Google is pretty damn cool. Everyone bitches at them about getting banned, smacked around, and treated badly and at times I do feel everyone’s pain. However, I have to say… Google is a class act in my book.
I’ll be honest, I am pretty terrible with money and keeping up with it and such. So anyway a few weeks ago, I got my all of my monthly checks in from the accounts I work with and today (three weeks later) I asked my wife to open all the checks and to give me a total on them.
Three of them are from Google AdSense. There was one Google AdSense check that caught my wife’s attention. It was for $4,265.17. Previously I had told her the totals of what to expect in the upcoming weeks, so she was caught off guard.
When she told me how much the check was for, I actually thought that Google had screwed up. One of the thoughts I had was maybe that mixed up my accounts (We have three separate Google accounts). Another thought was that it was simply an accounting error.
Anyway, I went to log into my accounts with Google and try to figure out why I received a check for over $4000 dollars. It took me a minute and then I saw this:

Well, it appears that I never deposited a check from a few months ago for $2075.53. That check finally expired and Google simply rolled that amount over and added it to my $2189.64 earnings. Needless to say, it was kinda funny thinking that Google had made an accounting error. As it turned out, it was me that made the accounting error because I never deposited a $2000 dollar check. With that said though, I think it is really cool that a billion dollar company can keep up with my inability to manage money. Google AdSense rocks!
So technically because of this little boost, we have over $11,000 dollars in checks to deposit. Maybe I need to take a minute to stop blogging and get off my ass and go to the bank? So what do you do with the money that you make online? Do you deposit it, do you spend it, do you save it? Or, do you do what I do and say, “nah… I don’t need it and just let the checks expire?” You might wonder why I don’t just set up direct deposit… I don’t know, it’s something about holding the physical check in my hand that gives me more of a rewarding feeling for what I do. Maybe it might be in my best interest to at least get them deposited into the bank. I’ll try to do better.
