Technorati Top 10K
So what does it feel like to be in the Technorati Top 10K club? It seems that there are two of my blog friends that have reached some milestones, one of which has made Technorati Top 10K status! Congrats goes out to Christine Senter from ChristineSenter.com and Mark from MeandMyDrum.com.
While Christine hasn’t made it to the Technorati Top 10K yet. Her blog has grown a lot and I want to recognize that.
Mark did make it to the Technorati Top 10K. So, special congrats to him.
I have to admit, I don’t really focus too much on Technorati anymore. At one point in time Garry Conn dot Com was in their Top 2K club and I never saw any traffic to speak of from it. In my opinion, having a high Technorati Ranking is more of a badge or added flare you can have for your blog. Such as that when your ReviewMe.com badge shows $250 for a review.
Even still, to get the Technorati Top 10K club, you have to have links pointing to your blog and post pages. This can be done only one way, your readers actually have to like what you write and they have to voluntarily link to your stuff. If you don’t have that, then you don’t have authority and without authority, your site will never make it to the Technorati Top 10K. Congrats guys!

My experiences mimic yours, I never received much traffic due to Technorati, but I quit putting Technorati tags in post a long time ago.
One thing that has changed is that the new Wordpress Tags will be picked up automatically from Technorati since Technorati sees any tag with rel=”tag”. So you can get the benefit without any additional work, and I always like that.

Thanks Garry.
I understand that for most people, this really doesn’t mean much, but for me it was way cool. It tells me that I’m doing something right, and to keep on, keeping on.
Congrats to Mark on his well deserved 10K position. I’m so proud of you, big guy.

Congrats Christine!! Doesn’t it feel great to see your blog mentioned in that spot on technorati that says hey someone is chatting about your blog?
I still check mine every morning. For a few months I had that under 10K thing, but when Technorati changed everything something happened and it hurt a lot.

Thanks so much for the spotlight, Garry! And thanks/congratulations to you too, Christine.
@David
That’s good to know about WP and tags. Looks like I can stop adding those to my posts now as I’m trying to add tags using the built-in functionality WP uses.

-Mark, I just wanted to link to the source on Technorati, it also says that Technorati is supposed to use the Wordpress categories, but I think the Tags are better suited for this.
With the new WP tags you can really do all kinds of things, even create different types of tag clouds, or point the tags to other systems, or both.

Thanks for that, David!

Congratulations, Mark and Christine!
I’m getting pretty darn close to the 5K mark, but just can’t quite seem to get there.

I had my Technorati rank up to about 30k at one point earlier in the year, but I’d not looked at Technorati in months till now - I’m now around 80k.
I’ve never noticed much traffic from that source, is it worth pursuing? I guess there’s not that much to do now Wordpress tags are used.

It’s good to see folks rising on Technorati.
I’m not such a big fan of Technorati because of the term “authority.”
Who are they to judge my authority in my niche? My blog is about grass and lawncare and there just ain’t many of them out there so links in my niche are not prevalent.
just a rant here I guess.
Anyway, great to see others moving up in the ranks! COngrats!

You know… anything that holds our sites to a certain rank or metric are always fun to try to climb the ladder. Mark, you wrote a post about Alexa ranking system that I thought was real good and is producing a great reaction in your comments.

I wish I was high in technorati. I’m still working on in for my blog http://imakemoneyhoney.blogspot.com
I’ve heard of technorati exchanges. Are they useful?
