RadioBlogTalk – Broadcast #2 | Talking about Commenting, Link Love, Making Money, ScratchBack.Com
Ok guys! Here is RadioBlogTalk Broadcast #2! This show is so much fun to do! David and I have quite a bit to talk about this week. We talk about commenting on other blogs and touch on the level of quality of the comments being left on blog posts. We talk about making money online and talk about how finding business partners can help you grow your online business. We talk about ScratchBack.com and their new program that will help you make money without getting slammed by Google and last we just talk about some other topics on our mind related to blogging and things going on in the blogosphere.
I look forward to you listening to the show and would love to gather feedback about it. Also, if there is anything you want David and I to talk about next week, now is the time to let us know. Drop a comment below and let us know what you would like to hear next week and we might talk about it.
If we end up using your question, suggestion and or material, we will mention your blog and your name on the air and that will get you more traffic! Who doesn’t want traffic? That is like telling your grandmother you don’t want any homemade cookies!

P.S. We’re such newbies with YouTube. Our broadcast is only about 12 megs in file size but the airtime is over 20 minutes and I guess YouTube doesn’t allow for that. I had to temporarily broadcast the show on Google Video. Not too worry folks, in the next day or so we’ll crop this puppy down a little bit and get the uploaded to our YouTube Channel! In the mean time, sit back and enjoy the show hosted in Google Video.

Cool show guys, just listened, and thanks for talking about ScratchBack!
I’m trying to figure out how to fix your dark background issue, I swear. But we’re really behind in custom widget designs and customer service requests… However, it’s on our list, believe me!

I am writing this comment as I listen to your radio show and I’d like to say that I totally agree about leaving comments that say something, rather than just leaving a quick “nice post” type thing. I’m much more apt to visit a blog of someone who leaves an impressive comment.
@ Dave-Garry has a bad habit of dragging some of us into the limelight whether we like it or not. LOL
I’m already a subscriber with the show on YouTube, so I’ll be listening in a lot more often. So, no more bitch sessions, boys. LOL
If you want an example of low quality comments post after post after post got to Jhon Chow’s site. Every one of his posts has 50 to 100 comments most of which are so obviously left for one reason: to get the commentor’s name on the blog.
I just added ScratchBack to my site as well. Now Im looking for any tips to get folks to buy these links for my site that averages 150-200 daily visitors. I will continue to listen to you Radio Shows, so any updates on this service that you all run across please feel free to talk about.
Yes, nice and informative posts guys.
Lol, only joking with the short post
… sounded funny in my mind at least.
Garry I haven’t found any posts of yours about article and PR submission. I would love to get your take on that and if you practice it regularly, which submission services do you use? I have used ezinearticles in the past with relative success. I have also used prweb.
Another topic you might be interested in talking about on your radioshow is the recent sellout of LLLL.coms. All the LLLL.coms are now officially gone including the weird ones like QZXW.com or whatnot. I think that’s a major move in the domain market. Just think back at when all the LLL.coms sold out… now you can’t get an LLL.com under 10k. I am predicting the CVCV ( aka letter vowel letter vowel ).coms do reach the 10k mark in value within the next year. Currently generic ones sell for around 2k. There are about 457,000 possible LLLL.com combinations and all got sold, so what’s next? the LLLLL.coms? There are 16 million of those
.
I really enjoy listening to radioblogtalk:)
I have a suggestion that makes it more “listenable” because there are bound to be parts of the show people find interesting and parts they would rather skip. If you outlined the topics very briefly and how far in they start and stop in writing beneath the post it means we can move straight to the parts we want to hear.
Adding a summary containing links to the blogs/sites you mention would also be handy.
Keep up the great show
I think there is a summary to the blogs/sites they mention, it’s right under the post
Upon first glance, I think the reason why ScratchBack may be successful (as compared to BlogRush – blah!) is that it’s a win/win for blogger and link buyer. There’s an element of competition between link buyers, which I think makes for a more fair environment. You can’t cheat the system (as far as I can tell) because if you’re bumped off the list, you have to pay to get back on it. And if you really want to be on the list, then you pay again, which is good, of course, for the blogger owning the widget.
Garry, you mentioned in your video that you don’t care much about the “buy me a beer” plugin. Neither do I. First of all, I don’t like beer.
Second, I didn’t feel comfortable asking for handouts. But for someone like me who uses the SB widget, that discomfort is gone because of what I mentioned above.
haha, oh I am not having a good day. I posted this twice here but neither time did it show up. Sooo, I wanted to say I love the summary Garry, it gives those of us that have a busy morning some knowledge of what’ll be on the video and whether we’ll watch it or not. Of course I will but couldn’t this morning.
Someone asked how they should promote Scratchback, I’d definitely announce it on your blog. Otherwise you’ll have your readers looking at something and wondering what they heck it is. I plan on doing my announcement today.
Blogrush (gee I keep typing blugrush) I just put on my site, will probably take it down after a week if it doesn’t show improvement on my blog. So far no hits from it.
Question:
You started a blogspot blog before and you really haven’t done much with it. my question is can ya teach those of us more on making money with blogspot?
I thought I would share a little behind the scenes with everyone. After we record the show, I edit the audio while Garry works on some graphics. He sends me graphics and I edit the Video portion into the audio. Yesterday was a bad day, it was not going well, just a bad day. Late in the evening I was talking on the phone to someone else while walking across my deck with a cup of coffee. I stepped off the deck to check on my dogs. I tripped and fractured my big toe. I knew it was broke immediately, but I also knew not much anyone could do, so I would wait and see how it was the next morning. Well, I go to bed, and wake up at 11:30pm in extreme pain, so I get on the computer and start talking with Garry on IM. When I told him about my toe, this is the actual, uncut Chat….
LOL!!!
11:56 PM Garry – Toes are overrated…. just go to the kitchen and cut it off… the main purpose of the big toe is to maintain balance or for thumb transplants…you’re not balanced anyway…and you still have your thumbs… so… hack it off
11:57 PM Garry – Oh man… where did you go? You didn’t go to the kitchen to chop your toe off did you?
11:58 PM CyberCoder: ok, I am back, cutting off toe was not so bad….
11:59 PM Garry: did you eat it?
No Garry, he’s thrown it in a manilla envelope and mailed it off to your house. Merry Christmas a little early
Lol,
That toe story cracked me up.
I have never broken a bone in my body touch wood, I did twist ankles and stuff playing football though. Painful as heck, but probably not as bad as breaking a toe or bone.
hahahah, I loved it, thanks for sharing. Course now I’ll dream about losing toes tonight.
Ya’ll sound funny, could only imagine being one of your wives and reading what ya’ll write.
Yeah, that Toe story was funny for me too, until I had to have a full cast put on today for 2 weeks.
I should have cut it off like he said !
On the bright side I did make the SERPs (at least Top 100) with it Broken Toe Serps from my personal blog.
@David: I recommend sticking with Garry’s blogging tips and not the medical kind.
David, thanks for the “shout out” on the radio show. Hey…I’d love to be on it some day
I really appreciate all the input from both you and Garry. You guys are true gentlemen.
Hey guys,
Thanks for so many comments! I am glad everyone enjoyed the show.
Remember, if there is a certain topic that you would like David and I to cover on a future show, just drop me a suggestion here in the comments.
@ David….
All this for a broken toe? Man, who is your doctor? I would hate to see what he would do if you broke your entire foot. If that happened, I guess we all could call you the MummyCoder.
All that for a broken toe? I’m thinking this is a gag;)
-Mike, no GAG, I promise. That picture is not me, but I will try to get one today. The big toe is used a lot more than you think, and I have a spiral fracture which could make the bone fall apart if I move it. The muscles controlling the big toe run up the leg, so they have to immobilize the whole leg.
Dude! You’ve got more time now to help me with our new project
Just kidding
Take care bro!
Another question: Have you heard of cash parking and if you have what’s your take on it?
Hi, Garry! Haha! Thanks for the nice compliment, and I stand by my word that you’re a cutie!
Thanks also for the mention of BlogsWeLuv! I am so happy to have you there.
I hope you’re having a great night!
No joke.
I broke 4 of my toes, and I had a plastercast on too.
I broke all 4 of my toes exept for my big toe…
- I fell off a park ladder.
No joke.
If your toe is injurded enough, then you’ll get something important done immedantly.
I’ve still got the cast on, I’m having it on for 2 months.
I only got it 3 weeks ago.
I have to use crutches too, and not weight bare. :S
IT’S lame haha
