The Best Placement For Google Adsense
Google Adsense Tips, Make Money Online
Do you know where to place your Google Ads? Do you know where the best placement is for your Google Adsense ads? Google says to place your ads above the top fold.
According to Google, Adsense code that appears above the top fold of a page pay the best:
…ad placements above the fold tend to perform better than those below the fold.
- Source: Adsense Help Center
Placing your ads on the top fold of a page isn’t the only consideration in making sure you get the most most for your clicks. Google has made this heat map that pretty much paints a picture and tells you where to place your ads for the best performance.

If you notice, the hot spot to place ads is top fold and center. This is directly above your main content. In this example you could use a 336×280 which I also hear is the highest paying Adsense size to have on your site.

Isn’t this from the Adsense Tutorial page?

No mystery there alex, did you miss the block quote?
I recommend that all bloggers read all the tutorials Google provides. You would be amazed to discover the number of people who don’t read these tutorials. Google unlocks a lot of the mysteries and its all there in their tutorials, articles and documents.

I generally prefer placing it below the post heading . Works well for me .

I think you’re right. I’ve been monitoring on MyBlogLog which ads are actually clicked and 90%+ are the ones above the fold and meshed into the content.
I do recommend wrapping it with your text though, as it improves the look rather than placing the ads above the content.

Is there a way to wrap your text with the ads when you are using a Blogger template?

I usually place them on the sidebar because of the way the themes i used are designed, header cant support the ads =/ but i do see the logic

as for me, the best place is right below the header and i put the leaderboard size there..(”,)

I guess it may pay the most but for me, as a visitor, that is the most annoying place for an advert - I hate a huge ad on the top of every post. I make sure I don’t click on any (my little protest). To me that is really poor page design.
