Make Money Online With Google Insights

Free Web Designs

Google has a new tool that indeed can help you make money online. It is called Google Insights. Using Google Insights can give you insight on which search terms are more popular than others. Additionally, you can find related press releases and web pages information based off your searches such as Pepperjam vs MarketLeverage. For me, I can quickly see how this can help me in my business of search engine marketing.

For me, it’s all about keywords and using Google Insights will tell me if Apple Macbook is more popular than Dell Inspiron and from there I can then use other tools such as Google AdWords Keyword Tool or Micro Niche Finder to find very targetable keywords for the more popular item.

One of the really neat things about Google Insights is if you look at the bottom of the page after doing a search, you will be provided with popular search terms based off your search. You can easily copy these terms and use them for later search engine marketing purposes, such as using them for tags, category names in your blog or even PPC campaign keywords.

Using Google Insights to bring you traffic

Article by Owen Henty from The Linux Blog

On Tuesday, August 5th, 2008 Google rolled out a new tool called Google Insights, which aims to give people an insight into what people are searching for. Now you may be saying or thinking that “Google already has a tool like that, its called Trends” and while Trends is a good tool, it is not the same as Google Insights.

There are a couple of things that I find useful in Google Insights. The first is the search terms. Lets take two search terms “Google and Yahoo“. The first thing you get after running the search is a pretty page. This is nice, but how can you Insights help me make money online? Take a look under the filters and search box you are presented with a nice graph. This graph shows interest over time.

This can provide you with a visual to see what the traffic is compared to another term, thus showing you what interest there is. As we can see from this graph both Google and Yahoo have steady interest, but did you notice that Yahoo has more interest than Google? The ‘trend” from this graph is rather interesting.

Now lets assume we know how many unique visits we get from the term “Google” because we are ranked #1 in the SERP. Over to the right of the page you should see a bar chart with your two search terms “Google” and “Yahoo” Now, if you know the traffic of one, you can estimate what the traffic of the other might be by using your judgment.

The regional interest is of some interest to people marketing online. For example, some one was offering translation services in an SEO forum for a reasonable price. I paid $15 to get three of my best articles translated into Italian, it was kind of a spare of the moment thing. When I type in my search terms in Google Insights you’ll get a regional interest indicator. This can be handy to check out if there are other countries or regions that have more interest for your term.

Should you be using the same sort of advertising methods for this term? Should you be writing or getting articles translated in order to score some international traffic? Thats up to you. The regional interest can be especially useful if you are trying to sell advertising space on your site. Find an area where that search term is hot and see if you can find advertisers in that area. You can even break Insights down by country and city.

Finally for this article there is one more section. The related search terms, some times its just hard to rank for the big terms like “Google”. This is where the Top searches and rising searches come in. You can use these tools to get an idea of what other keywords to go after. The rising searches can also be useful to figure out the next big trend!

So what are you waiting for? Jump over to Google Insights Search and start using it today.

Thanks for the heads up!

Hi Garry,

Thanks a million for the post about Google Insights.

I’ve used Google Trends for some time to get some idea about what’s hot on the Internet. In my opinion, while Google Trends can be useful the here today gone tomorrow short term flash of many of the topics makes it tough to make more than timely posts. I don’t think you want to build a website that focuses on what are usually such short term trends.

To me, after spending the better part of today playing around with Google Insights, I feel I have found a tool that can be quite powerful as you can measure the long term trend of keywords. Using Google Insights along with Micro Niche Finder should make it possible to find dynamite domain names and keywords that can be used to build effective blogs around. Ones that the search engines will love.

I started several new sites today using the Google Insights data for keywords, then used MNF to zero in on keywords for the domain name. http://www.digitalcamerasrated.com/ is one result. I would have never thought of this project without these tools. Google trends also confirmed some very nice keywords for another forex site. Forex is blazing hot and has been getter hotter over the past four years.

At a price of free for Google Insights software tool developers in the keyword search category must be having nightmares. It looks to me that Google has rolled out a really helpful, powerful tool that the gurus would have priced at anywhere from $97 to $497. You know how those guys love to hype and squeeze the max out of crappy products. Google Insights puts anything else I’ve seen to shame.

Thanks again for going public with it. It looks to me that Google Insights and Micro Niche Finder used together are all you need to zero in on some really attractive niches.

Indeed, thanks for the tip, the tool does seem useful. To me, the biggest weakness with tools such as this is that they tend to focus too much on popular queries. They don’t show data for a lot of “long tail” searches easily due to too few searches. Its still fascinating how much data they do expose with this.

I like it….I thought I had caught a whiff of this in Google labs, but didn’t get down and dirty with it. In any event, this a great tool and Google is quickly becoming a fantastic source of research weapons for the SEO Ninja!

Now all we need is something that operates like MNF, or Market Samurai or other tools like them….it’s seems Google has a trend of producing things that are already popular, and either simplifying them or improving them or even both.

They Googliize everything!
