New Wordpress Header

Here is a brand new Wordpress header. You guys asked for it and it was long overdue. The design is very simple. No bells or whistles, just a plain looking nice graphical header. I hope you like it!

I want to explain a few changes going on with the site. I don’t like to leave people in the dark and cause readers to try to figure out my crazy mind and plans. So, here is a brief summary of the things that have been going on.

• Adsense: A few weeks ago I have added Google Adsense to the site. I tested Google Adsense on the site a few months ago and it performed fairly well. I didn’t feel it did well enough to keep online though. However, today delivers a different story. Quite honestly, its a balancing act between keeping a site looking real nice and also trying to score some money. A few weeks ago, I changed my theme (once again!!). I decided to use ProSense. The Prosense theme with a few modifications is a very wonderful theme to use if you want to slightly monetize your blog but also not disturb your readers who either are regular readers or are people who already know about Google Adsense and would be less likely to click on the ads. I have chosen to give Adsense another shot. A few months ago, I wasn’t scoring a lot of search engine traffic. Current to date, the incoming traffic is fairly balanced between direct hits, referral traffic and incoming search engine traffic to the individual posts. I am sorry guys… but I have to capitalize on that a little bit.
• The Posts: Creatively, my posts are geared towards the interest of my regular readers. But also they are carefully titled and written in a way that attracts people direct from the search engines. The things I write about are not changing. My titles and first few sentences within my posts may be written in way that help in gaining more interest within the SERPs.
• Advertisers: Once again, Gavin Mountford locked in on a one month advertisement campaign with me. His 160×600 banner advertisement seems to be doing very well. It seems to always be around the 10th most popular outgoing link on the site. I am very pleased with those results as I am sure Gavin is as well.
• School: Summer is over and school has started up again. I have three kids, two of which are in school. My youngest has a few more years of freedom before school starts for her. My oldest, Savannah, is now in 10th grade. My son has climbed the ladder and is now in 4th grade. I am not going to have as much time to post per week as I had been during the summer. I am estimating that I will be publishing around 3 to 4 posts per week. Maybe a little less… and at times maybe a little more.
• Suggestions: With my time being a little more tight, I don’t want to expend as much time freely writing as opposed to writing about things that you precisely would like to read.
