forgot) was to provide information on finding affordable freelance writers for hire. Perhaps I can save that one for a rainy day. I have a pretty big resource of writers with diverse level of skill and prices. Obviously the more you pay, the higher quality you get… but also too, as much hype as there is about make money online product scams, the same can be said for over-priced freelance writers who claim to be excellent SEM / Copywriters.

Looks sweet man; I just started my first niche site….picked a slightly more competitive niche with a lower CPC. Though its ranking well for my list of keywords and bringing in a little cash every day now.

My question though I actually use https://adwords.google.com/select/TrafficEstimatorSandbox to see the ‘cpc’ as opposed to https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal which I use for keywords / search numbers.

I noticed the CPC between the two are different any idea why?

Something else about this particular niche (Make Money Online Trading) is that with the stock market way down right now, there will likely be a large influx of new people looking to take advantage of the down market and make investments for when it’s recovering. That large influx of new traders will need knowledge therefore they’ll go to the Internet (i.e. Google) to find it. By pre-positioning now for the market recovery (which we all know it will at some point) with a Make Money Online Trading site you could potentially make some good money.

I would have thought you should use exact match if you are optimising a page for a particular keyword phrase.

Broad matching will overestimate the traffic for a particular keyword phrase.
When I use the google tool and set it to “exact”, the phrase “make money online trading” is only searched for on average 320 times per month.

That is wonderful news. You and I just started talking a little bit via email and instant messenger. I understand that you want to earn money well, and I want to witness your success. Keep in mind though, you have to build a lot of micro niche blogs / sites to see a very nice passive income. I own / maintain close to 500 sites now. Granted, these sites do not require a lot of maintenance once they are built, but much work does go into creating them, researching the keywords and writing the content.

I like to use broad match because it replicates not only exact match but also related terms based off my primary targetable keyword phrase with combinations found in my article content. This isn’t an exact estimate, but I find it to be close.

Great observation though… and indeed you are correct. We are looking at 320 searches for that phrase. Keep in mind though, we need to have widen out our perspective on how much traffic is to be expected from just one micro niche blog. I have close to 500 sites, each site targets an exact keyword phrase. Assuming all the keywords I target have 320 / month, now were looking at 160,000 / month or 5,334 per day.

Having that said, I typically like to convert around 10% so now we’re look at around 500 clicks per day. Lets assume my average CPC is $0.50 / click. With this figure, I am pulling in $250 / day via AdSense. Which to be honest, isn’t very far off from the amount I actually make. :D

Read Paul’s (aka Male Pattern Baldness) and my comment above regarding why I prefer doing broad match. As far as “How I Decide I Can Get On The Front Page of Google?” do watch the video above. I explain in the video that studying the search result page does requre some natural talent / experience. In the video I try my best to explain in detail the things I look for towards trying to rank heavy on the front page.

To further answer your question, yes! At times, I do look deep and study my competitions PageRank, # of backlinks, what kind of backlinks (aka. 10 PR4’s, 25 PR3’s, etc..) and at times, I will investigate the age of the domain. In most cases, I don’t dig that deep unless it is something I feel is very competitive and I want to see how much of my resources it would take to rank. I hope that this helps answer your questions.

Garry, thanks for the info on trading. It is very valid as I do some trading myself. Anyone who is looking to learn the trading business should definately read your info closely. Trading works well for me because by 10:30 am at the latest everyday I am pretty much done. Have all my plays done. There is only so much golf one person can enjoy… but I know many people will disagree! I would rather devote some of that spare time to making more money to be honest with you. — If possible can you give a quick answer for the following 2 questions.
- #1 Can you tell us if the “SSL Security Certificate” would Put Resistance on Traffic to a Web-Site – Niche or Blog being that it has to – Re-Route – the Traffic to & thru a security address – new: https vs the old http ?
- #2 Does using your unused Domain Names to forward traffic to your web-sites help more “PPC Traffic” get to your Niche Site or Web-Site or Blog-Site ?
