Question For You – Do You Want A Series On WordPress Theme Tutorials?
I have kind of been holding out on you guys. If there is one thing that I know equally if not more than I know about making money online is WordPress and specifically in making WordPress themes. I know HTML, CSS and I know enough about PHP to make the world turn with WordPress Themes.
I know that I am the make money online guy and all that jazz; however, a huge part of why I am successful in this venture is because of my design skills. Do you guys want me to start a complete blog post series on WordPress Themes?
What I would like to do is tear apart the Default Theme and pretty much show you everything inside of that. Quite honestly, all my themes even this one you see today evolove from Default. The Default theme is the CORE to all my designs. It is the WordPress theme that comes with WordPress, it is well coded and it’s an amazing shell to work with.
So, I need your opinion. Do you want me to start a blog series (a little WordPress Theme School 101) on teaching you how to make your very own WordPress Themes?
I’ll need a ton of comments and a lot of love if you really want to pull my lazy ass off the sofa to do this. So, if you are interested, please speak your mind. I will need tons of comments and tons of encouragement.
What do you think? Do you want to learn how to make themes?

HA! its about freaking time.
Garry I for one would love it if you did a worpdress theme tutorial.
There arent really all that many “good” wordpress theme tutorials out there, not many that I could I find anyways.
Besides that I like your themes.
Do you edit live, or do you uses something like xampp, or a php editor when doing your designs.
Please dont tell me you’re a propeller head who hard codes off of notepad. That would be just a little too scarry garry
Oooooh I have a better reason for you to do a wordpress theme tutorial.
See garry if you do a wordpress theme tutorial, then I will have to stop bugging you to do one and as an added bonus and one time offer, I wont be asking you fix my broken stuff or how to insert stuff in wordpress.
No there’s a bargain you JUST CANT REFUSE !!!
What in the hell in this world is a propeller head????
OMG I have been called so many things… but I can only imagine what a propeller head is?? Does this have to do what airplanes and my aviation blogs?
Need I NOT ask… because I am sure that you’ll be eager to tell. LOL!!! Dreadfully I’ll have to wait a few hours for an answer as I am about to turn in for a few hours of sleep.
You know… if I do teach this stuff I am going to lose out on a lot of money as I have quite a few people who actually pay me for doing this stuff.
Nevermind… Propeller Head: a geek or computer nerd.

Urban Dictionary… second best thing on the Internet aside from Google.
What do you think that my answer would be ? LOL
I would suggest that you make that series so everybody can ask explanations in the comments and at the end you turn everything into an ebook to be sold or as gift to whom you want.

P.S: your site has been for me unreachable for several hours, but now as you can see
it seems up again.
I can build an HTML site no problem. However, I’d love to see a tutorial on CSS. I’ve read a few, but they’re all written in a way that makes it almost impossible for a regular person to understand.
A CSS tutorial written in plain English would be awesome.
A WordPress tutorial would be great …. I could use it in the classroom …. perhaps even get the kids to try their luck ….
Small Potato (formerly wpdesigner.com) did one but I reckon your style approach woud be up my street!
Thanks Garry!
Hey Garry, I think a Wordpress tutorial series would be a great idea. I had actually thought about doing one a few days ago, since I just recently finished up my Google Webmaster Tools series.
Although, depending on how in-depth you plan to make it, the series could turn into a huge project.
I know I could do a lot more with my blog if I understood more about its basic components. I’d be very interested in such a series, buddy.
I guess you should even though I already know how to make em.
Give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day, teach him how to fish and he’ll never go hungry.
I think that you said it best — you are an IM/MMO guy. Given that, I’d be interested in a twist — a WP Theme tutorial about how to make themes that MMO. You can still hit all the tech stuff, but why you do what you do is even more interesting than how, IMHO.
Regards,
Mark
Oh wow nice debate has begun
I am interested in web design any way i need a tutorial on Flash.
[...] in the business of buying high quality domain names (times x 2) he offered an idea of doing a nice MMO twist to the whole WordPress theme [...]
Yes please! You know I’d love to learn this stuff, as I am sure many others would. And, You could, as someone else said, turn it into an ebook. Also like Mark Mason said, your twist on things would not be only how to do it, but, why do to certain things as it relates to MMO.
This could be huge! I’m ready!
Yes! Yes! and Yes!
I would love to learn how to tweak and or create WP themes. I looked into it briefly a few months ago, as i think its an in-demand skill, and pays decently.
There is a theme i use on my father-in-laws restaurant, called Woodpress. Which in the back end admin area is quite simple, only has like 6 files or so. I’m thinking “hey i can do that”, well i would like to. I want to learn how to make a simple one like that one.
The theme (im referring to) is on this site:

I vote a resounding: YES!
Missy.
I am a relatively new reader and really do like your information. I would love to learn how to create or edit themes so please go for it. My wife says she wants to learn. My kids say they want to learn and my cat, “Brewtus” is pretty pumped about it, too.
I’ve got my own methods for creating Wordpress themes, partly by trial and error, but also by following other tutorials. It would be great to have a tutorial from yourself – a fresh perspective is always useful. I’ve only ever used the Default theme as a basis for a template once (I create them from scratch nowadays) and I fear I might be missing some tricks.
