The Best Way To Make Money Online Is To Just Do It

I received an email today from a reader of my blog named, Tony Sheppard. He did not leave me a URL in the email so I can’t provide you with a link to his blog or site. Tony seems to be a very motivated and determinded person with the desire to push forward with making money online. My advice to Tony is the same advice I will give to anyone who is thinking about getting started with blogging or starting an online business.

You’ve got to build. Don’t overthink things. There is nothing wrong with thinking about things, but while you think, you might as well start building. Here is a copy of Tony’s Email that he sent to me. In the email you will see that Tony has a lot of wonderful topics that he has a lot of experience with.

Hi Gary,

Yes, I do have a question, or sort of a general inquiry. I’m a very green newbie to internet marketing, but not new to the overall e-commerce internet phenom. as I’ve been using the internet since ‘96, ‘97 or so. I’m also reading/learning as much as I can about IM from various sources, but try to avoid the make-millions-in-your-first-week “gurus”. I realize now it takes a lot of research, testing, tweaking, and refinement to start making a good income through IM. I don’t know if they’re your competition or not, but I recently joined
Wealthy Affiliate as they seem to have a lot of resources in place all in one site, and also appear to be upfront and honest with their info, as do you, Gary. But, sometimes it feels they have too many resources and too many directions to pursue to the point of being overwhelming, though a couple of methods, Bum Marketing and the “Conduit
Method” do seem very promising avenues. I’m still researching them. Question : given all that, what might you be able to provide that I couldn’t get from WA ? I’m sure you go far more in-depth in how to monetize blogs, and I’m wondering if you might be able to help me in streamlining my efforts to better focus on what “really works” ? Because of my family’s financial situation ( not good ! ) I would like to pursue anything which has the best potential
for fast-tracking some income, even if it starts at only $100/$200 per month per blog and/or site, but with scalability to duplicate that modest income through creating/developing many more sites. I don’t know if it’s too tall an order, but if possible would like to see that kind of income the first few weeks or one month after “launch”. Is that possible ?
Brief bio : I’m a professional massage therapist with 20 years in the biz, and was also a massage instructor as well as Program Director for a professional-level massage training program. Wrote lots of instructional material for the students as well as corporate/dept
kinds of communication. That’s definitely a niche I’d like to develop if it can be decently monetized.
I also ( along with my wife ) own a vending service which we’ve had the last 5 years.
Mainly stocking and servicing full-sized vending beverage and snack machines. I’ve learned a lot about the biz over that time . Another profitable niche, perhaps.
Lastly, we own two ( pretty cute, IMHO ) Bassett Hounds. They’re pretty photogenic, again
IMHO. Would love to find a way to make some $$$ off them for all the years they’ve been pampered and spoiled ! A pet industry niche might be the ticket here.

Anyway, forgive my longwindedness here as I don’t mean to take up a lot of your time,
but would appreciate any feedback/guidance you might care to offer about any or all of the
above.

Thanks, Gary.

Sincerely,

Tony Sheppard

Ultimately, my advice to Tony as well as to others is if you want to make money online, you simply need to get started and just do it. You can’t make money online if you over think things and fail to start building sites.

I definetely agree, procrastination does not get very far. The way I look at it If you want to make money online you need to start making the goal a reality.

I agree Garry, just get out and do it. i actually have 5 sites that I started back 18 months ago when i first started getting serious and have since found out that those niches just have no traffic and no money. But that is fine because I can use those sites to pass high PR links to my sites that have been better crafted and planned.

IOW–whatever you build online will give you some return eventually.

I don’t really know how that Wealthy Affiliate works, but I think some new guys get way overwhelmed in all the hype of those “blueprints” when really they just need to produce content and get links.

Gary, you are right!! I believe the moment people hesitate, they will end up doing nothing. The right move is to act NOW. Act when the fire is still burning in your heart and mental. If not, you will end up getting demotivated.

Absolutely right, just do it. My advice is to draw up a ‘to do’ list each night with the most urgent at the top and work through the list the next day. I also have a ‘must do each day list’ for regular tasks. Self discipline is the only way to go.

Oh yes, always measure everything you will soon know what works well and what does not.

Couldn’t agree more about doing it, but some times one wonders about what to do. What is it you are doing? Maybe you have the motivation but don’t know where to start. To just “do it” in internet marketing is give it your best, try as many things as you can, take what works and revisit the idea’s that don’t. Don’t expect everything to work overnight.

I remember when I first started, I was very overwhelmed with “doing things the right way.” As a more experienced marketer now, I realized that the more I did something, the more I learned, and of course, the more things actually stuck with me. Action provides much more than money- it provides experience and learning tools.
