Are you a blogger who wants to increase or gain popularity? Do you want more people to visit and read your blog? How do I do it? How can I get more traffic? How do I get more people to visit my blog? I am not going to lie and tell you that its easy. But, on the same token I am not going to say its difficult either. It all depends on how you look and go about things. I personally don’t feel gaining popularity and traffic is difficult; however, many do… and that is why I have wrote this article: I want to help you grow and expand your blog. This article can be filed as my 11th Successful Blogging Tip.

Google, by far is the leading element that can give you the most traffic. You need traffic in order to even have a chance at gaining popularity. Its rather simple. If you don’t have people visiting your blog, you can’t be judged upon a first impression. No one knows about you or your site. Understand that Google can send you the most traffic, a lot of blogs don’t get much traffic from Google. For whatever the reasons are, I am not going to go into details here, a lot of people don’t experience the joys of having Google slam your blog with countess amount of hits.

For those of don’t get Google traffic, there is Technorati. And actually, Technorati is useful for everyone. It’s just that people who don’t get Google traffic need to find a channel to get some kind of traffic, and Technorati can supply that pretty easily. I really enjoy using Technorati. In less than 6 months, I have gone from being a nobody to one of the more popular blogs listed in Technorati. My name and blog is currently ranked 38 in their Top 100 Most Favorited Blogs.

Your Wordpress Dashboard has a section called, “Latest Activity“. The source that tracks this activity is Technorati.

latestactivity

Clicking the More >> link will deliver you straight to Technorati’s search results page that shows you all the different blogs that have mentioned your blog in theirs.

I enjoy using Technorati for a few reasons:

  • I get a lot of traffic from people who use Technorati to search for things that they want to read.
  • I can snoop and find out what people think, say, feel and publish about me or my site on their blogs.
  • I can see first hand which blogs are giving me incoming traffic.

If you haven’t registered in Technorati, I strongly recommend you do so. It can take months and even up to a year to really start getting traffic from Google. If it is important to you to increase your traffic and increase your popularity, sometimes you just have to go out there and get the traffic yourself. Technorati is a source for scoring some easy traffic.

Which you’re visiting Technorati, please take a moment to add my blog to your Technorati Favorites. This will help me continue to climb the popularity ladder.

Technorati Ranking Tips

April 2nd, 2007 by Garry Conn | 2 Comments

Having an excellent ranking in Technorati is very important if you are wanting to monitize your site using programs such as Text-Link-Ads or ReviewMe. If your site doesn’t have a good Technorati Ranking, you could find it difficult to get your site approved. Here are a few tips that will help you get a good Technorati Ranking in a very short period of time.

Technorati Ranking Explained

Technorati displays four count-related numbers. Here’s what they mean:

  • Rank: the number of blogs, plus one, that have more than the same number of blogs linking to them.
  • Links: the number of links pointing at this URL in the last 180 days.
  • Blogs: the number of distinct blogs pointing at this URL in the last 180 days.
  • Total Links: the total number of links found pointing at this blog, ever.

Source: Technorati - Making Sense of Link Counts

As you can see, the Technorati Ranking is totally based off the number of links that point back to your blog. Your rank puts you into a class of blogs that have the same number of links pointing back to their sites as you do. So if your rank is 10,000. That means that there are 10,000 other blogs that are being tracked that have the same amount of links that point back to their site as you do.

There isn’t much science to improving your Technorati Rank. The main goal is simple:

  • Get tons blogs to link back to your blog.
  • Add your link to many individual pages in a blog.

How Do I Improve My Technorati Rank?

Simple. Contact as many blog authors as you can. Set a goal and email 10 blog authors per day. Request to do a blogroll exchange. Most authors will respond back very quickly and accept. When the author accepts your blogroll exchange offer, start being active on the site. Comment on the posts on a regular basis. Every time you leave a comment, you also leave a link back to your site. Technorati keeps a record of this. Technorati keeps a tab on how many blogs link back to your blog, and also they keep track of how many links total are linked back to your blog. Technorati keeps track of these numbers within the last 180 days and they also keep track of the total number of links back to your blog for all time.

Improving your Technorati Rank is very easy to do. If you are trying to build up your site and eventually attempt to make money online through your blog, improving your Technorati Rank is the first thing you should do. It is one of the most important factors when monitizing your site, and consequently it is one of the easiest things to improve.
