In this article I am going to show you how you can make money online simply by watching infomercials late at night. For those who don’t know, an infomercial is an extended television commercial that is dedicated towards the explanation and promotion of a product or service. Commonly informercials are seen late at night. Believe me, I see quite a few. With that said, let’s talk about how you can make money online simply by watching these dreadful and subliminal promotional television commercials.
This is what I call, Sidewinder Attack Marketing. The AIM-9 Sidewinder is a heat seeking missile commonly found on fighter aircraft. Once the missile is released it will seek and destroy its target by tracking heat. I call this form of marketing Sidewinder Attack Marketing simply because it resembles the characteristics of a AIM-9 Sidewinder missile. I have been using this form of marketing over a year, commonly with holiday sales, or following Google Trends and now more recently Twitter Trends (thanks to David.)
With informercials, you have to consider the fact that someone is paying big dollars to advertise this information on television. You also have to consider the fact that infomercials work, otherwise there wouldn’t be any. You also have to consider the fact that once an infomercial broadcasts, there will be a flood of interest created.
With all that said, in my study of infomercials I have made the following observations:
- Most infomercial products do not have a very powerful presence in Google.
- Most people who watch infomercials are not yet convinced to purchase the product on the phone. They turn to the Internet to get more information.
- Most informercials are promoting products commonly found in affiliate advertisement networks such as Pepperjam, ClickBank and especially MarketLeverage.
What does all this mean? Well, if you sit back for a minute you’ll start to see the big picture on Sidewinder Attack Marketing. What we are doing here is simple. We are allowing product owners to invest tons of money into making television commercials that pre-sell and explain the product being sold. From there, we launch our AIM-9 Sidewinder missile and blow them up simply by exploiting the above observations.
When people watch these television commercials, it is now almost second nature to go to Google and research what they just viewed on television. The manufacturer, distributor, or authorized seller of the products showcased on television have a very weak Internet presence. You can easily sneak in for the kill by creating a niche blog using WordPress that promotes the same products being advertised on television. You can easily sell these same products by joining the many different affiliate advertisement networks.
In essence, you are getting free advertisement on television paid by someone else. You are getting instant burst fire rates of traffic. Remember, every time you see that infomercial on the television, you can almost guarantee that there will be a flood of people searching for it on the Internet. Lastly, you have very little competition in the search engines, simply for the fact that these product owners are very rich to buy television advertisement space, but too stupid to consult with an SEO.
One last thing, if you are not a night owl and can’t stay up late at night, simply turn your DVR Recorder or TIVO on to record any one of your local channels such as ABC, CBS, or NBC. Check your TV Guide for local times and if all else fails, just start recording randomly from 2:00 AM to 5:00 AM. You’re bound to catch quite a few infomercials. Also, if you can type fast, all your material will be dictated to you just by listening to the commercial and typing what they say.
Any questions? I didn’t think so… drop me a comment and tell me how awesome this post is and then get to work.

lol… p.s. the Sidewinder Attack Marketing is a joke, I realized that might have flown over a few heads. Good old digital sarcasm. Anyway, write about the products you see on infomercials. Use all the common tools of SEO and write the content optimized for SEM and you’ll more likely see quite a bit of traffic from it and hopefully convert quite a bit of that into sales.

You’re a whiz Garry- I’ve recommended to aspiring entrepreneurs to watch infomercials for product trends but this is even better. You are so right! People definitely search for things based on infomercials. In fact, I saw a tech gadget the other day- could not remember what the name was and just started typing in various terms until I found it. Then of course I bought it! You’re so brilliant.

Doesn’t matter… people in the USA are still awake in the early hours of the morning with their credit card in hand waiting to purchase. It doesn’t matter where you live, as long as your web site appears in Google.

Yes Garry is an evil whiz with a capital G, joke or not it is a niche to be serviced. We bought the Magic Bullet from an infomercial, it broke a short while ago but we got a load of smoothies outta that thing. And like the evil suggested, I did exactly as above. Saw the infomercial went to google and googled the Magic Bullet deicded it would be a good thing and whipped out my credit card.
If someone like me were smart theyd do a top ten informercials post, mini site/blog and start counting the sleeps util their next vacation.

Garry, you have a great talent for thinking outside the box! Just to add to your post, you would be very surprised at how many advertisers on the TV and even Radio or Newspaper lack a Google presence! Sure, they all have websites, but they are not optimized for Google or SEO. Brillant find! I really enjoy your insight!

nice tips the only issue is that to do it you need not to have a job or at least having a job that lets you wake up late in the morning…watching commercials all night long apart from being time consuming is quite tiring! i think this thing is very apt for housewives or unemployed people who want to reiase some extra bucks!

Nice tips, Gary.
Now, you provided a meaningful reason for us to stay up late and watch those time-sapping infomercials.
It is win-win as the product creators will be more than happy to see a bunch of internet marketers getting out there harping their products.
