Can Google SEO and Social Bookmarking Coexist?

Written by Garry Conn on May 8th, 2008 | 20 Comments
Jeremy Schoemaker touched on a topic recently that kind of makes sense to me. In his post titled, SEO Has No Future, he proceeds to tell his readers that there is no future in the strategy of optimizing your blog or web site for search engines. He explains his thoughts by saying, "From my experiences I am seeing Google SERPS results strongly influenced by Google Toolbar data, Google User history, and Google Analytics data. Googles combination of SEO and social voting via toolbar/history/analytics will continue to sway more in the realm of social voting. I feel this technology will only ... Why Is It Always Google’s Fault?

Written by Garry Conn on April 8th, 2008 | 15 Comments
I read a blog post today where some guy was pissed off because he had a page that ranked well for a desired search term for a given period of time and then suddenly it didn't rank well anymore. This individual then publicly blamed Google for making a mistake. "My page is indexed, but does not appear in under any search term. I didn't pay for any links and I didn't do any spamming!" Obviously this publisher feels like he has done no wrong and hasn't broken any of the rules. And that may be true. But here is the thing... ... Continue reading Why Is It Always Google’s Fault?

So many bloggers are concerned with how well their blog and posts rank in the search engines. Time and time again, I get questions sent to me via email and instant message asking the same thing. "Garry, can you please take a look at my blog and tell me if it is search engine friendly?" or, "Garry, how come my blog doesn't rank for the keywords I want?" or, "Garry, where do I start with learning more about search engine optimization?" With the obvious demand for a better understanding of search engines, how to rank in them and how to market ... Continue reading A Simple Search Engine Checklist For Bloggers

The Ultimate SEO Trick Is Simple… Don’t Trick Search Engines

Written by Garry Conn on February 21st, 2008 | 17 Comments
People spend too much damn time trying to tweak, manipulate and trick search engine systems when it is clearly not needed. These same people also spend too much time spreading their propaganda throughout the Internet, which then leads other bloggers into doing the same stupid and shady things on their blog. There are many times when I read posts from other blogs that cause me to bite my tongue. Most SEO, "Know It All", idiot box bloggers are pretty ignorant, stubborn, set in their ways and really don't know a damn thing about search engine optimization, nor are they effective with ... How Hard Do You Work To Make Your Blog Perfect?

Written by Garry Conn on February 14th, 2008 | 8 Comments
I had a really good talk today with my good friend David Cooley. We have both been pretty busy, so understandably it has been awhile since we have touched base and had a good discussion. David and I share a lot of common interests as well as personal life situations. Both and I have a lot in common and achieve the same goals but in many cases go about it differently. (ie. 2+8 = 10 and 4+6= 10) Anyway we had a great talk and discussed quite a few things, one of which being the update on GCDC and how I ... Written by Garry Conn on February 11th, 2008 | 6 Comments
Have you often wondered why your blog doesn't get the visibility in the search engines that other blogs might get? Perhaps maybe the opposite is wondered too? Maybe your blog does get tons of traffic from search engines and you're skeptical to make changes in fear that you'll lose this wonderful gift. I was in the same boat too... many sites were hit or miss and still ... Continue reading Does your blog have great search engine visibility?

The Googlebot Will Take The Path of Least Resistance

Written by Garry Conn on January 29th, 2008 | 8 Comments
If you think about the theory of electricity and consider how electricity will take the path of least resistance, you can use that as a visual example of how Googlebot as well as most web crawlers will crawl your pages, especially your home page. The above are screen shots of three random blogs of mine that I pulled from thought. The Airplane Blog, How Do I Make Money Online and Best Deals Online. [click the images to view sites] These three blogs are total examples of how I have placed huge design efforts towards building a really quick path to GROUND ZERO ...
