My WordPress Blog is Now Hosted With HostGator.com

Ok! That wasn’t too bad at all. Two days ago I had announced that I was moving my WordPress blog to HostGator.com. That has now been done. I had asked some of my online friends, folks here in the States, quite a few in India and even Australia if they can see my blog on the new server. For the most part, it seems like my domain name is pointing to my new server with HostGator.com, but I am sure that the update hasn’t worked its way all over the Internet yet, so we’ll give it a few more days before I actually kill my old server.

I want to offer a big thanks to the following people from HostGator.com for making my overall experience absolutely amazing. Not only for helping me here on GarryConn.com but for providing me with web hosting services that allows me to make a wonderful profit on the Internet by hosting hundreds of my little niche blogs and sites on dependable web servers.

Special thanks goes out to:

  • Zachary Freeman – for saving my ass when I deleted BloggingQuestions.com.
  • @Chad Bean - for hooking me up with the most amazing freelance writing job on SeoHosting.com and helping determine the hosting plan for GarryConn.com.
  • Brent Oxley - for founding HostGator in your college dorm room at Florida Atlantic University.
  • Chris Zak – for doing an amazing and careful job accessing my former WHM/cPanel account and making the actual transfer of GarryConn.com to HostGator.com
  • and the entire management team - for your hard work providing amazing skill, talent and unbeatable customer and technical service.

If you haven’t made the switch to HostGator.com, I strongly recommend that you do. Once you switch to HostGator.com you’ll see exactly where I am coming from. Web hosting starts as low as $4.95 but I recommend getting their Baby Plan for $9.95 / month. With the Baby Plan, you host as many domain names as you want, get unlimited disk space and get auto WordPress installs. In other words, you can run a ton of niche blogs just like me on one account.

My next post will be on Jan 13th 2009 12:00 AM CST. I want to give the blog two more days to fully transfer across the entire Internet and there may be a bug or two that needs to get worked out.

You may be wondering what I have been doing while I have been away from GarryConn.com. Well I have been hanging out on my @GarryConn Twitter account  a lot and also asking and answering a lot of blogging questions

See you in two days… my next post will be a really good one too. So stay tuned.

P.S. Check out an article that I asked Christine Senter to write for me titled, The Complete History of HostGator.com. She wrote this for me many months ago and it is a killer article that tells the complete story about HostGator.com from past to present. You’ll love it.

Welcome to the land of worry free hosting! I’ve had many sites hosted with Hostgator for almost 3 years now and can honestly say they are the BEST!

I say this as I watched a friend’s blog on Dreamhost get shut down because of bandwidth. It was UGLY and scary.

Thank you very much. For the most part I think everything is all done. We ran into a little snag with comments but it was explained to me that HostGator.com uses a better file security system than the one I had had prior.

They made a quick adjustment and now everything is fine. The blog seems to load faster too, so I am very pleased. It is always slightly stressful when moving your site from one server to another. But this time, I just maintained a care free attitude.

Your friend must have had a ton of traffic coming in to get shut down by DreamHost.com. Which blog was it, I’d like to check it out.

Three years with HostGator.com, wow… that is pretty cool. I was with my former host for right around the same time. Now, I still have to move about 50 little smaller sites off my older server and then finally cancel the account.

I love hostgator. No complaints at all. And support has been super fast when I did need something.

I never tried it yet. I try my blog there at my vacant period.

Glad to hear the move went smoothly, I’m not sure if I checked yesterday or not, but the day before I’m pretty sure I was still unable to access your site. Oh well, it’s working now so all is good I guess. Glad you’re satisfied with the change.

The domain name propagation took longer than I had thought too, but that was not any fault of HostGator.com’s.
